1 Nephi 4:58 But behold, I say unto you, the kingdom of God is not filthy, and there can not any unclean thing enter into the kingdom of God;

1 Nephi 4:59 Wherefore, there must needs be a place of filthiness prepared for that which is filthy.

1 Nephi 5:15 And it came to pass that we did take our tents, and depart into the wilderness, across the river Laman.

1 Nephi 5:16 And it came to pass that we traveled for the space of four days, nearly a south, south-east direction, and we did pitch our tents again; and we did call the name of the place Shazer.

1 Nephi 5:43 And after we had traveled for the space of many days, we did pitch our tents again, that we might tarry for the space of a time.

1 Nephi 5:66 And notwithstanding we had suffered many afflictions, and much difficulty, yea, even so much that we can not write them all, we were exceedingly rejoiced when we came to the sea-shore;

1 Nephi 6:49 For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants; and they that swallowed thee up, shall be far away.

2 Nephi 1:16 And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations;

2 Nephi 3:43 And why should I yield to sin, because of my flesh?

2 Nephi 3:46 Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin.

2 Nephi 3:58 Wilt thou make my path straight before me?

2 Nephi 4:11 And after we had journeyed for the space of many days, we did pitch our tents.

2 Nephi 8:68 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

2 Nephi 8:69 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory of Zion shall be a defense.

2 Nephi 8:77 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, and behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

2 Nephi 9:35 And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk they shall give, he shall eat butter; for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

2 Nephi 10:12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

2 Nephi 10:23 For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

2 Nephi 12:28 And thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.

2 Nephi 14:11 For if ye would hearken unto the spirit which teacheth a man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray: for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.

2 Nephi 15:1 And now I, Nephi, can not write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I mighty in writing, like unto speaking: for when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost, the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.

Jacob 3:45 Wherefore, go thy way; watch the tree, and nourish it, according to my words.

Jacob 3:151 And when the time cometh that evil fruit shall again come into my vineyard, then will I cause the good and the bad to be gathered:

Jacob 4:3 And in the day that he shall set his hand again the second time to recover his people, is the day, yea, even the last time, that the servants of the Lord shall go forth in his power, to nourish and prune his vineyard; and after that, the end soon cometh.

Enos 1:44 And I have declared it, in all my days; and have rejoiced in it, above that of the world.

Enos 1:45 And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest:

Jarom 1:17 But our kings and our leaders were mighty men in the faith of the Lord; and they taught the people the ways of the Lord;

Mosiah 1:56 And he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments, he doth bless you, and prosper you.

Mosiah 1:78 And behold, also, they spake that which was commanded them of the Lord; therefore, they are just and true.

Mosiah 1:81 Therefore he listeth to obey the evil spirit, and becometh an enemy to all righteousness;

Mosiah 6:6 And yet, I being overzealous to inherit the land of our fathers, collected as many as were desirous to go up to possess the land, and started again on our journey into the wilderness, to go up to the land; but we were smitten with famine and sore afflictions; for we were slow to remember the Lord our God.

Mosiah 6:39 And it came to pass that I caused that the women and children of my people should be hid in the wilderness;

Mosiah 9:31 And he taught them privately, that it might not come to the knowledge of the king. And many did believe his words.

Mosiah 9:34 And it came to pass that as many as believed him, went thither to hear his words.

Mosiah 9:46 And again, Alma took another, and went forth a second time into the water, and baptized him according to the first, only he did not bury himself again in the water.

Mosiah 9:65 And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon; yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon:

Mosiah 9:107 And now King Limhi did have continual peace in his kingdom, for the space of two years, that the Lamanites did not molest them nor seek to destroy them.

Mosiah 11:34 Now the armies of the Lamanites which had followed after the people of King Limhi, had been lost in the wilderness for many days.

Mosiah 11:130 And whosoever ye receive, shall believe in my name; and him will I freely forgive:

Mosiah 11:131 For it is I that taketh upon me the sins of the world; for it is I that hath created them; and it is I that granteth unto him that believeth in the end, a place at my right hand.

Alma 1:120 And even so doth every man that is cursed, bring upon himself his own condemnation.

Alma 3:43 Behold, will they not testify that ye are murderers, yea, and also that ye are guilty of all manner of wickedness?

Alma 3:44 Behold, my brethren, do ye suppose that such an one can have a place to sit down in the kingdom of God, with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob, and also all the holy prophets, whose garments are cleansed, and are spotless, pure, and white?

Alma 9:64 And those priests were ordained after the order of his Son, in a manner that thereby the people might know in what manner to look forward to his Son for redemption.

Alma 9:67 And thus they have been called to this holy calling on account of their faith, while others would reject the Spirit of God on account of the hardness of their hearts and blindness of their minds, while, if it had not been for this, they might have had as great privilege as their brethren.

Alma 10:46 And they also brought forth their records, which contained the holy scriptures, and cast them into the fire also, that they might be burned and destroyed by fire.

Alma 11:30 Holding forth things which must shortly come; yea, holding forth the coming of the Son of God, his sufferings and death, and also the resurrection of the dead.

Alma 12:37 And it came to pass that he was set, among other servants, to watch the flocks of Lamoni, according to the custom of the Lamanites.

Alma 12:38 And after he had been in the service of the king three days, as he was with the Lamanitish servants, going forth with their flocks to the place of water, which was called the water of Sebus; (and all the Lamanites drive their flocks hither, that they may have water;)

Alma 12:44 Now these were the thoughts of Ammon, when he saw the afflictions of those whom he termed to be his brethren.

Alma 12:46 And thus we will reserve the flocks unto the king, and he will not slay us.

Alma 12:72 Nevertheless Lamoni began to fear exceedingly, with fear lest he had done wrong in slaying his servants;

Alma 12:107 And he said, Yea, I believe that he created all things which are in the earth; but I do not know the heavens.

Alma 12:219 And as it happened, it was their lot to have fallen into the hands of a more hardened and a more stiff-necked people;

Alma 13:26 And he did also declare unto them that they were a people who were under him, and that they were a free people; that they were free from the oppressions of the king, his father; for that his father had granted unto him that he might reign over the people who were in the land of Ishmael, and in all the land round about.

Alma 13:70 Now the more idle part of the Lamanites lived in the wilderness, and dwelt in tents; and they were spread through the wilderness, on the west, in the land of Nephi:

Alma 13:73 Nevertheless the Nephites had taken possession of all the northern parts of the land, bordering on the wilderness, at the head of the river Sidon, from the east to the west, round about on the wilderness side; on the north, even until they came to the land which they called Bountiful.

Alma 13:82 And now I, having said this, return again to the account of Ammon, and Aaron, Omner, and Himni, and their brethren.

Alma 14:47 And thus we see, that they buried the weapons of peace, or they buried the weapons of war, for peace.

Alma 14:85 And behold the number of your sheaves, and they shall be gathered into the garners, that they are not wasted; yea, they shall not be beaten down by the storm, at the last day;

Alma 15:15 And it came to pass that Ammon said unto them, Behold, I and my brethren will go forth into the land of Zarahemla, and ye shall remain here until we return; and we will try the hearts of our brethren, whether they will that ye shall come into their land.

Alma 16:50 Believest thou that these things are true?

Alma 16:88 Now when they had come into the land, behold, to their astonishment, they found that the Zoramites had built synagogues, and that they did gather themselves together on one day of the week, which day they did call the day of the Lord;

Alma 16:96 For behold every man did go forth and offer up the same prayers.

Alma 16:125 And they came unto Alma; and the one who was the foremost among them, said unto him, Behold, what shall these my brethren do, for they are despised of all men, because of their poverty; yea, and more especially by our priests;

Alma 16:143 And now as I said concerning faith: Faith, is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith, ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.

Alma 16:150 Ye can not know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge.

Alma 16:152 Now we will compare the word unto a seed.

Alma 16:233 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance, even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his;

Alma 16:236 Yea, and he has also said, that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white, through the blood of the Lamb.

Alma 16:253 And thus ended the seventeenth year of the reign of the Judges, over the people of Nephi.

Alma 19:7 Know ye not, my son, that these things are an abomination in the sight of the Lord; yea, most abominable above all sins, save it be the shedding of innocent blood, or denying the Holy Ghost?

Alma 19:75 And now, my son, all men that are in a state of nature, or I would say, in a carnal state, are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bonds of iniquity; they are without God in the world, and they have gone contrary to the nature of God; therefore they are in a state contrary to the nature of happiness.

Alma 21:36 And thus were the affairs of the people of Nephi exceeding precarious and dangerous, notwithstanding their great victory which they had had over the Lamanites, and their great rejoicings which they had had, because of their deliverance by the hands of the Lord.

Alma 21:83 And now he had got the command of those parts of the Lamanites who were in favor of the king; and he sought to gain favor of those who were not obedient;

Alma 21:86 And it came to pass that they had gathered themselves together upon the top of the mount which was called Antipas in preparation to battle.

Alma 21:115 Therefore when the queen had received this message, she sent unto Amalickiah, desiring him that he would spare the people of the city; and she also desired him that he should come in unto her; and she also desired him that he should bring witnesses with him, to testify concerning the death of the king.

Alma 21:129 Yea, he had been strengthening the armies of the Nephites, and erecting small forts, or places of resort; throwing up banks of earth round about to enclose his armies, and also building walls of stone to encircle them about, round about their cities, and the borders of their lands; yea, all round about the land;

Alma 21:151 Behold, I said that the city of Ammonihah had been rebuilt. I say unto you, yea, that it was in part rebuilt, and because the Lamanites had destroyed it once because of the iniquity of the people, they supposed that it would again become an easy prey for them.

Alma 21:162 And behold, his chief captains durst not attack the Nephites at the city of Ammonihah, for Moroni had altered the management of affairs among the Nephites, insomuch that the Lamanites were disappointed in their places of retreat, and they could not come upon them;

Alma 21:165 Therefore they marched forward to the land of Noah, with a firm determination; yea, their chief captains came forward, and took an oath that they would destroy the people of that city.

Alma 21:171 And thus were the Nephites prepared to destroy all such as should attempt to climb up to enter the fort by any other way, by casting over stones and arrows at them.

Alma 21:172 Thus they were prepared; yea, a body of their most strong men, with their swords and their slings, to smite down all who should attempt to come into their place of security, by the place of entrance; and thus were they prepared to defend themselves against the Lamanites.

Alma 22:25 And it came to pass that the twenty and second year of the reign of the Judges, also ended in peace; yea, and also the twenty and third year.

Alma 22:38 And thus ended the twenty and fourth year of the reign of the Judges over the people of Nephi. And thus were the people of Morianton brought back.

Alma 25:23 And as concerning that God whom ye say we have rejected, behold, we know not such a being; neither do ye; but if it so be that there is such a being, we know not but that he hath made us as well as you;

Alma 25:28 And he said, Behold, I will not exchange prisoners with Ammoron, save he will withdraw his purpose, as I have stated in my epistle; for I will not grant unto him that he shall have any more power than what he hath got.

Alma 26:17 Yea, and they were depressed in body as well as in spirit; for they had fought valiantly by day, and toiled by night, to maintain their cities; and thus they had suffered great afflictions of every kind.

Alma 26:67 And with such mighty power did they fall upon the Lamanites, that they did frighten them; and for this cause did the Lamanites deliver themselves up as prisoners of war.

Alma 26:138 And when we saw that they were making preparations to come out against us, behold, I caused that Gid, with a small number of men, should secrete himself in the wilderness, and also that Teomner should, with a small number of men, secrete themselves also in the wilderness.

Alma 29:3 And it came to pass that Moroni took a small number of men according to the desire of Pahoran, and gave Lehi and Teancum command over the remainder of his army, and took his march towards the land of Gideon.

Alma 29:42 And it came to pass that Teancum in his anger did go forth into the camp of the Lamanites, and did let himself down over the walls of the city.

Alma 29:51 And many were softened, because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God, even in the depth of humility.

Helaman 1:40 For there was one Gadianton who was exceeding expert in many words, and also in his craft, to carry on the secret work of murder and of robbery; therefore he became the leader of the band of Kishkumen;

Helaman 2:49 And it came to pass that they did repent, and inasmuch as they did repent, they did begin to prosper;

Helaman 3:23 And ye have set your hearts upon the riches and the vain things of this world, for the which ye do murder, and plunder, and steal, and bear false witness against your neighbor, and do all manner of iniquity; and for this cause wo shall come unto you except ye shall repent.

Helaman 3:36 And those judges were angry with him because he spake plain unto them concerning their secret works of darkness; nevertheless they durst not lay their own hands upon him; for they feared the people, lest they should cry out against them; therefore they did cry unto the people, saying, Why do ye suffer this man to revile against us?

Helaman 3:73 Now immediately when the judge had been murdered; he being stabbed by his brother by a garb of secrecy; and he fled, and the servants ran and told the people, raising the cry of murder among them.

Helaman 3:82 And it came to pass that the judges desired that they should be brought; and they were brought, and behold they were the five who were sent;

Helaman 5:87 And now my beloved brethren, behold, I declare unto you that except ye shall repent, your houses shall be left unto you desolate; yea, except ye repent, your women shall have great cause to mourn in the day they shall give suck;

Helaman 5:102 Yea, I say unto you, that in the latter times, the promises of the Lord hath been extended to our brethren, the Lamanites;

3 Nephi 2:30 And they had taken their horses, and their chariots, and their cattle, and all their flocks, and their herds, and their grain, and all their substance,

3 Nephi 2:60 And it came to pass that Giddianhi, who had stood and fought with boldness, was pursued as he fled; and being weary because of his much fighting, he was overtaken and slain. And thus was the end of Giddianhi, the robber.

3 Nephi 2:64 For they did suppose that if they should cut off the people of Nephi from their lands, and should hem them in on every side, and if they should cut them off from all their outward privileges, that they could cause them to yield themselves up according to their wishes.

3 Nephi 2:71 And it came to pass that Zemnarihah did give command unto his people, that they should withdraw themselves from the siege, and march into the furthermost parts of the land, northward.

3 Nephi 3:7 And now it was Gidgiddoni, and the judge Lachoneus, and those who had been appointed leaders, who had established this great peace in the land.

3 Nephi 3:43 And thus six years had not passed away, since the more part of the people had turned from their righteousness, like the dog to his vomit, or like the sow to her wallowing in the mire.

3 Nephi 4:8 And the city of Zarahemla did take fire; and the city of Moroni did sink into the depths of the sea, and the inhabitants thereof were drowned;

3 Nephi 13:51 Therefore that they might not taste of death, there was a change wrought upon their bodies, that they might not suffer pain nor sorrow, save it were for the sins of the world.

DC 58:15c And let them also return, preaching the gospel by the way, bearing record of the things which are revealed unto them;

DC 59:5d I, the Lord, have spoken it and the Spirit beareth record. Amen.

DC 60:2c But verily I will speak unto you concerning your journey unto the land from whence you came.

DC 60:2d Let there be a craft made, or bought, as seemeth you good, it mattereth not unto me, and take your journey speedily for the place which is called Saint Louis.

DC 61:5c And again, verily I say unto you, My servants Sidney Rigdon, and Joseph Smith, Jr., and Oliver Cowdery, shall not open their mouths in the congregations of the wicked, until they arrive at Cincinnati;

DC 64:5b for verily I say, Tomorrow all the proud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, for I am the Lord of hosts; and I will not spare any that remaineth in Babylon. Wherefore, if ye believe me, ye will labor while it is called to day.

DC 64:7b and the rebellious shall be cut off out of the land of Zion, and shall be sent away, and shall not inherit the land; for, verily, I say that the rebellious are not of the blood of Ephraim, wherefore they shall be plucked out.

DC 66:2b And now verily I, the Lord, will show unto you what I will concerning you, or what is my will concerning you; behold, verily I say unto you, that it is my will that you should proclaim my gospel from land to land, and from city to city; yea, in those regions round about where it has not been proclaimed.

DC 66:3a Tarry not many days in this place; go not up unto the land of Zion, as yet; but inasmuch as you can send, send; otherwise think not of thy property.

DC 66:3b Go unto the eastern lands; bear testimony in every place, unto every people, and in their synagogues; reasoning with the people.

DC 69:1b and also that he shall continue in writing and making a history of all the important things which he shall observe and know concerning my church; and also that he receive counsel and assistance from my servant Oliver Cowdery, and others.

DC 69:2a And also my servants who are abroad in the earth should send forth the accounts of their stewardships to the land of Zion, for the land of Zion shall be a seat and a place to receive and do all these things;

DC 70:4a Now this commandment I give unto my servants, for their benefit while they remain, for a manifestation of my blessings upon their heads, and for a reward of their diligence, and for their security for food and for raiment, for an inheritance;

DC 75:5a And again, verily I say unto you, that every man who is obliged to provide for his own family, let him provide and he shall in no wise lose his crown; and let him labor in the church.

DC 76:4h that through him all might be saved, whom the Father had put into his power, and made by him; who glorifies the Father, and saves all the works of his hands, except those sons of perdition, who deny the Son after the Father has revealed him;

DC 76:5m these are they who shall come forth in the resurrection of the just;

DC 77:1b and listen to the counsel of him who has ordained you, from on high, who shall speak in your ears the words of wisdom, that salvation may be unto you in that thing which you have presented before me, saith the Lord God;

DC 77:1f for if ye are not equal in earthly things, ye cannot be equal in obtaining heavenly things;

DC 78:Intro SECTION 78 Revelation addressed to Jared Carter given through Joseph Smith, Jr., March 1832, at Hiram, Ohio.

DC 79:1e Behold, this is the will of him who hath called you, your Redeemer, even Jesus Christ. Amen.

DC 83:1c which city shall be built, beginning at the Temple Lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jr., and others, with whom the Lord was well pleased.

DC 83:9b Blessed are ye inasmuch as you receive these things; for I will forgive you of your sins with this commandment, that you remain steadfast in your minds in solemnity, and the spirit of prayer, in bearing testimony to all the world of those things which are communicated unto you.

DC 85:6f and also they who are quickened by a portion of the telestial glory, shall then receive of the same, even a fullness:

DC 85:19a Remember the great and last promise which I have made unto you: cast away your idle thoughts and your excess of laughter far from you;

DC 85:35d And the Devil shall gather together his armies, even the hosts of hell, and shall come up to battle against Michael and his armies: and then cometh the battle of the great God!

DC 85:39b or, in other words, those who are called to the ministry in the church, beginning at the high priests, even down to the deacons; and this shall be the order of the house of the presidency of the school:

DC 85:41 Art thou a brother or brethren, I salute you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in token or remembrance of the everlasting covenant, in which covenant I receive you to fellowship, in a determination that is fixed, immovable, and unchangeable, to be your friend and brother, through the grace of God, in the bonds of love, to walk in all the commandments of God blameless, in thanksgiving, for ever and ever. Amen.

DC 87:5e Set in order your houses; keep slothfulness and uncleanliness far from you.

DC 87:6a Now, verily I say unto thee, Let there be a place provided as soon as it is possible, for the family of thy counselor and scribe, even Frederick G. Williams;

DC 87:8c and I am not well pleased with my servant William E. McLellin, neither with my servant Sidney Gilbert; and the bishop also; and others have many things to repent of;

DC 90:8b I called you servants for the world's sake, and you are their servants for my sake; and now verily I say unto Joseph Smith, Jr., You have not kept the commandments, and must needs stand rebuked before the Lord.

DC 90:8c Your family must needs repent and forsake some things, and give more earnest heed unto your sayings, or be removed out of their place.

DC 90:8d What I say unto one I say unto all: Pray always, lest that wicked one have power in you, and remove you out of your place.

DC 93:1a Behold, I say unto you, Here is wisdom whereby ye may know how to act concerning this matter, for it is expedient in me that this stake that I have set for the strength of Zion, should be made strong:

DC 94:3b behold, this is the tithing and the sacrifice which I, the Lord, require at their hands, that there may be an house built unto me for the salvation of Zion;

DC 94:5a And now, behold, if Zion do these things, she shall prosper and spread herself and become very glorious, very great, and very terrible;

DC 95:3e And again, the hearts of the Jews unto the prophets; and the prophets unto the Jews, lest I come and smite the whole earth with a curse, and all flesh be consumed before me.

DC 97:1a Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my friends, Sidney, and Joseph, your families are well; they are in mine hands, and I will do with them as seemeth me good; for in me there is all power; therefore, follow me, and listen to the counsel which I shall give unto you.

DC 97:1b Behold, and lo, I have much people in this place, in the regions round about, and an effectual door shall be opened in the regions round about in this eastern land;

DC 98:4f Therefore, let your hearts be comforted concerning Zion, for all flesh is in mine hands: be still, and know that I am God.

DC 98:4g Zion shall not be moved out of her place, notwithstanding her children are scattered, they that remain and are pure in heart shall return and come to their inheritances; they and their children, with songs of everlasting joy; to build up the waste places of Zion. And all these things, that the prophets might be fulfilled.

DC 98:12a Let them importune at the feet of the judge; and if he heed them not, let them importune at the feet of the governor; and if the governor heed them not, let them importune at the feet of the president;

DC 99:4a Voted: that the high council can not have power to act without seven of the above-named councilors, or their regularly appointed successors, are present.

DC 101:3a And now, verily I say unto you, concerning the properties of the order:

DC 101:4b And let my servant Mahemson devote his moneys for the proclaiming of my words, according as my servant Gazelam shall direct.

DC 101:10d for the purpose of building up my church and kingdom on the earth, and to prepare my people for the time when I shall dwell with them, which is nigh at hand.

DC 101:12i But in case of transgression the treasurer shall be subject unto the counsel and voice of the order.

DC 103:Intro SECTION 103 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., at Kirtland, Ohio, November 25, 1834. It was addressed to Warren A. Cowdery of Freedom, New York.

DC 104:20 Enos was ordained at the age of one hundred and thirty-four years, and four months, by the hand of Adam.

DC 105:7b for on them have I laid the burden of all the churches for a little season;

DC 105:10b First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord.

DC 107:8c Let no man despise my servant George, for he shall honor me.

DC 107:10c and with iron, with copper, and with brass, and with zinc, and with all your precious things of the earth, and build a house to my name, for the Most High to dwell therein;

DC 107:13b for I deign to reveal unto my church things which have been kept hid from before the foundation of the world; things that pertain to the dispensation of the fullness of times;

DC 107:13c and I will show unto my servant Joseph all things pertaining to this house, and the priesthood thereof; and the place whereon it shall be built;

DC 107:13d and ye shall build it on the place where you have contemplated building it; for that is the spot which I have chosen for you to build it.

DC 107:16b for I am the Lord your God, and will save all those of your brethren who have been pure in heart, and have been slain in the land of Missouri, saith the Lord.

DC 107:18a And now I say unto you, as pertaining to my boarding house, which I have commanded you to build, for the boarding of strangers,

DC 107:18c and as I said unto Abraham, concerning the kindreds of the earth, even so I say unto my servant Joseph, In thee, and in thy seed, shall the kindred of the earth be blessed.

DC 107:20b and if they do appropriate any portion of that stock anywhere else, only in that house, without the consent of the stockholder, and do not repay fourfold for the stock which they appropriate anywhere else, only in that house,

DC 107:27c And with my servant Almon Babbitt there are many things with which I am not well pleased; behold, he aspireth to establish his council instead of the council which I have ordained, even the presidency of my church, and he setteth up a golden calf for the worship of my people.

DC 107:46c and a commandment I give unto you that you should fill all these offices and approve of those names which I have mentioned, or else disapprove of them, at my General Conference, and that ye should prepare rooms for all these offices in my house when you build it unto my name, saith the Lord your God. Even so. Amen.

DC 108:5e and he shall utter his voice out of Zion, and he shall speak from Jerusalem, and his voice shall be heard among all people, and it shall be a voice as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder, which shall break down the mountains, and the valleys shall not be found;

DC 109:1a Forasmuch as the Lord has revealed unto me that my enemies, both in Missouri and this state, were again on the pursuit of me; and inasmuch as they pursue me without a cause, and have not the least shadow or coloring of justice or right on their side in the getting up of their prosecutions against me;

DC 110:Intro SECTION 110 This section is a continuation of the letter of Joseph Smith, Jr., addressed to the Saints of Nauvoo, Illinois (Doctrine and Covenants 109). It was written September 6, 1842, while Joseph was hiding from his persecutors and was first published in the "Times and Seasons" for October 1, 1842 (3:934). It was included in the second (1844) edition of the Doctrine and Covenants and has been retained in all subsequent editions. The Conference of 1970 ordered its removal to the Appendix. Concerning "baptism for the dead" see the Introduction to Section 107 (Appendix A). NAUVOO, SEPTEMBER 6, 1842

DC 110:7b consequently, the books spoken of must be the books which contained the record of their works, and refer to the records which are kept on the earth.

DC 110:12b To be immersed in the water, and come forth out of the water, is in the likeness of the resurrection of the dead in coming forth out of their graves; hence this ordinance was instituted to form a relationship with the ordinance of baptism for the dead, being in likeness of the dead.

DC 110:18c It is the baptism for the dead. For we without them cannot be made perfect; neither can they without us be made perfect.

DC 113:5a "And it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord that he would give unto the Gentiles grace, that they might have charity. And it came to pass that the Lord said unto me, If they have not charity, it mattereth not unto thee, thou hast been faithful; wherefore thy garments shall be made clean.

DC 114:Intro SECTION 114 The first General Epistle of the Twelve under the presidency of Joseph Smith III, son of the Martyr, was addressed: "To all the Saints scattered abroad." To this Epistle an appendix was added by President Smith. The appendix was in the nature of a revelation from God and was so accepted by the church at the semiannual conference of 1871. Its inclusion in the Doctrine and Covenants was authorized by the semiannual conference of 1878. This is the first revelation given to the church through President Joseph Smith III. It was dated October 7, 1861. The Epistle and appendix were published October 25, 1861.

DC 120:2d or if an elder be chosen who may by experience be found qualified to preside, as soon as practicable thereafter he should be ordained an high priest by the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the one ordaining, and by direction of a high council, or General Conference, as required in the law.

DC 122:11 The Spirit saith further: That it is wisdom that the Presidency and Twelve in council together make such appointments as may be necessary to provide for the fields not named in the appointments made by the Presidency and recommended to the Twelve, as may be agreed by them.

DC 122:16a And now I say unto you mine elders, apostles and high priests of my church, Continue ye in the ministry unto which you have been called; and if ye cannot fully agree on all the points of the law, be patient and be not contentious; so far as you can agree work together without heat, confusion, or malice.

DC 124:2c he to sit in council with his brethren of the Presidency and act with and for them and the church; though he shall still be and act in the office of his calling of Bishop of the church with his brethren of the Bishopric.

DC 124:4b And, if these will accept this appointment and remain humble, faithful, and diligent, they shall with their brethren be greatly blessed in ministering the word and bringing souls unto me. Let the quorum be not doubting but believing and I, the Lord, will bless them.

DC 125:4c He is not to meddle with branch affairs or district affairs.

DC 127:Intro SECTION 127 In the first decade of the twentieth century, the establishment of the Independence and Lamoni stakes (1901) and the kingdom concern of President Frederick M. Smith combined with other favorable factors to quicken church-wide interest in the Gathering. The building of Zionic institutions is vital to any significant gathering. By 1906 Graceland College had weathered her fist ten difficult years, the Saints' Home was giving good ministry, and leading women were showing interest in a children's home. At the pre-Conference sessions of April 1906, the First Presidency recommended to the Quorum of Twelve that a sanitarium be established with Dr. Joseph Luff of that quorum as its presiding officer. The Twelve favored the basic proposal, but expressed concern regarding the assignment of an apostle to the responsibilities proposed for Dr. Luff. The Quorum stated that they would "gladly engage in an effort to learn the Master's will" in this matter. The prayerful inquiries resulting from this action prepared the way for the following revelation given through President Joseph Smith. It was presented to the General Conference, April 14, 1906, at Independence, Missouri, and accepted by unanimous vote. Thus saith the Spirit unto the Church:

DC 128:7b This can not refer to the inhabitants of Zion who are the pure in heart, but must refer to the places which have been occupied or which it may be contemplated to occupy in the regions round about.

DC 129:9c So be ye encouraged and press on to the consummation designed of God for his people--unity, honor, sanctification, and glory. Amen. JOSEPH SMITH. LAMONI, IOWA, April 18, 1909

DC 130:2c and stand with their associates among the high priests and patriarchs of the church for such special service as may be open to them, according to wisdom and the call of the Spirit.

DC 130:7e and thus permit the accumulation of tithes and offerings in such amounts as may be needful to properly discharge the existing indebtedness of the church as a body. And the Spirit counseleth the church in this regard.

DC 136:1c In the work of the office Bishop G. Leslie DeLapp should be associated as counselor, and one other be named by Bishop Curry, as wisdom and the voice of inspiration may indicate, the selection to be ratified by the conference.

DC 136:3a The movements toward better understanding of ministerial responsibilities, duties, and goals, and toward unity of endeavor in teaching, preaching, evangelizing, and the perfecting of the Saints, are pleasing to the Lord.

DC 137:Intro SECTION 137 Revelation given through President Frederick M. Smith at Independence, Missouri, April 7, 1938. The conference adopted this "communication with its provisions as the voice of divine inspiration to the church." To the Church: Since the creation of two vacancies in the Quorum of Twelve I have been quite concerned about the condition of that quorum, as well as other bodies in the church, and after due meditation and prayer for divine light, I am permitted to present the following for the consideration and action of the conference members:

DC 140:3 My servant John W. Rushton has served his generation and the church long and faithfully, and he is honorably released from further responsibility as a member of the Quorum of Twelve, continuing to minister in his priesthood as he can and may desire, without specific assignment. His works are with me and his reward is sure.

DC 142:Intro SECTION 142 Revelation presented by President Israel A. Smith to the General Conference on April 2, 1950. It was considered and approved by the quorums and the Conference and accepted as the word of God to the church. Provision was made for its inclusion in future editions of the Doctrine and Covenants. In an introductory paragraph, the prophet said: "We approach the general Conference with a vacancy in our official circle. The death of President Garver left the Quorum of the First Presidency incomplete. This and other conditions have given me grave concern for the church. "I have earnestly sought divine guidance, and it is with gratitude that I am able to transmit through the appointed channels that which the voice of inspiration directs me to say:" To the Elders and to the Church:

DC 142:1a It is wisdom that the leading quorums should be filled. Therefore, to take the place of my servant John F. Garver, whose sacrifices and labor were acceptable to me,
