because of their righteousness; letting the guilty and the wicked go
unpunished, because of their money;

manner of wickedness, contrary to the laws of their country and also the

Where did they

robbers, who dwelt upon the mountains, who did infest the land;

established in the land, all save it were the secret combinations which Gadianton
the robber had established, in the more settled parts of the the land,
which at that time were not known unto those who were at the head of
the government; therefore they were not destroyed out of the land.

140 Yea, they began to seek to get gain, that they might be
lifted up one above another; therefore they began to commit secret
murders, and to rob and to plunder that they might get gain. 141 And now behold, those murderers
and plunderers were a band who had been formed by Kishkumen and Gadianton.
But what caused the eventual rise in power of the Gadianton
Terrorists?

2:28 And it came to pass that there were peace and
exceeding great joy in the remainder of the forty and ninth year; yea, and
also there were continual peace and great joy in the fiftieth year of the
reign of the Judges.

Judges, there was peace also, save it were the pride which began to
enter into the church; not into the church of God, but into the
hearts of the people who professed to belong to the church of God; and
they were lifted up in pride, even to the persecution of many of their

ended in peace also, save it were the exceeding great pride which had
gotten into the hearts of the people; and it was because of their

Judges, they succeeded in obtaining possession of the land of Zarahemla:
yea, and also all the lands, even unto the land which was near the land
Bountiful; (political instability, ruin of government, overthrow by
the wicked).

2:44 Now this great loss of the Nephites, and the great
slaughter which was among them, would not have happened, had it not
been for their wickedness and their abomination which was among them;
yea, and it was among those also who professed to belong to the church
of God: (professing, but not acting)
45 And it was because of the pride of their hearts, because
of their exceeding riches, yea, it was because of their oppression to the
poor, withholding their food from the hungry, withholding their clothing
from the naked, and smiting their humble brethren upon the cheek, making a
mock of that which was sacred, denying the spirit of prophecy and of
revelation, murdering, plundering, lying, stealing, committing adultery,
rising up in great contentions, and deserting away into the land of Nephi,
among the Lamanites;
46 And because of this their great wickedness, and their
boastings in their own strength, they were left in their own strength;
therefore they did not prosper, but were afflicted and smitten, and driven
before the Lamanites, until they had lost possesion of almost all their

corrupted, and that they had become a wicked people, insomuch that
they were wicked even like unto the Lamanites.

to dwindle; and they began to disbelieve in the spirit of prophecy,
and in the spirit of revelation; and the judgments of God did stare them
in the face.
And what is the consequence for the people of God?

their brethren, the Lamanites, and that the Spirit of the Lord did no
more preserve them; yea, it had withdrawn from them, because the
Spirit of the Lord doth not dwell in unholy temples;

transgression; yea, thus had they become weak, because of their
transgression, in the space of not many years.

government, insomuch that they did trample under their feet, and smite,

should reveal unto the world of their wickedness and their abominations, should
be tried, not according to the laws of their country, but according to
the laws of their wickedness, which had been given by Gadianton and
Kishkumen.
How do they operate?
Helaman 2:145 But behold, Satan did stir up
the hearts of the more part of the Nephites, insomuch that they did unite
with those bands of robbers, and did enter into their covenants,
and their oaths, that they would protect and preserve one another, in
whatsoever difficult circumstances they should be placed, that they should
not suffer for their murders, and their plunderings, and their stealings. (Today,
even the terrorists were assumed to not have known each other from group
to group (common), to protect the secret identity of the group.)
What was the main foundation and pervasive characterstic of the
terrorists?
Nephi 1:50 And it came to pass that the
wicked part of the people began again to build up the secret oaths
and combinations of Gadianton.
Who was the author of the secret societies of terrorism? (Who is the
real author of Terrorism today?)

2:149 Now behold, it is these secret oaths and covenants,
which Alma commanded his son should not go forth unto the world, lest they
should be a means of bringing down the people unto destruction.

What was their strongest defense against the enemy? (And what will
ours be in this day?)

people, because of their iniquity, and also Nephi and Lehi, who were the
sons of Helaman, did preach many things unto the people;

2:48 Yea, and did prophesy many things unto them concerning
their iniquities, and what should come unto them if they did not repent of
their sins.

thus they became robbers of Gadianton.

did make great havoc, yea, even great destruction among the people of
Nephi, and also among the people of the Lamanites.
Was force justified to rid the nation of the terrorists?

2:144 And now it came to pass that when the Lamanites found
that there were robbers among them, they were exceeding sorrowful; and
they did use every means in their power, to destroy them off the face of
the earth.

land; for the Gadianton robbers had become so numerous, and did

was expedient that there should be a stop put to this work of destruction;
therefore they sent an army of strong men into the wilderness, and upon

What happened?
Helaman 4:39 And they were also visited
with much destruction; and they were again obliged to return out of the
wilderness and out of the mountains, unto their own lands, because of the
exceeding greatness of the numbers of those robbers who infested the

ended this year. And the robbers did still increase and wax strong,

Did the prophets of the Book of Mormon forsee problems because of
secret combinations beyond their day?
Mormon 4:35 And it shall come in a day
when the blood of the saints shall cry unto the Lord, because of secret combinations
and the works of darkness;
What advice did these prophets, who saw their own civilizations
crumble because of secret acts of terrorism, give to us in the last days?

write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made
known unto me that they are had among all people, and they are had among
the Lamanites, and they have caused the destruction of this people
of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of

to acts from secrect combinations leading to terrorism)

will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by
