"And it came to pass that when the Lord of the vineyard saw that His fruit was good and that His vineyard was no more corrupt, He calleth up His servants and saith unto them: 'Behold, for this last time have we nourished My vineyard, And thou beholdest that I have done according to My will,
Nevertheless, not my will be done; But if God shall smite thee, let that be a sign unto thee that He hath power, both in heaven and in earth, And also, that Christ shall come;
And Thy will, O Lord, be done and not mine."
And I saith: "Lord, how is it done?"
And the Lord said unto me: "Thy fathers have also required of Me this thing; And it shall be done unto them according to their faith, for their faith was like unto thine."
But behold, I, of myself, am a wicked man and I have not kept the statutes and the commandments of the Lord as I ought to have done.
Behold, it is expedient that much should be done among this people, Because of the hardness of their hearts, and the deafness of their ears, and the blindness of their minds, and the stiffness of their necks;
And it came to pass that after Mosiah had done as his father had commanded him and had made a proclamation throughout all the land, That the people gathered themselves together throughout all the land, that they might go up to the temple to hear the words which King Benjamin should speak unto them;
"Yet, my brethren, I have not done these things that I might boast, Neither do I tell these things that thereby I might accuse you; But I tell you these things that ye may know that I can answer a clear conscience before God this day.
"And now my brethren, I would that ye should do as ye hath hitherto done,
'And behold, all these things are done that a righteous judgment might come upon the children of men.
But I say unto you O man, whosoever doeth this, the same hath great cause to repent; And except he repenteth of that which he hath done, he perisheth forever and hath no interest in the kingdom of God.
And yet ye put up no petition, or repenteth not of the thing which thou hast done;
"And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order, for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than what he hath strength.
"And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; Therefore, all things must be done in order.
And he also, himself, did till the earth, that thereby he might not become burdensome to his people, That he might do according to that which his father had done in all things.
And it came to pass that after he had done all this, that King Limhi dismissed the multitude and caused that they should return, everyone unto his own house.
"And now, O king, What great evil hast thou done? Or what great sins have thy people committed, That we should be condemned of God or judged of this man?
Now Abinadi saith unto them: "Have ye done all this? I say unto you, nay, ye have not.
And He made His grave with the wicked and with the rich in His death, Because He had done no evil, Neither was any deceit in His mouth.
And now when the flames began to scorch him, he cried unto them, saying: "Behold! Even as ye have done unto me, so shall it come to pass that thy seed shall cause that many shall suffer the pains that I do suffer, even the pains of death by fire, And this because they believe in the salvation of the Lord their God.
And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the Waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the Waters of Mormon,
And these things were done in the borders of the land, that they might not come to the knowledge of the king.
And it came to pass that after they had ended the cere-mony, that they returned to the Land of Nephi, rejoicing because their wives and their children were not slain; And they told Gideon what they had done to the king.
Now Limhi had heard nothing concerning this matter, therefore he saith: "I will search among my people and whosoever hath done this thing shall perish";
Now they durst not slay them because of the oath which their king had made unto Limhi; But they would smite them on their cheeks and exercise authority over them, And began to put heavy burdens upon their backs and drive them as they would a dumb ass; Yea, all this was done that the word of the Lord might be fulfilled.
Now this was done because there were so many people that they could not all be governed by one teacher, Neither could they all hear the word of God in one assembly; Therefore, they did assemble themselves together in different bodies, being called churches,
"Now I say unto thee, Go, And remember the captivity of thy fathers in the Land of Helam and in the Land of Nephi, And remember how great things He hath done for them, for they were in bondage and He hath delivered them.
And he caused that a multitude should be gathered together, that they might witness what the Lord had done for his son, and also for those that were with him;
And after they had traveled throughout all the Land of Zarahemla and among all the people which were under the reign of King Mosiah, Zealously striving to repair all the injuries which they had done to the church,
Now it came to pass that after the sons of Mosiah had done all these things, they took a small number with them and returned to their father, the king, And desired of him that he would grant unto them that they might, with those whom they had selected, go up to the Land of Nephi,
And now, as I said unto you that after King Mosiah had done these things, he took the plates of brass and all the things which he had kept and conferred them upon Alma which was the son of Alma-
Now when Mosiah had done this, he sent out through all the land, among all the people, desiring to know their will concerning who should be their king.
"And thou hast shed the blood of a righteous man, yea, a man which has done much good among this people; And were we to spare thee, his blood would come upon us for vengeance.
And it came to pass that by thus exercising the law upon them, every man suffering according to that which he had done, they became more still and durst not commit any wickedness if it were known;
And this was done that their seed might be distinguished from the seed of their brethren, that thereby the Lord God might preserve His people, that they might not mix and believe in incorrect traditions which would prove their destruction.
Now all these things were done, yea, all these wars and contentions were commenced and ended in the fifth year of the reign of the judges.
Do you look forward with an eye of faith and view this mortal body raised in immortality? And this corruption raised in incorruption, to stand before God to be judged according to the deeds which hath been done in the mortal body?
And now it came to pass that Alma returned from the Land of Gideon after having taught the people of Gideon many things which cannot be written, Having established the order of the church according as he had before done in the Land of Zarahemla;
Now this was done that the Lord might show forth His power in them.
"And again, I know that the things whereof he hath testified are true; For behold I say unto you, that as the Lord liveth, even so He hath sent His angel to make these things manifest unto me; And this He hath done while this Alma hath dwelt at my house.
Now Alma seeing that the words of Amulek had silenced Zeezrom, for he beheld that Amulek had caught him in his lying and deceiving to destroy him, And seeing that he began to tremble under a consciousness of his guilt, He opened his mouth and began to speak unto him and to establish the words of Amulek and to explain things beyond, or to unfold the scriptures beyond that which Amulek had done.
And it came to pass that it was done before the chief judge of the land.
And this was done to the great astonishment of all the people; And the knowledge of this went forth throughout all the Land of Sidom.
And they were carried in unto the king for a testimony of the things which they had done.
Nevertheless, Lamoni began to fear exceedingly with fear, lest he had done wrong in slaying his servants,
And Ammon fell upon his knees and began to pour out his soul in prayer and thanksgiving to God for what He had done for his brethren;
And when she had done this, she took the king, Lamoni, by the hand and behold, he arose and stood upon his feet;
Now this was done in the presence of the queen and many of his servants, And when they saw it, they greatly marveled and began to fear;
And there were many whose hearts had swollen in them for those of their brethren who had fallen under the sword, for they repented of the things which they had done.
And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy, Then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea, even that He hath heard my prayer, Yea, then do I remember His merciful arm which He extended toward me.
And may God grant that it may be done according to my words, even as I have spoken. Amen.
Nevertheless, there was no law against a man's belief, Therefore, a man was punished only for the crimes which he had done, Therefore, all men were on equal grounds.
"And now behold, my brethren, I say unto you, do not suppose that this is all, For after ye have done all these things, If ye turn away the needy and the naked, and visit not the sick and afflicted and impart of your substance, if ye have, to those which stand in need-
I would that ye should do as I have done in remembering the captivity of our fathers, For they were in bondage and none could deliver them except it was the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, And He surely did deliver them in their afflictions.
And I have always retained in remembrance their captivity, Yea, and ye also had ought to retain in remembrance, as I have done, their captivity.
And now my son Helaman, I command you that ye take the records which have been entrusted with me, And I also command you that ye shall keep a record of this people, according as I have done, upon the plates of Nephi; And keep all these things sacred which I have kept, even as I have kept them-for it is for a wise purpose that they are kept-
Therefore, if they had faith to believe that God could cause that those spindles should point the way they should go, Behold, it was done; Therefore, they had this miracle, and also many other miracles wrought by the power of God, day by day;
But rather return unto them and acknowledge your faults and retain that wrong which ye have done; Seek not after riches nor the vain things of this world, For behold, you cannot carry them with you.
If he hath desired to do evil and hath not repented in his days, Behold, evil shall be done unto him, according to the restoration of God.
"And now I would that ye should understand that this is done unto us because of our religion and our faith in Christ. "And now ye see that ye cannot destroy this our faith;
And when Alma had done this, he departed out of the Land of Zarahemla as if to go into the Land of Melek. And it came to pass that he was never heard of more; As to his death or burial, we know not of.
Now the leaders of the Lamanites had supposed, because of the greatness of their numbers, Yea, they supposed that they should be privileged to come upon them as they had hitherto done;
And he returned again privily to his own camp, And behold, his men were asleep; And he awoke them and told them all the things that he had done.
And all those things were done in a profound silence; But had they awakened the Lamanites, Behold, they were drunken and the Nephites could have slain them.
Now behold, this was done in the nighttime so that when the Lamanites awoke in the morning, they beheld that they were surrounded by the Nephites without and that their prisoners were armed within.
Yea, and even according to their faith, it was done unto them; And I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them.
And blessed is the name of our God! For behold, it is He that hath delivered us, yea, that hath done this great thing for us.'
For behold, they remembered that which we had hitherto done; Therefore, we could not decoy them away from their strongholds;
"Now this was done because the Lamanites did suffer their whole army, save a few guards only, to be led away into the wilderness.
Yea, and this they have done when they were about to perish with hunger because of your exceeding great neglect toward them.
"Yea, were it not for those Kingmen which caused so much bloodshed among ourselves- "Yea, at the time we were contending among ourselves, if we had united our strength as we hitherto have done-
"Yea, if we had gone forth against them, in the strength of the Lord- We should have dispersed our enemies, For it would have been done according to the fulfilling of His word.
"And now except ye do repent of that which ye have done and begin to be up and doing, And send forth food and men unto us, and also unto Helaman that he may support those parts of our country which he hath obtained, And that we may also recover the remainder of our possessions in these parts, Behold, it will be expedient that we contend no more with the Lamanites until we have first cleansed our inward vessel, yea, even the great head of our government.
And it came to pass that this was done to fortify the land against the Lamanites.
Yea, they did remember how great things the Lord had done for them- That He had delivered them from death, and from bonds and from prisons, and from all manner of afflictions; And He had delivered them out of the hands of their enemies-
And it came to pass that all these things were done.
And all this was done in the fortieth year of the reign of the judges; And it had an end.
For behold, Moronihah had supposed that the Lamanites durst not come into the center of the land, But that they would attack the cities round about in the borders as they had hitherto done; Therefore, Moronihah had caused that their strong armies should maintain those parts round about by the borders.
And he ran and told Helaman all the things which he had seen and heard and done.
And all this was done in the fifty and eighth and ninth years of the reign of the judges.
"Behold, I have given unto you the names of our first parents which came out of the Land of Jerusalem; And this I have done that when you remember your names, that ye may remember them; And when ye remember them, ye may remember their works; And when ye remember their works, ye may know how that it is said, and also written, that they were good.
And it came to pass that they did preach with great power, Insomuch that they did confound many of those dissenters which had gone over from the Nephites, Insomuch that they came forth and did confess their sins and were baptized unto repentance, And immediately returned to the Nephites to endeavor to repair unto them the wrongs which they had done.
"For if ye will not repent, Behold, this great city, and also all those great cities which are round about, which are in the land of our possession, shall be taken away, that ye shall have no place in them, For behold, the Lord will not grant unto you strength, as He hath hitherto done, to withstand against your enemies.
And they cried out against him, saying unto the people: "Why do ye not seize upon this man and bring him forth, that he may be condemned according to the crime which he hath done?
And behold, the judges inquired of them to know concerning the matter, And they told them all that they had done, saying: "We ran and came to the place of the judgment seat; And when we saw all things, even as Nephi had testified, We were astonished, insomuch that we fell to the earth; And when we were recovered from our astonishment, Behold, they cast us into prison.
"Now as for the murder of this man, we know not who hath done it, And only this much we know-we ran and came according as ye desired; And behold, he was dead according to the words of Nephi."
Saying unto him: "Thou art confederate with this man that hath done this murder! Now tell us and acknowledge thy fault!"- Saying, "Behold, here is money"; And also, "We will grant unto thee thy life if thou wilt tell us and acknowledge the agreement which thou hast made with him."
"And because I have done this, ye say that I have agreed with a man that he should do this thing; Yea, because I showed unto you this sign, ye are angry with me and seek to destroy my life.
"And then shall greater fear come upon him; And then shall he confess unto you and deny no more that he hath done this murder.
"Blessed art thou, Nephi, for those things which thou hast done; For I have beheld how thou hast with unwearyingness declared the word which I have given unto thee unto this people;
"And now because thou hast done this with such unwearyingness, Behold, I will bless thee forever; And I will make thee mighty in word and in deed, in faith and in works; Yea, even that all things shall be done unto thee according to thy word, For thou shalt not ask that which is contrary to My will.
"And thus, if ye shall say unto this temple, 'It shall be rent in twain'- And it shall be done.
"And if ye shall say unto this mountain, 'Be thou cast down and become smooth!'- And it shall be done.
Now behold, notwithstanding that great miracle which Nephi had done in telling them concerning the death of the chief judge, They did harden their hearts and did not hearken unto the words of the Lord.
And so it was done according to the words of Nephi; And there was a great famine upon the land among all the people of Nephi.
"O Lord, wilt Thou hearken unto me and cause that it may be done according to my words, And send forth rain upon the face of the earth, that she may bring forth her fruit and her grain in the season of grain?
Yea, and if He saith unto the earth, "Move!"- And it is moved. Yea, if He say unto the earth, "Thou shalt go back, that it lengthen out the day for many hours"- And it is done.
And behold, also if He saith unto the waters of the great deep, "Be thou dried up!"- And it is done.
Behold, if He saith unto this mountain, "Be thou raised up and come over and fall upon that city, that it be buried up"- And behold, it is done.
And behold, if the Lord shalt say unto a man, "Because of thine iniquities, thou shalt be accursed forever!"- And it shall be done.
Yea, which shall be consigned to a state of endless misery, fulfilling the words which saith: "They that have done good shall have everlasting life; And they that have done evil shall have everlasting damnation." And thus it is. Amen.
'And now behold,' saith the Lord concerning the people of the Nephites, 'if they will not repent and observe to do My will, I will utterly destroy them,' saith the Lord, 'because of their unbelief, Notwithstanding the many mighty works which I have done among them; And as surely as the Lord liveth shall these things be,' saith the Lord."

"Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would not have fallen; But behold, ye are fallen and I mourn your loss;
And behold, it is the hand of the Lord which hath done it.
