DC 42:19a The priests and teachers shall have their stewardships, even as the members; and the elders, or high priests who are appointed to assist the bishop as counselors, in all things are to have their families supported out of the property which is consecrated to the bishop,
DC 42:19b for the good of the poor, and for other purposes, as before mentioned, or they are to receive a just
remuneration for all their services; either a stewardship, or otherwise, as may be thought best, or decided by the counselors and bishop.
DC 69:2b nevertheless, let my servant John Whitmer travel many times from place to place, and from church to church, that he may the more easily obtain knowledge--preaching and expounding, writing, copying, selecting, and obtaining all things which shall be for the good of the church, and for the rising generations, that shall grow up on the land of Zion, to possess it from generation to generation, for ever and ever.
