Words of Mormon 1:13 And now I, Mormon, proceed to finish out my record, which I take from the plates of Nephi; and I make it according to the knowledge and the understanding which God has given me.

Words of Mormon 1:14 Wherefore, it came to pass that after Amaleki had delivered up these plates into the hands of King Benjamin, he took them and put them with the other plates, which contained records which had been handed down by the kings, from generation to generation, until the days of King Benjamin;

Words of Mormon 1:20 But behold, King Benjamin gathered together his armies, and he did stand against them; and he did fight with the strength of his own arm, with the sword of Laban;

Words of Mormon 1:21 And in the strength of the Lord they did contend against their enemies, until they had slain many thousands of the Lamanites.

Mosiah 1:9 O my sons, I would that ye should remember that these sayings are true; and also, that these records are true.

Mosiah 1:76 I say unto you, that there are not any among you, except it be your little children, that have not been taught concerning these things, but what knoweth that ye are eternally indebted to your heavenly Father,

Mosiah 5:29 And also, that God who brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, and caused that they should walk through the Red Sea on dry ground, and fed them with manna, that they might not perish in the wilderness; and many more things did he do for them.

Mosiah 5:53 And it came to pass that after king Limhi had made an end of speaking to his people, for he spake many things unto them, and only a few of them have I written in this book, he told his people all the things concerning their brethren who were in the land of Zarahemla;

Mosiah 5:86 Yea, they are as a wild flock, which fleeth from the shepherd, and scattereth, and are driven, and are devoured by the beasts of the forest.

Mosiah 6:3 But he being an austere and a bloodthirsty man, commanded that I should be slain; but I was rescued by the shedding of much blood;

Mosiah 9:39 And now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another's burdens, that they may be light;

Mosiah 9:43 And now it came to pass that Alma took Helam, he being one of the first, and went and stood forth in the water, and cried, saying, O Lord, pour out thy Spirit upon thy servant, that he may do this work with holiness of heart.

Mosiah 9:162 For they were desirous to take them, that they might punish them: for they had come into the land of Nephi by night, and carried off their grain, and many of their precious things; therefore they laid wait for them.

Mosiah 11:80 And now all the people of Nephi were assembled together, and also all the people of Zarahemla, and they were gathered together in two bodies.

Mosiah 11:81 And it came to pass that Mosiah did read, and caused to be read, the records of Zeniff to his people; yea, he read the records of the people of Zeniff, from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until they returned again.

Mosiah 11:179 And now the astonishment of Alma was so great, that he became dumb, that he could not open his mouth; yea, and he became weak, even that he could not move his hands:

Mosiah 12:22 Now after Mosiah had finished translating these records, behold, it gave an account of the people, who were destroyed, from the time that they were destroyed, back to the building of the great tower, at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people;

Mosiah 13:24 Behold what great destruction did come upon them; and also because of their iniquities, they were brought into bondage.

Alma 1:51 And it came to pass that by thus exercising the law upon them, every man suffering according to that which he had done, they become more still, and durst not commit any wickedness, if it were known:

Alma 6:39 And they had power given unto them, insomuch that they could not be confined in dungeons; neither were it possible that any man could slay them;

Alma 7:33 Having been saved from famine, and from sickness, and all manner of diseases of every kind;

Alma 8:8 Nevertheless, I did harden my heart, for I was called many times, and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know;

Alma 8:54 And the names are given by the Nephites; for they did not reckon after the manner of the Jews who were at Jerusalem; neither did they measure after the manner of the Jews,

Alma 9:17 And therefore he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word;

Alma 9:18 And he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God, until they know them in full;

Alma 10:74 And their chief judge stood before them, and smote them again, and said unto them, If ye have the power of God, deliver yourselves from these bands, and then we will believe that the Lord will destroy this people according to your words.

Alma 10:89 And also Zeezrom lay sick at Sidom, with a burning fever, which was caused by the great tribulations of his mind, on account of his wickedness, for he supposed that Alma and Amulek were no more; and he supposed that they had been slain, by the cause of his iniquity.

Alma 10:111 And thus ended the tenth year of the reign of the Judges over the people of Nephi.

Alma 11:19 And it was called Desolation of Nehors; for they were of the profession of Nehor, who were slain; and their lands remained desolate.

Alma 12:33 And the king inquired of Ammon if it were his desire to dwell in the land among the Lamanites, or among his people?

Alma 12:140 And Ammon said unto her, Blessed art thou, because of thy exceeding faith; I say unto thee, woman, there has not been such great faith among all the people of the Nephites.

Alma 12:219 And as it happened, it was their lot to have fallen into the hands of a more hardened and a more stiff-necked people;

Alma 13:72 And also there were many Lamanites on the east by the sea-shore, whither the Nephites had driven them. And thus the Nephites were nearly surrounded by the Lamanites;

Alma 14:74 And they did also bury their weapons of war, according as their brethren had, and they began to be a righteous people; and they did walk in the ways of the Lord, and did observe to keep his commandments, and his statutes, yea, and they did keep the Law of Moses; for it was expedient that they should keep the Law of Moses as yet, for it was not all fulfilled.

Alma 15:8 And Ammon said, I will go and inquire of the Lord, and if he said unto us, Go down unto our brethren, will ye go?

Alma 15:14 And they gathered together all their people; yea, all the people of the Lord, and did gather together all their flocks and herds, and departed out of the land, and came into the wilderness which divided the land of Nephi from the land of Zarahemla, and came over near the borders of the land.

Alma 16:3 But it came to pass after they had buried their dead, and also after the days of fastings, and mourning, and prayer, (and it was in the sixteenth year of the reign of the Judges over the people of Nephi,) there began to be continual peace throughout all the land, yea, and the people did observe to keep the commandments of the Lord;

Alma 16:39 And he did rise up in great swelling words before Alma, and did revile against the priests and teachers, accusing them of leading away the people after the silly traditions of their fathers, for the sake of glutting in the labors of the people.

Alma 16:68 And he said unto me, There is no God; yea, and he taught me that which I should say. And I have taught his words; and I taught them, because they were pleasing unto the carnal mind;

Alma 16:75 And Korihor did go about from house to house, begging food for his support.

Alma 16:98 Now from this stand, they did offer up, every man, the selfsame prayer unto God, thanking their God that they were chosen of him, and that he did not lead them away after the tradition of their brethren; and that their hearts were not stolen away to believe in things to come, which they knew nothing about.

Alma 16:150 Ye can not know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge.

Alma 16:171 And because of your diligence, and your faith, and your patience with the word, in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by, ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white; yea, and pure above all that is pure;

Alma 16:228 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God: yea, behold, the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.

Alma 16:232 Nay, ye can not say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.

Alma 17:21 But behold, my limbs did receive their strength again, and I stood upon my feet, and did manifest unto the people that I had been born of God;

Alma 17:32 And these plates of brass which contain these engravings, which have the records of the holy scriptures upon them, which have the genealogy of our forefathers, even from the beginning.

Alma 18:8 Yea, and I have seen an angel face to face; and he spake with me, and his voice was as thunder, and it shook the whole earth.

Alma 19:28 Now my son, here is somewhat more I would say unto thee: for I perceive that thy mind is worried concerning the resurrection of the dead.

Alma 19:46 And these shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping, and wailing and gnashing of teeth; and this because of their own iniquity; being led captive by the will of the devil.

Alma 19:55 Now my son, I do not say that their resurrection cometh at the resurrection of Christ; but behold, I give it as my opinion, that the souls and the bodies are reunited, of the righteous at the resurrection of Christ, and his ascension into heaven.

Alma 19:68 The one on the one hand, the other on the other; the one raised to happiness, according to his desires of happiness; or good, according to his desires of good; and the other to evil, according to his desires of evil; for as he has desired to do evil all the day long, even so shall he have his reward of evil, when the night cometh.

Alma 20:41 They being shielded from the more vital parts of the body, or the more vital parts of the body being shielded from the strokes of the Lamanites, by their breastplates, and their arm-shields, and their head-plates; and thus the Nephites did carry on the work of death among the Lamanites.

Alma 21:7 Then Alma said unto him, Blessed art thou: and the Lord shall prosper thee in this land.

Alma 21:9 And these are the words: Behold, I perceive that this very people, the Nephites, according to the spirit of revelation which is in me, in four hundred years from the time that Jesus Christ shall manifest himself unto them, shall dwindle in unbelief;

Alma 21:14 But whosoever remaineth, and is not destroyed in that great and dreadful day, shall be numbered among the Lamanites, and shall become like unto them, all, save it be a few, who shall be called the disciples of the Lord;

Alma 21:46 And it came to pass that when he had poured out his soul to God, he gave all the land which was south of the land Desolation: yea, and in fine, all the land, both on the north and south, a chosen land, and the land of liberty.

Alma 21:71 And it came to pass also, that he caused the title of liberty to be hoisted upon every tower which was in all the land, which was possessed by the Nephites; and thus Moroni planted the standard of liberty among the Nephites.

Alma 21:176 But behold, in these attempts, they were swept off by the stones and the arrows which were thrown at them; and instead of filling up their ditches by pulling down the banks of earth, they were filled up in a measure, with their dead and wounded bodies.

Alma 22:34 Therefore Moroni sent an army, with their camp, to head the people of Morianton, to stop their flight into the land northward.

Alma 23:37 But behold, he met with a disappointment, by being repulsed by Teancum and his men, for they were great warriors: for every man of Teancum did exceed the Lamanites in their strength, and in their skill of war, insomuch that they did gain advantage over the Lamanites.

Alma 24:7 Yea, and truly he was preparing to defend himself against them, by casting up walls round about, and preparing places of resort.

Alma 24:34 And thus Moroni had obtained possession of the city Mulek, with a part of his army, while he marched with the remainder to meet the Lamanites, when they should return from the pursuit of Teancum.

Alma 24:39 And it came to pass that before the Lamanites had retreated far, they were surrounded by the Nephites; by the men of Moroni on one hand, and the men of Lehi on the other, all of whom were fresh and full of strength; but the Lamanites were wearied, because of their long march.

Alma 24:55 And he caused that they should build a breastwork of timbers upon the inner bank of the ditch; and they cast up dirt out of the ditch against the breastwork of timbers;

Alma 25:11 But behold, it supposeth me that I talk to you concerning these things in vain; or it supposeth me that thou art a child of hell; therefore, I will close my epistle, by telling you that I will not exchange prisoners, save it be on conditions that ye will deliver up a man, and his wife, and his children, for one prisoner; if this be the case that ye will do it, I will exchange.

Alma 25:28 And he said, Behold, I will not exchange prisoners with Ammoron, save he will withdraw his purpose, as I have stated in my epistle; for I will not grant unto him that he shall have any more power than what he hath got.

Alma 25:61 And now it came to pass that it was expedient for Moroni to make preparations to attack the city Morianton.

Alma 26:38 And it came to pass that Antipus did march forth, with a part of his army, leaving the remainder to maintain the city.

Alma 26:48 Now we were not sufficiently strong to contend with them; yea, I would not suffer that my little sons should fall into their hands; therefore we did continue our march; and we took our march into the wilderness.

Alma 26:126 And the Lamanites were sallying forth against us, from time to time, resolving by stratagem to destroy us; nevertheless, we could not come to battle with them, because of their retreats and their strongholds.

Alma 27:43 Now I would that ye should remember that God has said that the inward vessel shall be cleaned first, and then shall the outer vessel be cleansed also.

Alma 27:45 And except ye grant mine epistle, and come out and shew unto me a true spirit of freedom, and strive to strengthen and fortify our armies, and grant unto them food for their support, behold, I will leave a part of my freemen to maintain this part of our land, and I will leave the strength and the blessings of God upon them, that none other power can operate against them; and this because of their exceeding faith and their patience in their tribulations;

Alma 28:20 Therefore come unto me speedily, with a few of your men, and leave the remainder in the charge of Lehi and Teancum; give unto them power to conduct the war in that part of the land, according to the Spirit of God, which is also the spirit of freedom which is in them.

Alma 29:35 And it came to pass that when the Lamanites saw that Moroni was coming against them, they were again frightened, and fled before the army of Moroni.

Alma 29:51 And many were softened, because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God, even in the depth of humility.

Helaman 2:13 But behold a hundredth part of the proceedings of this people, yea, the account of the Lamanites, and of the Nephites, and their wars, and contentions, and dissensions, and their preaching, and their prophecies, and their shipping, and their building of ships, and their building of temples, and of synagogues, and their sanctuaries, and their righteousness, and their wickedness, and their murders, and their robbings, and their plundering, and all manner of abominations and whoredoms, can not be contained in this work;

Helaman 2:45 And it was because of the pride of their hearts, because of their exceeding riches, yea, it was because of their oppression to the poor, withholding their food from the hungry, withholding their clothing from the naked, and smiting their humble brethren upon the cheek, making a mock of that which was sacred, denying the spirit of prophecy and of revelation, murdering, plundering, lying, stealing, committing adultery, rising up in great contentions, and deserting away into the land of Nephi, among the Lamanites;

Helaman 2:49 And it came to pass that they did repent, and inasmuch as they did repent, they did begin to prosper;

Helaman 2:77 And they did remember his words; and therefore they went forth, keeping the commandments of God, to teach the word of God among all the people of Nephi, beginning at the city Bountiful; and from thence forth to the city of Gid; and from the city of Gid to the city of Mulek;

Helaman 2:106 And it came to pass that the Lamanites said unto him, What shall we do, that this cloud of darkness may be removed from overshadowing us?

Helaman 2:107 And Aminadab said unto them, You must repent, and cry unto the voice, even until ye shall have faith in Christ, who was taught unto you by Alma, and Amulek, and Zeezrom; and when ye shall do this, the cloud of darkness shall be removed from overshadowing you.

Helaman 2:153 And also it is that same being who put it into the hearts of the people, to build a tower sufficiently high that they might get to heaven.

Helaman 2:164 And it came to pass that the Lamanites did hunt the band of robbers of Gadianton; and they did preach the word of God among the more wicked part of them, insomuch that this band of robbers was utterly destroyed from among the Lamanites.

Helaman 3:129 But behold, the power of God was with him, and they could not take him to cast him into prison, for he was taken by the Spirit, and conveyed away out of the midst of them.

Helaman 4:23 And behold, Lehi, his brother, was not a whit behind him as to things pertaining to righteousness.

Helaman 5:50 Behold, our iniquities are great. O Lord, canst thou not turn away thine anger from us? And this shall be your language in those days.

Helaman 5:100 And now because of their steadfastness, when they do believe, in that thing which they do believe; for because of their firmness when they are once enlightened, behold the Lord shall bless them and prolong their days, notwithstanding their iniquity;

3 Nephi 2:9 And behold, I swear unto you, If ye will do this, with an oath, ye shall not be destroyed; but if ye will not do this, I swear unto you, with an oath, that on the morrow month, I will command that my armies shall come down against you,

3 Nephi 2:30 And they had taken their horses, and their chariots, and their cattle, and all their flocks, and their herds, and their grain, and all their substance,

3 Nephi 2:58 And it came to pass that Gidgiddoni commanded that his armies should pursue them as far as the borders of the wilderness, and that they should not spare any that should fall into their hands by the way;

3 Nephi 2:74 And the robbers who were on the south, were also cut off in their places of retreat. And all these things were done by command of Gidgiddoni.

3 Nephi 2:75 And there were many thousands who did yield themselves up prisoners unto the Nephites; and the remainder of them were slain; and their leader, Zemnarihah, was taken, and hanged upon a tree, yea, even upon the top thereof, until he was dead.

3 Nephi 2:98 And it hath become expedient that I, according to the will of God, that the prayers of those who have gone hence, who were the holy ones, should be fulfilled according to their faith, should make a record of these things, which have been done;

3 Nephi 2:99 Yea, a small record of that which hath taken place from the time that Lehi left Jerusalem, even down until the present time;

3 Nephi 3:27 Now there was no lawyer, nor judge, nor high priest, that could have power to condemn any one to death, save their condemnation was signed by the governor of the land.

3 Nephi 3:48 Therefore Jacob seeing that their enemies were more numerous than they, he being the king of the band, therefore he commanded his people that they should take their flight into the northernmost part of the land,

3 Nephi 3:49 And there build up unto themselves a kingdom, until they were joined by dissenters, (for he flattered them that there would be many dissenters,) and they become sufficiently strong to contend with the tribes of the people.

3 Nephi 4:58 O ye house of Israel, whom I have spared, how oft will I gather you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, if ye will repent and return unto me with full purpose of heart.

3 Nephi 5:15 And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet;

3 Nephi 5:73 Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him, lest at any time he shall get thee, and thou shalt be cast into prison.

3 Nephi 8:69 And now I go unto the Father, because it is expedient that I should go unto the Father, for your sakes.

3 Nephi 11:29 And he saith, These scriptures which ye had not with you, the Father commanded that I should give unto you, for it was wisdom in him that they should be given unto future generations.

3 Nephi 11:30 And he did expound all things, even from the beginning until the time that he should come in his glory;

3 Nephi 13:10 And in that day will I visit them, even in turning their works upon their own heads.

3 Nephi 13:17 And he said unto them, Behold, I know your thoughts, and ye have desired the thing which John, my beloved, who was with me in my ministry, before that I was lifted up by the Jews, desired of me;

3 Nephi 13:52 Now this change was not equal to that which should take place at the last day; but there was a change wrought upon them, insomuch that Satan could have no power over them, that he could not tempt them, and they were sanctified in the flesh, that they were holy, and that the powers of the earth could not hold them;

4 Nephi 1:7 And all manner of miracles did they work among the children of men; and in nothing did they work miracles save it were in the name of Jesus.

4 Nephi 1:14 And it came to pass that there was no contention among all the people, in all the land, but there were mighty miracles wrought among the disciples of Jesus.

4 Nephi 1:20 There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God;

4 Nephi 1:37 And they did smite upon the people of Jesus; but the people of Jesus did not smite again.

4 Nephi 1:57 And it came to pass that when three hundred and twenty years had passed away, Ammoron, being constrained by the Holy Ghost, did hide up the records which were sacred;

Mormon 1:41 And thus three hundred and forty and four years had passed away.

Mormon 1:47 And it came to pass that in this year the people of Nephi again were hunted and driven.

Mormon 1:57 And my heart did sorrow because of this the great calamity of my people; because of their wickedness and their abominations.

Mormon 1:62 And we did give unto the Lamanites all the land southward.

Mormon 2:17 And it came to pass that in the three hundred and sixty and seventh year, the Nephites, being angry because the Lamanites had sacrificed their women and their children, that they did go against the Lamanites with exceeding great anger, insomuch that they did beat again the Lamanites, and drive them out of their lands;

Mormon 2:21 And it came to pass that the Lamanites did come down against the city Desolation; and there was an exceeding sore battle fought in the land Desolation, in the which they did beat the Nephites.

Mormon 4:1 Behold I, Moroni, do finish the record of my father Mormon. Behold, I have but few things to write, which things I have been commanded of my father.

Mormon 4:7 Behold, four hundred years have passed since the coming of our Lord and Savior.

Mormon 4:11 And now behold, I say no more concerning them, for there are none, save it be the Lamanites and robbers, that do exist upon the face of the land;

Mormon 4:25 Behold what the scripture says; Man shall not smite, neither shall he judge; for judgment is mine, saith the Lord; and vengeance is mine also, and I will repay.

Ether 1:2 And I take mine account from the twenty and four plates which were found by the people of Limhi, which is called the book of Ether.

Ether 1:3 And as I suppose that the first part of this record, which speaks concerning the creation of the world, and also of Adam, and an account from that time even to the great tower, and whatsoever things transpired among the children of men until that time, is had among the Jews,

Ether 1:4 Therefore I do not write those things which transpired from the days of Adam until that time; but they are had upon the plates; and whoso findeth them, the same will have power that he may get the full account.

Ether 1:32 And the fullness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity; for behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God, or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God.

Ether 1:33 And it is not until the fullness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.

Ether 1:40 And the Brother of Jared repented of the evil which he had done, and did call upon the name of the Lord for his brethren who were with him.

Ether 1:85 And he had faith no longer, for he knew, nothing doubting; wherefore, having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be kept from within the veil; therefore he saw Jesus, and he did minister unto him.

Ether 1:92 And the Lord said unto him, Write these things and seal them up, and I will shew them in mine own due time unto the children of men.

Ether 1:93 And it came to pass that the Lord commanded him that he should seal up the two stones which he had received, and shew them not, until the Lord should shew them unto the children of men.

Ether 1:94 And the Lord commanded the Brother of Jared to go down out of the mount from the presence of the Lord, and write the things which he had seen; and they were forbidden to come unto the children of men, until after he should be lifted up upon the cross;

Ether 1:99 And he commanded me that I should seal them up; and he also hath commanded that I should seal up the interpretation thereof; wherefore I have sealed up the interpreters, according to the commandment of the Lord.

Ether 3:43 Now the land of Moron where the king dwelt, was near the land which is called Desolation by the Nephites.

Ether 3:69 And Jared rebelled against his father, and came and dwelt in the land of Heth.

Ether 3:94 And now I, Moroni, do not write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made known unto me that they are had among all people, and they are had among the Lamanites, and they have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of Nephi;

Ether 4:7 For so great had been the spreading of this wicked and secret society, that it had corrupted the hearts of all the people; therefore Jared was murdered upon his throne, and Akish reigned in his stead.

Ether 4:25 And it came to pass that Coriantum did walk in the steps of his father, and did build many mighty cities, and did administer that which was good unto his people, in all his days.

Ether 4:27 And it came to pass that his wife died, being an hundred and two years old.

Ether 4:38 And it came to pass that the Lord did cause the serpents that they should pursue them no more, but that they should hedge up the way, that the people could not pass; that whoso should attempt to pass, might fall by the poisonous serpents.

Ether 5:2 And Ether was a prophet of the Lord; wherefore Ether came forth in the days of Coriantumr, and began to prophesy unto the people, for he could not be restrained because of the Spirit of the Lord which was in him;

Ether 5:6 And now I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would shew unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen;

Ether 5:7 Wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith, for it was by faith that Christ shewed himself unto our fathers, after he had risen from the dead;

Ether 5:12 But in the gift of his Son, hath God prepared a more excellent way, and it is by faith that it hath been fulfilled;

Ether 5:16 Behold, it was the faith of Ammon and his brethren, which wrought so great a miracle among the Lamanites; yea, and even all they who wrought miracles, wrought them by faith, even those who were before Christ, and also them who were after.

Ether 5:17 And it was by faith that the three disciples obtained a promise that they should not taste of death; and they obtained not the promise until after their faith.

Ether 5:38 And because thou hast seen thy weakness, thou shalt be made strong, even unto the sitting down in the place which I have prepared in the mansions of my Father.

Ether 6:7 Wherefore the Lord brought a remnant of the seed of Joseph out of the land of Jerusalem, that he might be merciful unto the seed of Joseph, that they should perish not, even as he was merciful unto the father of Joseph, that he should perish not;

Ether 6:30 And it came to pass that Shared fought against him for the space of three days.

Ether 6:48 And it came to pass that Lib did smite the army of Coriantumr, that they fled again to the wilderness of Akish.

Ether 6:50 And Coriantumr had taken all the people with him, as he fled before Lib, in that quarter of the land whither he fled.

Ether 6:92 But behold, the Spirit of the Lord had ceased striving with them, and Satan had full power over the hearts of the people, for they were given up unto the hardness of their hearts, and the blindness of their minds, that they might be destroyed; wherefore they went again to battle.

Moroni 7:2 And now I, Mormon, speak unto you, my beloved brethren; and it is by the grace of God, the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, and his holy will, because of the gift of his calling unto me, that I am permitted to speak unto you at this time;

Moroni 7:23 And behold, there were divers ways that he did manifest things unto the children of men, which were good; and all things which are good, cometh of Christ, otherwise men were fallen, and there could no good thing come unto them.

Moroni 8:28 Behold, my son, this thing ought not to be; for repentance is unto them that are under condemnation, and under the curse of a broken law.

Moroni 8:34 And after rejecting so great a knowledge, my son, they must perish soon, unto the fulfilling of the prophecies which were spoken by the prophets, as well as the words of our Savior himself.

Moroni 9:27 My son, be faithful in Christ; and may not the things which I have written, grieve thee, to weigh thee down unto death, but may Christ lift thee up, and may his sufferings and death, and the shewing his body unto our fathers, and his mercy and long suffering, and the hope of his glory, and of eternal life, rest in your mind for ever.

Moroni 10:2 And I seal up these records, after I have spoken a few words by way of exhortation unto you.

Moroni 10:30 And again, if ye, by the grace of God, are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father, unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy without spot.

DC 3:3d yea, he stirreth up their hearts to anger against this work; yea, he saith unto them, Deceive and lie in wait to catch, that ye may destroy; behold, this is no harm;

DC 3:6d Thus Satan thinketh to overpower your testimony in this generation, that the work may not come forth in this generation;

DC 3:7b Behold, I do not say that you shall not show it unto the righteous; but as you can not always judge the righteous, or as you can not always tell the wicked from the righteous;

DC 3:9a And now, because the account which is engraven upon the plates of Nephi, is more particular concerning the things which in my wisdom I would bring to the knowledge of the people in this account,

DC 5:1c and I have caused you that you should enter into a covenant with me, that you should not show them except to those persons to whom I command you; and you have no power over them except I grant it unto you.

DC 5:3f And you must wait yet a little while, for you are not yet ordained; and their testimony shall also go forth unto the condemnation of this generation, if they harden their hearts against them;

DC 5:5h And if this be the case, I command you, my servant Joseph, that you shall say unto him, that he shall do no more, nor trouble me anymore concerning this matter.

DC 5:6c And now, because I foresee the lying in wait to destroy thee; yea, I foresee that if my servant Martin Harris humbleth not himself, and receive a witness from my hand, that he will fall into transgression; and there are many that lie in wait to destroy thee from off the face of the earth;

DC 7:1b And I said unto him, Lord, give unto me power over death, that I may live and bring souls unto thee.

DC 7:2c therefore, I will make him as flaming fire, and a ministering angel; he shall minister for those who shall be heirs of salvation who dwell on the earth;

DC 9:Intro SECTION 9 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., to Oliver Cowdery in Harmony, Pennsylvania, during April 1829. It followed and explained Oliver's failure as a translator and encouraged him to continue as Joseph's scribe, which he did.

DC 10:7b and then shall ye know, or by this shall you know, all things whatsoever you desire of me, which is pertaining unto things of righteousness, in faith believing in me that you shall receive.

DC 10:8a Behold, I command you, that you need not suppose that you are called to preach until you are called:

DC 10:9a Keep my commandments; hold your peace; appeal unto my Spirit;

DC 10:10c but now hold your peace; study my word which hath gone forth among the children of men, and also study my word which shall come forth among the children of men, or that which is now translating;

DC 10:11b Build upon my rock, which is my gospel; deny not the spirit of revelation, nor the spirit of prophecy, for woe unto him that denieth these things;

DC 11:5b therefore, give heed with your might, and then you are called. Amen.

DC 18:2k wherefore, I command you again to repent, lest I humble you by my almighty power, and that you confess your sins, lest you suffer these punishments of which I have spoken, of which in the smallest, yea, even in the least degree, you have tasted at the time I withdrew my Spirit.

DC 25:Intro SECTION 25 Revelation given through Joseph Smith at Harmony, Pennsylvania, in July 1830, to Joseph Smith, Jr., Oliver Cowdery, and John Whitmer. It is specifically important because of its affirmation of the principle of "common consent" in the government of the church.

DC 26:3f and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me,

DC 27:2c And if thou art led at any time by the Comforter to speak or teach, or at all times by the way of commandment unto the church, thou mayest do it.

DC 27:3d Behold, I say unto thee that it shall be on the borders by the Lamanites.

DC 27:5a And thou shalt assist to settle all these things, according to the covenants of the church, before thou shalt take thy journey among the Lamanites.

DC 28:11c wherein he became spiritually dead, which is the first death, even that same death, which is the last death, which is spiritual, which shall be pronounced upon the wicked when I shall say, Depart ye cursed.

DC 28:12d for they can not be redeemed from their spiritual fall, because they repent not, for they will love darkness rather than light, and their deeds are evil, and they receive their wages of whom they list to obey.

DC 29:1c wherefore, you are left to inquire for yourself, at my hand, and ponder upon the things which you have received.

DC 29:3a Behold, I say unto you, my servant John, that thou shalt commence from this time forth to proclaim my gospel, as with the voice of a trump.

DC 33:2a But before that great day shall come, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon be turned into blood, and the stars shall refuse their shining, and some shall fall, and great destructions await the wicked; wherefore lift up your voice and spare not, for the Lord God hath spoken.

DC 34:4e and they shall learn the parable of the fig tree; for even now already summer is nigh, and I have sent forth the fullness of my gospel by the hand of my servant Joseph;

DC 34:6c Lift up your hearts and be glad; your redemption draweth nigh.

DC 36:7h But, behold, these which your eyes are upon, shall perish in the floods; and, behold, I will shut them up: a prison have I prepared for them.

DC 36:11b And the Lord said unto Enoch, Look, and he looked and beheld the Son of man lifted upon the cross, after the manner of men; and he heard a loud voice; and the heavens were veiled; and all the creations of God mourned; and the earth groaned; and the rocks were rent;

DC 37:Intro SECTION 37 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., to Joseph and Sidney Rigdon in December 1830. It led to a temporary suspension of their work on the Inspired Version, and called for the removal of the body of the Saints to Ohio. There was already a strong nucleus in the Kirtland area.

DC 37:1a Behold, I say unto you, that it is not expedient in me that ye should translate any more until ye shall go to the Ohio; and this because of the enemy and for your sakes.

DC 37:2a And again a commandment I give unto the church, that it is expedient in me that they should assemble together at the Ohio, against the time that my servant Oliver Cowdery shall return unto them.

DC 38:1c and verily I say, even as many as have believed on my name, for I am Christ, and in mine own name, by virtue of the blood which I have spilt, have I pleaded before the Father for them:

DC 42:3a And from this place ye shall go forth into the regions westward;

DC 42:5b and they shall observe the covenants and church articles to do them, and these shall be their teachings, as they shall be directed by the Spirit; and the Spirit shall be given unto you by the prayer of faith, and if ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach.

DC 42:14b and if thou obtainest more than that which would be for thy support, thou shalt give it unto my storehouse, that all things may be done according to that which I have said.

DC 42:23h And thus shall ye conduct in all things.

DC 43:1a O hearken, ye elders of my church, and give ear to the words which I shall speak unto you: for, behold, verily, verily I say unto you, that ye have received a commandment for a law unto my church, through him whom I have appointed unto you, to receive commandments and revelations from my hand.

DC 43:5b For the day cometh that the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven; the heavens shall shake and the earth shall tremble, and the trump of God shall sound both long and loud, and shall say to the sleeping nations;

DC 43:7f and the wicked shall go away into unquenchable fire;

DC 44:2c and many shall be converted, insomuch that ye shall obtain power to organize yourselves according to the laws of man, that your enemies may not have power over you, that you may be preserved in all things, that you may be enabled to keep my laws, that every band may be broken wherewith the enemy seeketh to destroy my people.

DC 45:2f wherefore hearken ye together, and let me show it unto you, even my wisdom, the wisdom of him who ye say is the God of Enoch and his brethren, who were separated from the earth, and were received unto myself;

DC 45:3c And this temple which ye now see shall be thrown down, that there shall not be left one stone upon another.

DC 45:3d And it shall come to pass that this generation of Jews shall not pass away until every desolation which I have told you concerning them shall come to pass.

DC 45:3e Ye say that ye know that the end of the world cometh; ye say, also, that ye know that the heavens and the earth shall pass away; and in this ye say truly, for so it is; but these things which I have told you shall not pass away until all shall be fulfilled.

DC 45:3f And this I have told you concerning Jerusalem; and when that day shall come, shall a remnant be scattered among all nations, but they shall be gathered again; but they shall remain until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

DC 45:4c but they receive it not, for they perceive not the light, and they turn their hearts from me because of the precepts of men;

DC 45:10d and they shall multiply and wax strong, and their children shall grow up without sin unto salvation, for the Lord shall be in their midst, and his glory shall be upon them, and he will be their King and their lawgiver.

DC 45:14 And it shall come to pass that the righteous shall be gathered out from among all nations, and shall come to Zion singing, with songs of everlasting joy.

DC 46:1c nevertheless, ye are commanded never to cast anyone out from your public meetings, which are held before the world.

DC 47:Intro SECTION 47 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., March 8, 1831, at Kirtland, Ohio, and addressed to John Whitmer. Oliver Cowdery's departure upon the mission to the West had left Joseph without a scribe who could keep an official record of the church's history. John Whitmer, who was now called to this responsibility, wrote only eighty-five pages. These included many of the revelations given prior to 1838.

DC 49:2a And they have done unto the Son of man even as they listed; and he has taken his power on the right hand of his glory, and now reigneth in the heavens, and will reign till he descends on the earth to put all enemies under his feet; which time is nigh at hand:

DC 50:6a Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understandeth one another, and both are edified and rejoice together;

DC 51:1b wherefore let my servant Edward Partridge, and those whom he has chosen, in whom I am well pleased, appoint unto this people their portion, every man equal according to their families, according to their circumstances, and their wants and needs;

DC 51:4b And let him also reserve unto himself, for his own wants, and for the wants of his family, as he shall be employed in doing this business.

DC 52:1a Behold, thus saith the Lord unto the elders whom he hath called and chosen, in these last days, by the voice of his Spirit, saying,

DC 52:9f But, behold, I the Lord, will hasten the city in its time, and will crown the faithful with joy and with rejoicing. Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God, and I will lift them up at the last day. Even so. Amen.

DC 54:2b And thus you shall take your journey into the regions westward, and unto the land of Missouri, unto the borders of the Lamanites.

DC 54:2c And after you have done journeying, behold, I say unto you, Seek ye a living like unto men, until I prepare a place for you.

DC 58:5a Let no man think that he is ruler, but let God rule him that judgeth, according to the counsel of his own will; or, in other words, him that counseleth or sitteth upon the judgment seat.

DC 58:6e And inasmuch as men do good, they shall in nowise lose their reward.

DC 58:14a And let no man return from this land, except he bear record, by the way, of that which he knows and most assuredly believes.

DC 60:2f For I am able to make you holy, and your sins are forgiven you.

DC 61:2a Wherefore it is expedient that my servant Sidney Gilbert, and my servant William W. Phelps, be in haste upon their errand and mission;

DC 61:5b wherefore let him do as the Spirit of the living God commandeth him, whether upon the land or upon the waters, as it remaineth with me to do hereafter; and unto you it is given the course for the Saints, or the way for the Saints of the camp of the Lord, to journey.

DC 61:6a And now concerning the residue, let them journey and declare the word among the congregations of the wicked, inasmuch as it is given, and inasmuch as they do this they shall rid their garments, and they shall be spotless before me;

DC 63:9f Wherefore let my disciples in Kirtland arrange their temporal concerns, which dwell upon this farm.

DC 63:13d they shall rise from the dead and shall not die after, and shall receive an inheritance before the Lord, in the holy city, and he that liveth when the Lord shall come, and has kept the faith, blessed is he; nevertheless it is appointed to him to die at the age of man;

DC 63:13f wherefore, for this cause preached the apostles unto the world the resurrection of the dead:

DC 64:4d and after that day, I, the Lord, will not hold any guilty that shall go, with an open heart, up to the land of Zion; for I, the Lord, require the hearts of the children of men.

DC 64:5b for verily I say, Tomorrow all the proud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, for I am the Lord of hosts; and I will not spare any that remaineth in Babylon. Wherefore, if ye believe me, ye will labor while it is called to day.

DC 65:1a Hearken, and lo, a voice as of one sent down from on high, who is mighty and powerful, whose going forth is unto the ends of the earth; yea, whose voice is unto men, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

DC 67:3b not with the carnal, neither natural mind, but with the spiritual; for no man has seen God at any time in the flesh, except quickened by the Spirit of God;

DC 71:1a Behold, thus saith the Lord unto you, my servants, Joseph Smith, Jr., and Sidney Rigdon, that the time has verily come that it is necessary and expedient in me that you should open your mouths in proclaiming my gospel, the things of the kingdom, expounding the mysteries thereof out of the Scriptures, according to that portion of the spirit and power, which shall be given unto you, even as I will.

DC 72:5b Let them carry up unto the bishop a certificate from three elders of the church, or a certificate from the bishop, otherwise he who shall go up unto the land of Zion shall not be accounted as a wise steward. This is also an ensample. Amen.

DC 73:Intro SECTION 73 Joseph and Sidney continued preaching and counseling with the elders of the Kirtland region until January 10, 1832, when Joseph received the following revelation.

DC 73:1 For verily thus saith the Lord, It is expedient in me that they should continue preaching the gospel, and in exhortation to the churches, in the regions round about, until Conference; and then, behold, it shall be made known unto them, by the voice of the Conference, their several missions.

DC 73:2a Now, verily I say unto you, my servants Joseph Smith, Jr., and Sidney Rigdon, saith the Lord, It is expedient to translate again, and, inasmuch as it is practicable, to preach in the regions round about until Conference, and after that it is expedient to continue the work of translation until it be finished.

DC 76:7d these are they who are thrust down to hell;

DC 76:7q these are they who suffer the vengeance of eternal fire;

DC 77:2d wherefore a commandment I give unto you, to prepare and organize yourselves by a bond or everlasting covenant that cannot be broken.

DC 81:5a This order I have appointed to be an everlasting order unto you and unto your successors, inasmuch as you sin not;

DC 82:1a Verily thus saith the Lord, in addition to the laws of the church concerning women and children, those who belong to the church, who have lost their husbands or fathers:

DC 82:1c and if they are not faithful, they shall not have fellowship in the church; yet they may remain upon their inheritances according to the laws of the land.

DC 83:2a Verily, this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the Saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation;

DC 83:4c Therefore, he took Moses out of their midst and the holy priesthood also; and the lesser priesthood continued, which priesthood holdeth the key of the ministering of angels and the preparatory gospel, which gospel is the gospel of repentance and of baptism, and the remission of sins, and the law of carnal commandments,

DC 83:8a And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received, which vanity and unbelief hath brought the whole church under condemnation.

DC 83:16e Woe, I say again, unto that house, or that village, or city, that rejecteth you, or your words, or your testimony of me; for I, the Almighty, have laid my hands upon the nations to scourge them for their wickedness;

DC 83:16f and plagues shall go forth, and they shall not be taken from the earth until I have completed my work, which shall be cut short in righteousness;

DC 84:2b The angels are crying unto the Lord day and night, who are ready and waiting to be sent forth to reap down the fields; but the Lord saith unto them,

DC 84:3a Therefore, thus saith the Lord unto you, with whom the priesthood hath continued through the lineage of your fathers, for ye are lawful heirs, according to the flesh, and have been hid from the world with Christ in God:

DC 85:14c and thus they all received the light of the countenance of their lord; every man in his hour, and in his time, and in his season; beginning at the first, and so on unto the last, and from the last unto the first, and from the first unto the last;

DC 85:23b that their souls may escape the wrath of God, the desolation of abomination, which await the wicked, both in this world, and in the world to come.

DC 85:23c Verily, I say unto you, Let those who are not the first elders, continue in the vineyard, until the mouth of the Lord shall call them, for their time is not yet come; their garments are not clean from the blood of this generation.

DC 85:29a And again, another trump shall sound, which is the third trump: and then cometh the spirits of men who are to be judged, and are found under condemnation:

DC 85:29b and these are the rest of the dead, and they live not again until the thousand years are ended, neither again, until the end of the earth.

DC 85:35a And then shall the second angel sound his trump, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the thoughts and intents of their hearts, and the mighty works of God in the second thousandth year:

DC 85:38b cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated;

DC 87:6a Now, verily I say unto thee, Let there be a place provided as soon as it is possible, for the family of thy counselor and scribe, even Frederick G. Williams;

DC 87:6b and let mine aged servant Joseph Smith, Sr., continue with his family upon the place where he now lives, and let it not be sold until the mouth of the Lord shall name.

DC 87:8c and I am not well pleased with my servant William E. McLellin, neither with my servant Sidney Gilbert; and the bishop also; and others have many things to repent of;

DC 90:1g And I, John, bear record that I beheld his glory, as the glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth; even the Spirit of truth which came and dwelt in the flesh, and dwelt among us.

DC 90:4d And John bore record of me, saying, He received a fullness of truth; yea, even of all truth, and no man receiveth a fullness unless he keepeth his commandments.

DC 91:4b And on the first and second lots, on the north, shall my servants Reynolds Cahoon and Jared Carter receive their inheritance, that they may do the work which I have appointed unto them, to be a committee to build mine houses, according to the commandments which I, the Lord God, have given unto you.

DC 93:2c therefore ye shall ordain him unto this blessing; and he shall seek diligently to take away incumbrances, that are upon the house named among you, that he may dwell therein. Even so. Amen.

DC 94:2a Behold, I say unto you, concerning the school in Zion, I, the Lord, am well pleased that there should be a school in Zion;

DC 94:5d for, behold, and lo, vengeance cometh speedily upon the ungodly, as the whirlwind, and who shall escape it; the Lord's scourge shall pass over by night and by day; and the report thereof shall vex all people;

DC 95:6d then, I, the Lord, would give unto them a commandment, and justify them in going out to battle against that nation, tongue, or people,

DC 95:7a And again, verily I say unto you, If, after thine enemy has come upon thee the first time, he repent and come unto thee praying thy forgiveness thou shalt forgive him, and shall hold it no more as a testimony against thine enemy,

DC 95:7c and if he transgress against thee and repent not the first time, nevertheless thou shalt forgive him; and if he trespass against thee the second time, and repent not, nevertheless thou shalt forgive him; and if he trespass against thee the third time and repent not, thou shalt also forgive him;

DC 96:2a And, behold, and lo, I come quickly to judgment, to convince all of their ungodly deeds which they have committed against me, as it is written of me in the volume of the book.

DC 96:2b And now, verily I say unto thee, that it is not expedient that thou shouldst go until thy children are provided for, and kindly sent up unto the bishop in Zion,

DC 98:4g Zion shall not be moved out of her place, notwithstanding her children are scattered, they that remain and are pure in heart shall return and come to their inheritances; they and their children, with songs of everlasting joy; to build up the waste places of Zion. And all these things, that the prophets might be fulfilled.

DC 98:5e And in that day Satan shall not have power to tempt any man. And there shall be no sorrow because there is no death.

DC 100:2a But verily I say unto you, that I have decreed a decree which my people shall realize, inasmuch as they hearken from this very hour, unto the counsel which I, the Lord, their God, shall give unto them.

DC 100:6b It is my will that my servant Sidney Rigdon shall lift up his voice in the congregations, in the eastern countries, in preparing the churches to keep the commandments which I have given unto them, concerning the restoration and redemption of Zion.

DC 100:6e and if ye cannot obtain three hundred, seek diligently that peradventure ye may obtain one hundred.

DC 101:Intro SECTION 101 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., April 23, 1834, at Kirtland, Ohio. A "United Order of Enoch" had been established to manage the temporal affairs of the church in Kirtland and in Zion. The Order was now in financial difficulties, largely because of losses sustained through mob action. In accordance with this revelation, the Order was now dissolved, its properties being divided among the members of the Order in such fashion as to constitute their individual stewardships. For an explanation of the unusual names used in this revelation, consult the introduction to Doctrine and Covenants 77. The probable significance of these names is as follows: The "Order" "Pelagoram" "Tahhanes" "Mahemson" "Zombre" "Gazelam" "Shederlaomach" "Olihah" The United Order of Enoch Sidney Rigdon Tannery Martin Harris John Johnson Joseph Smith Frederick G. Williams Oliver Cowdery "Lane-shine-house" "Ahashdah" "Ozondah" "Shinehah" "Shinelah" "Shinelane" "Cainhannoch" "Shule" Printing Office Newel K. Whitney Store Kirtland Print Printing New York Ashery

DC 101:1e and all this that the innocent among you, may not be condemned with the unjust; and that the guilty among you may not escape, because I, the Lord, have promised unto you a crown of glory at my right hand.

DC 101:12f And this shall be the voice and common consent of the order: that any man among you, say unto the treasurer, I have need of this to help me in my stewardship;

DC 101:13b Behold, it is my will that you should pay all your debts; and it is my will that you should humble yourselves before me, and obtain this blessing by your diligence and humility, and the prayer of faith;

DC 101:13e And inasmuch as ye are humble and faithful and call on my name, behold, I will give you the victory.

DC 102:2c and Zion cannot be built up unless it is by the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom, otherwise I cannot receive her unto myself;

DC 102:3c Therefore, in consequence of the transgression of my people, it is expedient in me that mine elders should wait for a little season for the redemption of Zion, that they themselves may be prepared, and that my people may be taught more perfectly, and have experience, and know more perfectly, concerning their duty, and the things which I require at their hands;

DC 102:6b and those that can not stay, who have families in the east, let them tarry for a little season, inasmuch as my servant Joseph shall appoint unto them, for I will counsel him concerning this matter; and all things whatsoever he shall appoint unto them shall be fulfilled.

DC 102:7c and, behold, I will give unto you favor and grace in their eyes, that you may rest in peace and safety, while you are saying unto the people, Execute judgment and justice for us according to law, and redress us of our wrongs.

DC 102:8a Now, behold, I say unto you, my friends, in this way you may find favor in the eyes of the people, until the army of Israel becomes very great;

DC 104:33a Thus shall he be a judge, even a common judge among the inhabitants of Zion, or in a stake of Zion, or in any branch of the church where he shall be set apart unto this ministry,

DC 104:43a And it is according to the vision, showing the order of the Seventy, that they should have Seven Presidents to preside over them, chosen out of the number of the Seventy, and seventh president of these presidents is to preside over the six;

DC 105:13a Verily I say unto you, Behold how great is your calling. Cleanse your hearts and your garments, lest the blood of this generation be required at your hands.

DC 113:5b "And because thou hast seen thy weakness, thou shalt be made strong, even unto the sitting down in the place which I have prepared in the mansions of my Father.

DC 117:8c and let my servants Joseph Lakeman, Glaud Rodger, John T. Davies, and John S. Patterson be also appointed as witnesses of the Seventy before me.

DC 117:9a Until such time as the quorum of the Twelve shall be filled, the decision of that quorum, a unanimous decision, shall be accounted final, as if such quorum were filled, according to my law as given in the Book of Doctrine and Covenants.

DC 117:10a It is expedient that the Bishop of my church shall choose two counselors, and that they be ordained to their office as my law directs, that there may be henceforth no caviling among my people.

DC 117:10b The bishop of my church may also choose and appoint Bishop's agents, until it shall be wisdom in me to ordain other bishops, in the districts and large branches of my church.

DC 117:11a It is not expedient in me that there shall be any stakes appointed until I command my people. When it shall be necessary I will command that they be established.

DC 118:1a In asking of me, ye did well. I will hasten my work in its time.

DC 118:1c Nor is it expedient now to further fill up the quorums, except it be the elders, priests, teachers, and deacons: which ye may do, as ye deem wise, by the direction of conference.

DC 119:6f To facilitate unity in the song service of the church those to whom the work of providing a book of song has been intrusted may hasten their work in its time.

DC 119:9c Bear the burdens of body of which the Spirit of healing from the Lord in faith, or the use of that which wisdom directs does not relieve or remove, and in cheerfulness do whatever may be permitted you to perform that the blessing of peace may be upon all. Amen. KIRTLAND, OHIO, April 11, 1887

DC 120:Intro SECTION 120 The members of the Quorum of Twelve who were present at the General Conference of 1887 remained in Kirtland and on April 21, 1887, issued an "Epistle" which discussed the duties of branch and district presidents and other matters. The Quorum revised this "Epistle" in 1888 and then asked the General Conference to endorse it. Action was postponed until 1889 and then until 1890. Under these circumstances the Quorum of Twelve asked the President of the Church to seek divine guidance, and in response to their prayers the following revelation was received through President Joseph Smith. It is dated April 8, 1890, at Lamoni, Iowa, and is addressed to "The First Presidency and Traveling High Council" (the Council of Twelve). Unto my servants, the First Presidency and the traveling High Council of my church; thus saith the Spirit:

DC 120:7c Where cases of difficulty are of long standing, the council may require local authorities to adjust them; and in case of failure to do so, may regulate them as required by their office and duty; and this that the work and church may not be put to shame and the preaching of the word be hindered.

DC 121:6b It is given here as having been acquiesced in by all, in answer to prayer and decisive upon the matters referred to.

DC 122:1a My servants have been harsh one with another; and some have not been sufficiently willing to hear those whose duty it is to teach the revelations which my church has already received.

DC 122:8b and when those officers are ordained and set in their order, in the church, they should be left to administer in the things unto which they were ordained, having charge of the affairs over which they are called and set apart to preside;

DC 123:29b All present were convinced that the appointment had been wisely made and that the results were and would be such as would fully attest the divinity of the call.

DC 124:2a Separate and set apart my servant Alexander Hale Smith to be a counselor to my servant, the President of the church, his brother; and to be patriarch to the church, and an evangelical minister to the whole church.

DC 125:7a My servant was directed to present to the church rules of representation, and he so stated to the body at different times that he was so led; but the conferences of my people saw proper to change these articles and rules of representation, and propositions are pending that they be still further changed.

DC 126:11 In case of transgression in his office the Bishop should be called in question before the council which is provided for in the law, to which court all the general officers of the church are to be subject.

DC 128:7c The Saints can not occupy in any place on the land of Zion which is not under the domination of civil law, and as citizens of the state, holding their liberties under the law, there must be a proper recognition and observance of these laws.

DC 129:8f The church has been directed to accede to the rendition of the Bishopric with respect to the temporal law;

DC 130:6b the church should authorize the Presiding Bishop to make choice of some one who may be qualified to take active participation in the work of the Bishopric and become in due time a part thereof;

DC 137:4c And let those whose duty it is to select from the members of the priesthood those for setting apart as evangelists be admonished that the work of this class of ministers requires vigor, deep faith, and unreserved consecration, and men should be selected accordingly.

DC 138:1c I suggested to the brethren named the wisdom of at once entering upon their tasks in the Presidency.

DC 141:4b There are those with the body of my priesthood who are called and who will be chosen to succeed them, if faithful; therefore, all are admonished to qualify themselves in spirit by ministry and by witnessing for Christ.
