Title Page 1:Intro THE BOOK OF MORMON An account written by the hand of Mormon upon plates taken from the plates of Nephi.

1 Nephi 1:17 Behold, I make an abridgment of the record of my father upon plates which I have made with mine own hands; Wherefore, after that I have abridged the record of my father, then will I make an account of mine own life.

1 Nephi 1:61 For behold, Laban hath the record of the Jews, and also a genealogy of my forefathers, And they are engraven upon plates of brass;

1 Nephi 1:70 And he desired of Laban the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass which contained the genealogy of my father.

1 Nephi 1:87 And it came to pass that we went in unto Laban and desired him that he would give unto us the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, For which we would give unto him our gold and our silver and all our precious things.

1 Nephi 2:3 And it mattereth not to me that I am particular to give a full account of all the things of my father, for they cannot be written upon these plates, for I desire the room that I may write of the things of God,

1 Nephi 2:6 Wherefore, I shall give commandment unto my seed that they shall not occupy these plates with things which are not of worth unto the children of men.

1 Nephi 2:92 And all these things did my father see and hear and speak as he dwelt in a tent in the Valley of Lemuel, And also a great many more things which cannot be written upon these plates.

1 Nephi 2:93 And now as I have spoken concerning these plates, behold, they are not the plates upon which I make a full account of the history of my people,

1 Nephi 2:94 For the plates upon which I make a full account of my people I have given the name of Nephi;

1 Nephi 2:95 Wherefore, they are called the plates of Nephi after mine own name; And these plates also are called the plates of Nephi.

1 Nephi 2:96 Nevertheless, I have received a commandment of the Lord that I should make these plates for the special purpose that there should be an account engraven of the ministry of my people,

1 Nephi 2:97 And upon the other plates should be engraven an account of the reigns of the kings and the wars and contentions of my people;

1 Nephi 2:98 Wherefore, these plates are for the more part of the ministry, And the other plates are for the more part of the reigns of the kings and the wars and contentions of my people;

1 Nephi 2:99 Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to make these plates for a wise purpose in Him, which purpose I know not,

1 Nephi 3:1 And now I, Nephi, proceed to give an account upon these plates of my proceedings and my reign and ministry; Wherefore, to proceed with mine account I must speak somewhat of the things of my father, and also of my brethren.

1 Nephi 3:163 And it is a record like unto the engravings which are upon the plates of brass, save there are not so many, Nevertheless, they contain the covenants of the Lord which He hath made unto the house of Israel;

1 Nephi 5:218 And it came to pass that the Lord commanded me, wherefore I did make plates of ore, that I might engraven upon them the record of my people;

1 Nephi 5:219 And upon the plates which I made I did engraven the record of my father, and also our journeyings in the wilderness and the prophecies of my father; And also many of mine own prophecies have I engraven upon them.

1 Nephi 5:220 And I knew not at that time when I made them that I should be commanded of the Lord to make these plates;

1 Nephi 5:221 Wherefore, the record of my father and the genealogy of his forefathers and the more part of all our proceedings in the wilderness are engraven upon those first plates of which I have spoken;

1 Nephi 5:222 Wherefore, the things which transpired before that I made these plates are, of a truth, more particularly made mention upon the first plates.

1 Nephi 5:223 And after that I made these plates by way of commandment, I, Nephi, received a commandment that the ministry and the prophecies - the more plain and precious parts of them - should be written upon these plates;

1 Nephi 5:225 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did make a record upon the other plates which gives an account, or which gives a greater account, of the wars and contentions and destructions of my people;

1 Nephi 5:226 And now this have I done and commanded my people that they should do after that I was gone, And that these plates should be handed down from one generation to another, or from one prophet to another, until further commandments of the Lord.

1 Nephi 5:227 And an account of my making these plates shall be given hereafter;

1 Nephi 5:229 Nevertheless, I do not write anything upon plates save it be that I think it be sacred;

1 Nephi 5:264 Wherefore, it must needs be that we know concerning them, for they are written upon the plates of brass.

1 Nephi 6:2 And it came to pass that I did read many things to them which were engraven upon the plates of brass, that they might know concerning the doings of the Lord in other lands among people of old;

1 Nephi 7:1 And now it came to pass that after I, Nephi, after that I had read these things which were engraven upon the plates of brass, My brethren came unto me and said unto me: "What meaneth these things which ye have read?

1 Nephi 7:66 "Wherefore my brethern, I would that ye should consider that the things which have been written upon the plates of brass are true,

2 Nephi 4:49 And if my people be pleased with the things of God, they be pleased with mine engravings which are upon these plates;

2 Nephi 4:50 And if my people desire to know the more particular part of the history of my people, they must search mine other plates.

Jacob 1:1 For behold, it came to pass that fifty and five years had passed away from the time that Lehi left Jerusalem; Wherefore, Nephi gave me, Jacob, a commandment concerning these small plates upon which these things are engraven;

Jacob 1:2 And he gave me, Jacob, a commandment that I should write upon these plates a few of the things which I considered to be most precious, That I should not touch, save it were lightly, concerning the history of this people, which are called the people of Nephi;

Jacob 1:3 For he said that the history of his people should be engraven upon his other plates, And that I should preserve these plates and hand them down unto my seed from generation to generation;

Jacob 1:4 And if there were preaching which was sacred, or revelation which was great, or prophesying, That I should engraven the heads of them upon these plates, And touch upon them as much as it were possible, for Christ's sake and for the sake of our people.

Jacob 2:67 And a hundredth part of the proceedings of this people, which now began to be numerous, cannot be written upon these plates;

Jacob 2:68 But many of their proceedings are written upon the larger plates, and their wars and their contentions and the reigns of their kings.

Jacob 2:69 These plates are called the plates of Jacob and they were made by the hand of Nephi;

Jacob 3:1 Now behold, it came to pass that I, Jacob, having ministered much unto my people in word, And I cannot write but a little of my words because of the difficulty of engraving our words upon plates, And we know that the things which we write upon plates must remain,

Jacob 3:2 But whatsoever things we write upon anything, save it be upon plates, must perish and vanish away, But we can write a few words upon plates which will give our children, and also our beloved brethren, a small degree of knowledge concerning us, or concerning their fathers.

Jacob 3:3 Now in this thing we do rejoice, And we labor diligently to engraven these words upon plates, hoping that our beloved brethren and our children will receive them with thankful hearts, And look upon them, that they may learn with joy and not with sorrow, neither with contempt, concerning their first parents.

Jacob 5:42 And it came to pass that I, Jacob, began to be old; And the record of this people being kept on the other plates of Nephi, wherefore, I conclude this record, Declaring that I have written according to the best of my knowledge by saying

Jacob 5:45 And I, Jacob, saw that I must soon go down to my grave; Wherefore, I said unto my son Enos: "Take these plates."

Jacob 5:47 And I make an end of my writing upon these plates, which writing hath been small;

Omni 1:1 Behold, it came to pass that I, Omni, being commanded by my father Jarom, that I should write somewhat upon these plates to preserve our genealogy,

Omni 1:5 Yea, and in fine, two hundred and eighty and two years had passed away; And I had kept these plates according to the commandments of my fathers and I conferred them upon my son Amaron; And I make an end.

Omni 1:10 And it came to pass that I did deliver the plates unto my brother Chemish.

Omni 1:16 And behold, the record of this people is engraven upon plates which is had by the kings, according to the generations;

Omni 1:25 Now there was great rejoicing among the people of Zarahemla, And also Zarahemla did rejoice exceedingly because that the Lord had sent the people of Mosiah with the plates of brass which contained the record of the Jews.

Omni 1:33 And it came to pass that after they were taught in the language of Mosiah, Zarahemla gave a genealogy of his fathers according to his memory; And they are written, but not in these plates.

Omni 1:43 And it came to pass that I began to be old; And having no seed and knowing King Benjamin to be a just man before the Lord, Wherefore, I shall deliver up these plates unto him, Exhorting all men to come unto God, the Holy One of Israel,

Omni 1:53 And I am about to lay down in my grave; And these plates are full;

Jarom 1:2 And as these plates are small, and as these things are written for the intent of the benefit of our brethren the Lamanites, Wherefore, it must needs be that I write a little; But I shall not write the things of my prophesying, nor of my revelations,

Jarom 1:30 And I, Jarom, do not write more, for the plates are small.

Jarom 1:31 But behold, my brethren, ye can go to the other plates of Nephi, For behold, upon them the record of our wars are engraven according to the writings of the kings, or that which they caused to be written;

Jarom 1:32 And I deliver these plates into the hands of my son Omni, that they may be kept according to the commandments of my fathers.

Words of Mormon 1:4 And now I speak somewhat concerning that which I have written, For after that I had made an abridgment from the plates of Nephi down to the reign of this King Benjamin of which Amaleki spake,

Words of Mormon 1:5 I searched among the records which had been delivered into my hands, And I found these plates which contained this small account of the prophets from Jacob down to the reign of this King Benjamin, and also many of the words of Nephi.

Words of Mormon 1:6 And the things which are upon these plates pleasing me because of the prophecies of the coming of Christ, And my fathers knowing that many of them have been fulfilled,

Words of Mormon 1:8 Wherefore, I chose these things to finish my record upon them, which remainder of my record I shall take from the plates of Nephi; And I cannot write a hundredth part of the things of my people.

Words of Mormon 1:9 But behold, I shall take these plates which contain these prophesyings and revelations and put them with the remainder of my record, For they are choice unto me and I know they will be choice unto my brethren;

Words of Mormon 1:13 And now I, Mormon, proceed to finish out my record which I take from the plates of Nephi, And I make it according to the knowledge and the understanding which God hath given me.

Words of Mormon 1:14 Wherefore, it came to pass that after Amaleki had delivered up these plates into the hands of King Benjamin, He took them and put them with the other plates which contained records which had been handed down by the kings from generation to generation until the days of King Benjamin;

Mosiah 1:4 And he also taught them concerning the records which were engraven on the plates of brass, saying: "My sons, I would that ye should remember that were it not for these plates which contain these records and these commandments, We must have suffered in ignorance, even at this present time, not knowing the mysteries of God;

Mosiah 1:5 For it were not possible that our father Lehi could have remembered all these things, to have taught them to his children, except it were for the help of these plates;

Mosiah 1:10 And behold, also the plates of Nephi which contain the records and the sayings of our fathers from the time they left Jerusalem until now - and they are true; And we can know of their surety because we have them before our eyes.

Mosiah 1:23 And moreover, he also gave him charge concerning the records which were engraven on the plates of brass, And also the plates of Nephi,

Mosiah 5:57 And it came to pass that he caused that the plates which contained the record of his people from the time that they left the Land of Zarahemla should be brought before Ammon, that he might read them.

Mosiah 5:64 "And for a testimony that the things that they had said were true, they have brought twenty-four plates which are filled with engravings, And they are of pure gold.

Mosiah 5:67 "And there is no one in the land that is able to interpret the language or the engravings that are on the plates;

Mosiah 5:83 "Doubtless a great mystery is contained within these plates; And these interpreters were doubtless prepared for the purpose of unfolding all such mysteries to the children of men.

Mosiah 6:52 And again, they were wroth with him because he departed into the wilderness as the Lord had commanded him and took the records which were engraven on the plates of brass, For they said that he robbed them.

Mosiah 9:169 And they brought a record with them, even a record of the people whose bones they had found, And they were engraven on plates of ore.

Mosiah 12:15 Therefore, he took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and also the plates of Nephi and all the things which he had kept and preserved according to the commandments of God,

Mosiah 12:16 And after having translated and caused to be written the records which were on the plates of gold which had been found by the people of Limhi, which were delivered to him by the hand of Limhi -

Mosiah 13:1 And now, as I said unto you that after King Mosiah had done these things, he took the plates of brass and all the things which he had kept and conferred them upon Alma which was the son of Alma -

Alma 17:31 And now my son Helaman, I command you that ye take the records which have been entrusted with me, And I also command you that ye shall keep a record of this people, according as I have done, upon the plates of Nephi; And keep all these things sacred which I have kept, even as I have kept them - for it is for a wise purpose that they are kept -

Alma 17:32 And these plates of brass which contain these engravings, which have the records of the holy scriptures upon them, which have the genealogy of our forefathers, even from the beginning;

Alma 17:34 And now behold, if they are kept, they must retain their brightness, Yea, and they will retain their brightness, Yea, and also shall all the plates which do contain that which is holy writ.

Alma 17:38 Yea, I say unto you, were it not for these things that these records do contain, which are on these plates, Ammon and his brethren could not have convinced so many thousands of the Lamanites of the incorrect tradition of their fathers;

Alma 17:52 And now, I will speak unto you concerning those twenty - four plates, that ye keep them, That the mysteries and the works of darkness and their secret works - or the secret works of those people which have been destroyed - may be made manifest unto this people -

Alma 20:100 And thus ended the record of Alma which was written upon the plates of Nephi.

3 Nephi 1:2 And Nephi, the son of Helaman, had departed out of the Land of Zarahemla, giving charge unto his son Nephi, which was his eldest son, concerning the plates of brass and all the records which had been kept, And all those things which had been kept sacred from the departure of Lehi out of Jerusalem;

3 Nephi 2:94 Therefore, I have made my record of these things according to the record of Nephi which was engraven on the plates which were called the plates of Nephi;

3 Nephi 2:95 And behold, I do make the record on plates which I have made with mine own hands.

3 Nephi 4:73 And these things, which testify of us, are they not written upon the plates of brass which our father Lehi brought out of Jerusalem?

3 Nephi 12:1 And now there cannot be written in this book even an hundredth part of the things which Jesus did truly teach unto the people; But behold, the plates of Nephi do contain the more part of the things which He taught the people;

3 Nephi 12:5 Behold, I was about to write them all which were engraven upon the plates of Nephi, But the Lord forbid it, saying, "I will try the faith of My people"; Therefore, I, Mormon, do write the things which have been commanded me of the Lord.

4 Nephi 1:22 And it came to pass that Nephi, he that kept the last record - and he kept it upon the plates of Nephi - died, And his son Amos kept it in his stead, And he kept it upon the plates of Nephi also,

4 Nephi 1:24 And it came to pass that Amos died also; And it was an hundred and ninety and four years from the coming of Christ; And his son Amos kept the record in his stead, And he also kept it upon the plates of Nephi; And it was also written in the book of Nephi, which is this book.

Mormon 1:5 "And behold, ye shall take the plates of Nephi unto yourself, And the remainder shall ye leave in the place where they are, And ye shall engrave upon the plates of Nephi all the things that ye have observed concerning this people."

Mormon 1:44 And behold, I had gone according to the words of Ammoron and taken the plates of Nephi, And did make a record according to the words of Ammoron;

Mormon 1:45 And upon the plates of Nephi I did make a full account of all the wickedness and abominations, But upon these plates, I did forbear to make a full account of their wickedness and abominations; For behold, a continual scene of wickedness and abominations has been before mine eyes ever since I have been sufficient to behold the ways of man.

Mormon 3:8 Therefore, I made this record out of the plates of Nephi, And hid up in the Hill Cumorah all the records which had been entrusted to me by the hand of the Lord, save it were these few plates which I gave unto my son Moroni.

Mormon 4:6 And behold, I would write it also if I had room upon the plates, But I have not; And ore I have none, for I am alone; My father hath been slain in battle, and all my kinsfolk, And I have not friends, nor whither to go; And how long that the Lord will suffer that I may live, I know not.

Mormon 4:17 I am the son of Mormon and my father was a descendant of Nephi, And I am the same which hide up this record unto the Lord; The plates thereof are of no worth because of the commandment of the Lord,

Mormon 4:99 And if our plates had been sufficiently large, we should have written in the Hebrew, But the Hebrew hath been altered by us also; And if we could have written in the Hebrew, Behold, ye would have had no imperfection in our record.

Ether 1:2 And I take mine account from the twenty and four plates which were found by the people of Limhi, which is called the book of Ether;

Ether 1:4 Therefore, I do not write those things which transpired from the days of Adam until that time, But they are had upon the plates; And whoso findeth them, the same will have power that he may get the full account.

Ether 1:98 Behold, I have written upon these plates the very things which the brother of Jared saw; And there never was greater things made manifest than that which was made manifest unto the brother of Jared; Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to write them, And I have written them.

Ether 2:2 And behold, ye may be privileged that ye may show the plates unto those who shall assist to bring forth this work; And unto three shall they be shown by the power of God; Wherefore, they shall know of a surety that these things are true.
