2 Nephi 5:104
These two sons are come unto thee- who shall be sorry for thee?- Thy desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword-
2 Nephi 9:84
And what will ye do in the day of visitation? And in the desolation which shall come from far? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?
And it was called Desolation of Nehors, for they were of the profession of Nehor which were slain, And their lands remained desolate.
And it bordered upon the land which they called Desolation, It being so far northward that it came into the land which had been peopled and had been destroyed- of whose bones we have spoken-which was discovered by the people of Zarahemla, It being the place of their first landing; And they came from there up into the South Wilderness;
Thus the land on the northward was called Desolation, And the land on the southward was called Bountiful, It being the wilderness which was filled with all manner of wild animals of every kind, a part of which had come from the Land Northward for food.
And now it was only the distance of a day and a half's journey for a Nephite on the line Bountiful and the Land Desolation, from the east to the West Sea;
And it came to pass that when he had poured out his soul to God, He gave all the land which was south of the Land Desolation, Yea, and in fine all the land, both on the north and on the south, a chosen land and the land of liberty.
And it came to pass that they did not head them until they had come to the borders of the Land Desolation; And there they did head them by the Narrow Pass which led by the sea into the Land Northward, Yea, by the sea on the west and on the east.
And it came to pass that Hagoth, he being an exceeding curious man, Therefore, he went forth and built him an exceeding large ship on the borders of the Land Bountiful, by the Land Desolation, And launched it forth into the West Sea, by the Narrow Neck which led into the Land Northward.
And in the days of your poverty, ye cannot retain them; And in the days of your poverty, ye shall cry unto the Lord; And in vain shall ye cry, For your desolation is already come upon you, And your destruction is made sure.
3 Nephi 2:32
And the land which was appointed was the Land of Zarahemla and the land which was between the Land of Zarahemla and the Land Bountiful, yea, to the line which was betwixt the Land Bountiful and the Land Desolation;
And it came to pass that I did cause my people that they should gather themselves together at the Land Desolation, to a city which was in the borders by the Narrow Pass which led into the Land Southward,
And it came to pass that in the three hundred and sixty and first year, the Lamanites did come down to the City of Desolation to battle against us; And it came to pass that in that year we did beat them insomuch that they did return to their own lands again.
And now it came to pass that in the three hundred and sixty and third year, the Nephites did go up with their armies to battle against the Lamanites, out of the Land of Desolation.
And it came to pass that the armies of the Nephites were driven back again to the Land of Desolation;
And while they were yet weary, a fresh army of the Lamanites did come upon them; And they had a sore battle, insomuch that the Lamanites did take possession of the City Desolation and did slay many of the Nephites and did take many prisoners, And the remainder did flee and join the inhabitants of the City Teancum.
Now the City Teancum lay in the borders by the seashore, And it was also near the City Desolation.
And when the Nephites saw that they had driven the Lamanites, they did again boast of their own strength, And they went forth in their own might and took possession again of the City Desolation.
And it came to pass that the Lamanites did take possession of the City Desolation, and this because their number did exceed the number of the Nephites;
And it came to pass that the Lamanites did come down against the City Desolation, And there was an exceeding sore battle fought in the Land Desolation in the which they did beat the Nephites.
Now the Land of Moron where the king dwelt was near the land which is called Desolation by the Nephites.
