When God's People Strayed

The Blessing Fulfilled--Gathering in the Last Days

The previous lesson, Jesus Warning For the Latter Days, shared this big revelation: the sin of the Gentiles against the very Gospel restored to them, would be a milestone event! It would mark the time when the restored gospel returns to Israel. Jesus said He would take it back to them, and His arm would be revealed before the nations when that happens.

Before going further, remember this basic attribute of God: He loves us and has patience with us. His patience for us outlasts our patience with each other. We think we've witnessed big sins in the church (not to dismiss them, however), but God has seen it all.

A beautiful illustration of God's love is in the following verses. When Israel was wayward, God (to use the phrase, 'sarcastically') tells Israel to look to their strange gods to save them:

Judges 10:13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods; wherefore I will deliver you no more.
14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

But when Israel confessed their sins and turned back to God (for a period), notice what happens:

15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned; do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

They put away their strange gods, and what does the Word share about the True God in the next verse? He grieved for their self inflicted misery out of love:

Judges 10:16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

When Israel was wayward, God hoped and longed for them; when they repented, he mourned because of their suffering. Take a minute for self evaluation and determine if your heart mourns for those who have strayed from God, or do you find inner satisfaction by the thought of 'justice being served?'

God never delights in the suffering of his people, even if they cause their own pain through disobedience.

Some wish to see others punished for their crimes; Jesus wishes to see the same repent and be forgiven for their crimes. He never has stated that the covenant people would lose their promise in any age of the church--that offers hope for the last days for those who will repent.

A Summary of the Events of the Scattering/Gathering of the House of Israel According to Scripture (not church folklore, restoration urban legend, etc).

God has had a plan from the beginning to gather His people in the end. We ultimately call the gathering 'Zion' but their is a problem with using that term--not God's problem, but our problem. Latter Day saints have become such creatures of urban legend within the church, that their concept of Zion, and the process by which it eventually becomes established, has become over run by the notions of others and not the scriptures of Jesus. Just mention the word 'Zion' and most saints inwardly way 'Oh Yeah, I know all about Zion...' But evidence from scripture suggests otherwise. It suggests that what God has been saying all along has been supplanted with notions, ideas, hopes and 'testimony.' Compare all the above with scripture first.

Without delving into all the misunderstandings that may or may not exist, this next section simply focuses on a statement associated with the covenant that God made with His people--'The first shall be last and the last shall be first"--and how it describes important events associated with the final gathering that becomes Zion, the New Jerusalem.

1. Approximately 1500 BC: Gospel Goes to Israel with Moses in Wilderness (it was established before that, but in Moses day, the people of Israel we given it to 'own.') These people, the 'Covenant' literal descendants of Jacob/Israel, are 'The First.'

  • Israel indulges in idolatry
  • Israel doesn't understand that the Mosaic Law is to point them to Christ. Nephites understood this, but Jews did not
  • House of Israel is scattered, Jews smitten

2. At 34 AD Gospel Goes to Gentiles after death of Jesus. These people, who are NOT the 'Covenant' literal descendants of Jacob/Israel, are 'The Last.'

  • Apostles preach to converted Jews and Gentiles
  • 1st century AD, Justin the Martyr (considered the first apologist) is martyred for proclaiming that the Jews took plain and precious truths from the original text of the biblical cannon.
  • A few centuries later, Christianity is waning.

3. Around 6th Century AD Gospel Dwindles out, ushering in 'Dark Ages', pockets of Christians always existed, but with much misunderstanding.

  • Much fruit born, none of it was good.

4. In 1830 AD Gospel Goes Back to Gentiles Re-Established (restored) to Gentiles in Joseph Smith's day. This is 'The Last being First.'

  • Truth restored to earth as Book of Mormon discovered.
  • Latter Day saints problem in 'jumping the gun' believing that story of gathering was all about them.
  • While Joseph Smith taught it correctly, many saints seemed to overlook the fact that Jews had to be restored to truth also.
  • Joseph martyred in 1844, splintered church. Many believers in Book of Mormon. RLDS wins lawsuit that they were the successor by belief.

5. Our present Time. In 20?? AD Gospel Goes back to Israel. This happens because Jesus said so. (3 Nephi 7) This event is marked by the sin of the Gentiles rejecting the fullness of the Gospel. Could this event be happening right now? Has it already happened? When it does, this is 'The First being Last.' This event must happen, and is prophesied to happen, BEFORE Zion comes. We can talk and hope all we want, but the Gospel must return to them.

  • What constitutes 'enough' sin and rejection of the Gospel restored to the Gentiles? Only God can say. Nevertheless, this marks the return of Gospel to Jews.

Here is the summary scripture regarding the events above:

1 Nephi 3:199 And after he has manifested himself unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles; then he shall manifest himself unto the Gentiles, and also unto the Jews,

We must understand that the Jews must be restored to a knowledge of Jesus:

Mormon 2:41 And behold they (the words of the Book of Mormon) shall go unto the unbelieving of the Jews; and for this intent shall they go; that they may be persuaded that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God;

Mormon 2:42 That the Father may bring about, through his most beloved, his great and eternal purpose, in restoring the Jews, or all the house of Israel, to the land of their inheritance, which the Lord their God hath given them, unto the fulfilling of his covenant,

First being last and last being first is a metaphor for

The Gospel coming to the Jews (Israel) First

The Gospel Going to the Gentiles After Israel

The Gospel being Restored to the Gentiles

The Gospel being Restored to the Jews (Israel) Last

6. Joseph's seed prophesied to rise in power,

DC 49:5a But before the great day of the Lord shall come, Jacob shall flourish in the wilderness; and the Lamanites shall blossom as the rose.

Jews begin to come back to a knowledge of Jesus. Gentiles of this land numbered among the remnant of Joseph. We are invited to their party, not them to ours, as many latter day saints believe.

3 Nephi 10:1 But if they (the gentiles) will repent, and hearken unto my words, and harden not their hearts, I will establish my church among them, and they shall come in unto the covenant, and be numbered among this the remnant of Jacob, unto whom I have given this land for their inheritance, and they shall assist my people, the remnant of Jacob;

7. A City is Built--The New Jerusalem. On this land. Old Jerusalem is built up with believers also.

3 Nephi 10:2 And also, as many of the house of Israel as shall come, that they may build a city, which shall be called the New Jerusalem;

10:3 And then shall they assist my people that they may be gathered in, who are scattered upon all the face of the land, in unto the New Jerusalem.

A critical point is made here in scripture: Zion doesn't appear to form because of the Latter Day Gentiles' efforts as much as the covenant people of Joseph on this land. In other words, it is not the hoping and dreams of restoration groups, latter day saint efforts that brings Zion to pass. But it is their diligence in getting the Word of Joseph (Book of Mormon) back to the covenant people that makes a difference. Zion was not ever purposed for, by or because of us Gentile Latter-Day Saints. Rather, it was because of the original House of Israel. The Gentiles 'assist' more than 'lead' according to the scripture above.

10:1 But if they will repent, and hearken unto my words, and harden not their hearts, I will establish my church among them, and they shall come in unto the covenant, and be numbered among this the remnant of Jacob, unto whom I have given this land for their inheritance, and they shall assist my people, the remnant of Jacob;

10:2 And also, as many of the house of Israel as shall come, that they may build a city, which shall be called the New Jerusalem;

10:3 And then shall they assist my people that they may be gathered in, who are scattered upon all the face of the land, in unto the New Jerusalem.

8. Jesus is in the midst of the city--this is when 'endowment happens' to have Jesus in our midst.

10:4 And then shall the power of heaven come down among them; and I also will be in the midst, and then shall the work of the Father commence, at that day even when this gospel shall be preached among the remnant of this people.

9. Gathering of dispersed and lost tribes happens

10:5 Verily, I say unto you, At that day shall the work of the Father commence among all the dispersed of my people; yea, even the tribes which have been lost, which the Father hath led away out of Jerusalem.

10. Gathering of all believers happens from four quarters of the earth.

10:7 Yea, and then shall the work commence, with the Father, among all nations, in preparing the way whereby his people may be gathered home to the land of their inheritance.

11. This is when true missionaries are sent out and their 'endowment happens' when Jesus is reigning (that is the biggest blessing) and managing it, not some faction of a restoration group who believes 'they are the chosen ones.'

10:8 And they shall go out from all nations; and they shall not go out in haste, nor go by flight; for I will go before them, saith the Father, and I will be their rearward. ....

The purpose of the process above is to bring salvation to the world and fulfill the covenants God made with Israel.

Looking at some of the details of the events listed above:

The promise that Israel would be Scattered...

This scripture was certainly fulfilled, and transcribed in the records of the Jews and Nephites:

Deuteronomy 28:25 The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them; and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

Deuteronomy 30:3 That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.

4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee;

5 And the Lord thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

6 And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

7 And the Lord thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the Lord, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

The beautiful result of the promise fulfilled is witnessed in verse 8 (above) that God's people return to him with an obedient heart at that day.

The Book of Mormon clearly details the events of Israel's scattering:

1 Nephi 3:150 And I beheld the wrath of God that it was upon the seed of my brethren; and they were scattered before the Gentiles, and were smitten.

2 Nephi 1:24 Yea, he will bring other nations unto them, and he will give unto them power, and he will take away from them the lands of their possessions, and he will cause them to be scattered and smitten.

2 Nephi 5:27 And the day cometh that they shall be smitten and afflicted.

2 Nephi 5:28 Wherefore, after they are driven to and fro, for thus saith the angel, many shall be afflicted in the flesh and shall not be suffered to perish, because of the prayers of the faithful, they shall be scattered, and smitten, and hated;

Why was the House of Israel scattered and smitten? For loving the world more than God--i.e. idolatry. Why were the Jews scattered and smitten also? For crucifying Jesus:

1 Nephi 5:251 And as for those who are at Jerusalem, saith the prophet, they shall be scourged by all people, because they crucify the God of Israel, and turn their hearts aside, rejecting signs and wonders, and power and glory of the God of Israel;

2 Nephi 5:25 And after he should manifest himself, they should scourge him and crucify him, according to the words of the angel, who spake it unto me.

2 Nephi 7:6 And they shall crucify him: For thus it behooveth our God;

2 Nephi 7:7 And there is none other nation on earth that would crucify their God.

The will endure punishment for a time, but the Word indicates that the prayers of the righteous on their behalf will not be forgotten, and the words written for them shall whisper from the dust:

2 Nephi 11:83 And after they shall have been brought down low in the dust, even that they are not, yet the words of the righteous shall be written, and the prayers of the faithful shall be heard, and all those who have dwindled in unbelief, shall not be forgotten;

84 For those who shall be destroyed shall speak unto them out of the ground, and their speech shall be low out of the dust, and their voice shall be as one that hath a familiar spirit;

85 For the Lord God will give unto him power, that he may whisper concerning them, even as it were out of the ground; and their speech shall whisper out of the dust.

The Promise to Gather the House of Israel (not just Gentiles of the latter day church)....

This promise has yet to be fulfilled, and is written of in the records of the Jews and Nephites. It is the word of the Nephites returning to the Jews that brings their return::

Deuteronomy 30:3 That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.

Deuteronomy 30:4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee;

The Jews will be gathered as they begin to believe in Christ:

2 Nephi 12:85 And it shall come to pass that the Jews which are scattered, also shall begin to believe in Christ: and they shall begin to gather in upon the face of the land;... 87 And it shall come to pass that the Lord God shall commence his work, among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, to bring about the restoration of his people upon the earth.

They Must be able to Believe in Jesus before the gathering takes place. How else, unless the Word is restored to them first?

2 Nephi 7:12 But behold, thus saith the Lord God: When the day cometh that they shall believe in me, that I am Christ, then have I covenanted with their fathers, that they shall be restored in the flesh, upon the earth, unto the lands of their inheritance.

13 And it shall come to pass that they shall be gathered in from their long dispersion from the isles of the sea, and from the four parts of the earth;

12 But behold, thus saith the Lord God: When the day cometh that they shall believe in me, that I am Christ, then have I covenanted with their fathers, that they shall be restored in the flesh, upon the earth, unto the lands of their inheritance.
13 And it shall come to pass that they shall be gathered in from their long dispersion from the isles of the sea, and from the four parts of the earth;

Don't let anyone deceive you into thinking the Book of Mormon is not necessary. It is the key in the future restoration of Israel.

For those who believe that God has written off the Jews, or for that matter, the general church of the latter day, despite falling away, stiff necks, lusts of every kind among His people, Jesus told Israel 'My arm is not shortened that it can not save' and 'My hand is outstretched.' He tells that to His church through the ages, even us latter day sinners.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear;

DC 34:3b for I am God, and mine arm is not shortened, and I will show miracles, signs and wonders, unto all those who believe on my name.

DC 108:12e When I called again, there was none of you to answer, yet my arm was not shortened at all, that I could not redeem, neither my power to deliver.

Despite our sin, God's love for us, and His plan to recover His people, has never changed:

Isaiah 9:12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 9:17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows; for every one of them is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 9:21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Understanding the Covenants is the Key

The final chapters of the end of our age can only be understood by understanding the covenants made at the beginning of time. The covenants will be explained in another future lesson, but in a nutshell, God promised that for sin, His people would be scattered. That has happened. He also promised that for repentance, they will be gathered. This has yet to be fulfilled in full measure.

There are so many scriptures that speak to this. In reality, the whole of scripture speaks to this: God wants to gather his people to teach them of salvation and His goodness.

Isaiah 66:18 For I know their works and their thoughts; it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

Jeremiah 23:3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.

Jeremiah 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord; and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Jeremiah 31:10 Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

Question: When can people repent? When do they repent?

Answer, when they have

1) the Word which tells them to repent

2) when the have the spiritual conviction to repent.

So what will be needed for the Jews repentance?

Answer: The Word restored to them again.

Jews Stumbled at the Word--Word will be Restored

Moses mentioned part of the reason for the Jews troubles:

Deuteronomy 29:24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt;

26 For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them

The Latter-day church has committed the same sin: the gods of the culture have become its god.

But the story is not completed until The Word returns to the Jews, and other scattered tribes of Israel.

So, if Israel, (and the scriptures specifically mention 'the Jews'), 'Stumble at the word,' and look beyond the mark,' how then can they come to repentance? It is impossible without The Word restored to them (like Nehemiah had) and the Spirit among them (that comes with the Word)

Isaiah 59:10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.

Jacob 3:23 Wherefore, because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall:

Jacob 3:25 And because they desired it, God hath done it, that they may stumble.

II Corinthians 3:15 (speaking of Jews) But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.

Part of the process, the prophecy to be fulfilled before the end comes, is that the word must return to the Jews. The Book of Mormon clearly prophesies of this:

2 Nephi 12:71 And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall have the words of the Nephites, and the Nephites shall have the words of the Jews:

2 Nephi 12:72 And the Nephites and the Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel; and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words of the Nephites and the Jews.

The above passage is fulfilled when the parable of the First being last and the last being first is fulfilled. The Jews were first, they will be last. The Gentiles were in the middle twice.

The Gospel coming to the Jews (Israel) First

The Gospel Going to the Gentiles After Israel

The Gospel being Restored to the Gentiles

The Gospel being Restored to the Jews (Israel) Last

Zion's return is based on the authority of your latter day restoration groups. It is not and you are distracting yourselves. Zion will return when the covenants with Israel are fulfilled.

(Incidentally, lots of people live under the umbrella of the word 'Restoration.' Of those, not many people talking about the fact mentioned above, that the gospel must go back to the Jews. Instead, Restoration groups are arguing about who has priesthood authority, the general church is distracted making poster children out of people with gender identity issues; mormons (LDS) are busy planning their eternal marriages....perhaps that is why God said the Gentile church's sin would mark the return of the Gospel to the House of Israel? Perhaps this is why God said "I Can Do My Own Work.'

'Times of Gentiles' Must Be Fulfilled Before Zion Comes

The scriptures refer to the end of the 'Times of the Gentiles' marking the beginning of the gathering of the Jews. The times of the Gentiles directly refers to the time that the Gentile church has its dominion or ownership of the Gospel--sitting in the authority over it. That time is quickly ending:

DC 45:3f (Speaking of the scattered Jews)....And this I have told you concerning Jerusalem; and when that day shall come, shall a remnant be scattered among all nations, but they shall be gathered again; but they shall remain (i.e. remain scattered) until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Luke 21:23 (Speaking of the Jews)...And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

The regathering of Israel (Jews and other lost tribes) only happens after the Times of the Gentiles, i.e. their dominion over the Gospel, comes to an end. This has been prophesied of since the beginning.

General Timeline of 'First Shall be Last, the Last Shall be First'

1500 BC: Gospel Goes to Israel with Moses in Wilderness (it was established before that, but in Moses day, the people of Israel we given it to 'own.')

34 AD Gospel Goes to Gentiles after death of Jesus.

6th Century AD Gospel Dwindles out in Dark Ages of time, pockets of Christians always existed, but with much misunderstanding.

1830 AD Gospel Goes Back to Gentiles Re-Established (restored) to Gentiles in Joseph Smith's day

20?? AD Gospel Goes back to Israel because Jesus said so. (3 Nephi 7) This event is marked by the sin of the Gentiles rejecting the fullness of the Gospel. Could this event be happening right now? Has it already happened?

The key point to understand is that all the promises of Zion and the 'real' gathering, do not happen until the original House of Israel (by lineage) in the last days--not the Gentile church--starts to rise in power. This happens ONLY after the gospel returns to them. That is how their repentance happens and why some greet Jesus for the first time when some ask:

Zechariah 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

The Final Promise Fulfilled

In Moses' day, the prophecy was given that God's people would be regathered, and enjoy a time of extreme happiness, find true faith, enjoy temporal and spiritual abundance. This is the end of the prophecy. We are living in the latter part of it, where the Gospel has been restored to the Gentiles, but must also be restored to the Jews before the end comes. This is WHY the Jews and Israel find happiness, because the Word is restored to them again. They find Jesus again. They Gather because of Jesus, and their restored faith in Him. Not because of new-found faith in the church of the latter day. The church of the Latter Day is proving to be typical for God's people: error prone, but not forgotten, and certainly not dismissed.

The hope of the Latter Day Saints is for a gathering, a return unto God. The promise, mentioned in Moses day, Deuteronomy Chapter 30, is beautiful:

Deuteronomy 30:1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing, and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath driven thee,

Jews must 'return' and 'obey'--this is only done by presence of God's Word and Spirit:

30:2 And shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;

30:3 That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.

30:4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee;

30:5 And the Lord thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

A change is both prophesied and required: their hearts will change:

30:6 And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

The 'bad people' will get what they deserve, but that is not really the point. The point is God's goodness in remembering His people:

30:7 And the Lord thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

30:8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the Lord, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

The blessings to be pronounced upon His people are greater than the previous generations:

30:9 And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good; for the Lord will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers;

30:10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

God makes a significant point: the key to Israel's blessing has never been hidden. It has always been obvious. The key to blessing is obedience. Obedience to God and His Word. It is not something 'far off' as Moses writes, but something already very close to us: His words that He has placed within us.

30:11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.

30:12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

30:13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Summary

What can be concluded from these lessons we have studied:

1. God's people have strayed and God has not forgotten them.

2. The Jews must be restored to a knowledge of Jesus. A milestone event for this is marked by the restored Gentile church sinning against the truth.

3. The sin of the Gentile church is not cause for panic. God is in control. We need to be also.

4. The return of the Jews and scattered Israel happens by the Word being restored to them. Part of this word is the Book of Mormon. Jesus indicates that other lost tribes had also written. Their words will be exchanged before the end comes, and the words shall be verified in each other.

5. The result of God's word returning to Israel marks the true beginning of the building and gathering to Zion. Jesus is in our midst. The 'endowment' hoped for by latter day saints starts then, under Jesus command and direction, not now.

6. God's people and word are gathered into one.

2 Nephi 12:73 And it shall come to pass that my people which are of the house of Israel, shall be gathered home unto the lands of their possessions; and my word also shall be gathered in one.

7. God's purpose is to bring salvation to His people.
