Title Page 1:Intro The Book of Mormon An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon Upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi

Title Page 1:7 and also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations.

1 Nephi 1:3 For it came to pass, in the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah (my father Lehi having dwelt at Jerusalem in all his days); and in that same year there came many prophets, prophesying unto the people that they must repent, or the great city Jerusalem must be destroyed.

1 Nephi 1:16 And he also hath written many things which he prophesied and spake unto his children, of which I shall not make a full account; but I shall make an account of my proceedings in my days.

1 Nephi 1:26 And it came to pass that the Lord commanded my father, even in a dream, that he should take his family and depart into the wilderness.

1 Nephi 1:44 And it came to pass that my father did speak unto them in the valley of Lemuel, with power, being filled with the Spirit, until their frames did shake before him.

1 Nephi 1:47 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, being exceeding young, nevertheless being large in stature, and also having great desires to know of the mysteries of God,

1 Nephi 1:61 For behold, Laban hath the record of the Jews, and also a genealogy of thy forefathers, and they are engraven upon plates of brass.

1 Nephi 1:71 And behold it came to pass that Laban was angry, and thrust him out from his presence; and he would not that he should have the records.

1 Nephi 1:75 But, behold, I said unto them, that as the Lord liveth, and as we live, we will not go down unto our father in the wilderness, until we have accomplished the thing which the Lord hath commanded us.

1 Nephi 1:79 For behold, they have rejected the words of the prophets.

1 Nephi 1:80 Wherefore if my father should dwell in the land after he hath been commanded to flee out of the land, behold he would also perish.

1 Nephi 1:91 And it came to pass that Laman was angry with me, and also with my father, and also was Lemuel; for he hearkened unto the words of Laman.

1 Nephi 1:100 Therefore let us go up; let us be strong like unto Moses; for he truly spake unto the waters of the Red Sea, and they divided hither and thither, and our fathers came through out of captivity on dry ground, and the armies of Pharaoh did follow and were drowned in the waters of the Red Sea.

1 Nephi 1:128 And I also bade him that he should follow me.

1 Nephi 1:132 And they fled from before my presence; for they supposed it was Laban, and that he had slain me, and had sought to take away their lives also.

1 Nephi 1:164 And it came to pass that my father Lehi also found upon the plates of brass a genealogy of his fathers;

1 Nephi 1:167 And thus my father Lehi did discover the genealogy of his fathers.

1 Nephi 1:169 And now when my father saw all these things he was filled with the Spirit, and began to prophesy concerning his seed; that these plates of brass should go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, who were of his seed.

1 Nephi 1:173 And we had obtained the record which the Lord had commanded us, and searched them and found that they were desirable; yea, even of great worth unto us, insomuch that we could preserve the commandments of the Lord unto our children.

1 Nephi 1:174 Wherefore it was wisdom in the Lord that we should carry them with us as we journeyed in the wilderness towards the land of promise.

1 Nephi 2:4 For the fullness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved.

1 Nephi 2:5 Wherefore the things which are pleasing unto the world, I do not write, but the things which are pleasing unto God and unto those who are not of the world.

1 Nephi 2:17 Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten what great things the Lord hath done for us in delivering us out of the hands of Laban, and also that we should obtain the record?

1 Nephi 2:52 And as I partook of the fruit thereof, it filled my soul with exceeding great joy;

1 Nephi 2:59 And it came to pass that I was desirous that Laman and Lemuel should come and partake of the fruit also;

1 Nephi 2:94 For the plates upon which I make a full account of my people, I have given the name of Nephi;

1 Nephi 2:97 Upon the other plates should be engraven an account of the reign of the kings, and the wars and contentions of my people;

1 Nephi 2:98 Wherefore, these plates are for the more part of the ministry; and the other plates are for the more part of the reign of the kings, and the wars and contentions of my people.

1 Nephi 2:100 But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning;

1 Nephi 2:102 And thus it is. Amen.

1 Nephi 3:5 And he also spake concerning the prophets, how great a number had testified of these things, concerning this Messiah, of whom he had spoken, or this Redeemer of the world.

1 Nephi 3:16 Yea, even my father spake much concerning the Gentiles, and also concerning the house of Israel, that they should be compared like unto an olive tree, whose branches should be broken off, and should be scattered upon all the face of the earth.

1 Nephi 3:31 And as well in times of old as in times to come;

1 Nephi 3:33 Therefore remember, O man, for all thy doings thou shalt be brought into judgment.

1 Nephi 3:34 Wherefore, if ye have sought to do wickedly in the days of your probation, then ye are found unclean before the judgment seat of God;

1 Nephi 3:43 And when I had spoken these words, the Spirit cried with a loud voice, saying, Hosanna to the Lord, the most high God; for he is God over all the earth, yea, even above all.

1 Nephi 3:63 Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw?

1 Nephi 3:115 And he said unto me, Thou remembereth the twelve apostles of the Lamb? Behold they are they who shall judge the twelve tribes of Israel:

1 Nephi 3:163 And it is a record like unto the engravings which are upon the plates of brass, save there are not so many; nevertheless, they contain the covenants of the Lord which he hath made unto the house of Israel;

1 Nephi 3:165 And the angel of the Lord said unto me, Thou hast beheld that the book proceeded forth from the mouth of a Jew; and when it proceeded forth from the mouth of a Jew it contained the plainness of the gospel of the Lord, of whom the twelve apostles bear record; and they bear record according to the truth which is in the Lamb of God:

1 Nephi 3:170 And all this have they done that they might pervert the right ways of the Lord; that they might blind the eyes and harden the hearts of the children of men:

1 Nephi 3:179 Neither will the Lord God suffer that the Gentiles shall for ever remain in that awful state of blindness, which thou beholdest they are in because of the plain and most precious parts of the gospel of the Lamb which have been kept back by that abominable church, whose formation thou hast seen.

1 Nephi 3:181 And it came to pass that the angel of the Lord spake unto me, saying, Behold, saith the Lamb of God, after I have visited the remnant of the house of Israel, and this remnant of whom I speak is the seed of thy father;

1 Nephi 3:195 And the words of the Lamb shall be made known in the records of thy seed, as well as in the records of the twelve apostles of the Lamb;

1 Nephi 3:221 The one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil;

1 Nephi 3:242 And he shall also write concerning the end of the world;

1 Nephi 3:251 And I, Nephi, heard and bear record, that the name of the apostle of the Lamb was John, according to the word of the angel.

1 Nephi 4:18 And then shall they know and come to the knowledge of their forefathers, and also to the knowledge of the gospel of their Redeemer, which was ministered unto their fathers by him;

1 Nephi 4:27 And he meaneth that it shall come by way of the Gentiles, that the Lord may shew his power unto the Gentiles, for the very cause that he shall be rejected of the Jews, or of the house of Israel:

1 Nephi 4:40 Neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary, overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

1 Nephi 4:52 For the day should come that they must be judged of their works, yea, even the works which were done by the temporal body in their days of probation;

1 Nephi 4:53 Wherefore, if they should die in their wickedness, they must be cast off also, as to the things which are spiritual, which are pertaining to righteousness;

1 Nephi 4:58 But behold, I say unto you, the kingdom of God is not filthy, and there can not any unclean thing enter into the kingdom of God;

1 Nephi 4:60 And there is a place prepared, yea, even that awful hell of which I have spoken, and the devil is the foundation of it;

1 Nephi 4:61 Wherefore, the final state of the souls of men is to dwell in the kingdom of God, or to be cast out because of that justice of which I have spoken;

1 Nephi 5:1 And now it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had made an end of speaking to my brethren, behold, they said unto me, Thou hast declared unto us hard things, more than we are able to bear.

1 Nephi 5:27 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did speak much unto my brethren, because they had hardened their hearts again, even unto complaining against the Lord their God.

1 Nephi 5:59 And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God, he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them;

1 Nephi 5:78 And I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments;

1 Nephi 5:82 Yea, that I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem.

1 Nephi 5:91 And now when they saw that I began to be sorrowful, they were glad in their hearts, insomuch that they did rejoice over me, saying,

1 Nephi 5:98 And we know that the people who were in the land of Jerusalem, were a righteous people;

1 Nephi 5:105 Now ye know that the children of Israel were in bondage; and ye know that they were laden with tasks, which were grievous to be borne;

1 Nephi 5:132 Behold, he loved our fathers; and he covenanted with them, yea, even Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: and he remembered the covenants which he had made;

1 Nephi 5:140 For I know that the day must surely come that they must be destroyed, save a few only who shall be led away into captivity;

1 Nephi 5:142 And the Jews also sought to take away his life; yea, and ye also have sought to take away his life;

1 Nephi 5:146 And he hath spoken unto you in a still, small voice, but ye were past feeling, that ye could not feel his words;

1 Nephi 5:166 And they fell down before me, and were about to worship me, but I would not suffer them, saying, I am thy brother, yea, even thy younger brother;

1 Nephi 5:170 Now I, Nephi, did not work the timbers after the manner which was learned by men, neither did I build the ship after the manner of men;

1 Nephi 5:171 But I did build it after the manner which the Lord had shewn unto me; wherefore, it was not after the manner of men.

1 Nephi 5:173 And it came to pass that after I had finished the ship according to the word of the Lord, my brethren beheld that it was good and that the workmanship thereof was exceeding fine;

1 Nephi 5:177 We did go down into the ship with all our loading and our seeds, and whatsoever thing we had brought with us, every one according to his age;

1 Nephi 5:185 And I, Nephi, began to fear exceedingly, lest the Lord should be angry with us, and smite us, because of our iniquity, that we should be swallowed up in the depths of the sea;

1 Nephi 5:190 And it came to pass that after they had bound me, insomuch that I could not move, the compass, which had been prepared of the Lord, did cease to work;

1 Nephi 5:197 And after we had been driven back upon the waters for the space of four days, my brethren began to see that the judgments of God were upon them, and that they must perish, save that they should repent of their iniquities;

1 Nephi 5:207 And there was nothing, save it were the power of God, which threatened them with destruction, could soften their hearts;

1 Nephi 5:214 And it came to pass that we did begin to till the earth, and we began to plant seeds, yea, we did put all our seeds into the earth, which we had brought from the land of Jerusalem.

1 Nephi 5:217 And we did find all manner of ore, both of gold, and of silver, and of copper.

1 Nephi 5:220 And I knew not at the time when I made them, that I should be commanded of the Lord to make these plates;

1 Nephi 5:221 Wherefore, the record of my father, and the genealogy of his forefathers, and the more part of all our proceedings in the wilderness, are engraven upon those plates of which I have spoken;

1 Nephi 5:224 And that the things which were written, should be kept for the instruction of my people, who should possess the land, and also for other wise purposes, which purposes are known unto the Lord;

1 Nephi 5:236 And behold, he cometh according to the words of the angel, in six hundred years from the time my father left Jerusalem.

1 Nephi 5:258 And I, Nephi, have written these things unto my people, that perhaps I might persuade them that they would remember the Lord their Redeemer;

1 Nephi 5:263 And also he did shew unto many concerning us;

1 Nephi 6:5 For I did liken all scriptures unto us that it might be for our profit and learning.

1 Nephi 7:4 For by the Spirit are all things made known unto the prophets, which shall come upon the children of men according to the flesh.

1 Nephi 7:11 And since they have been led away, these things have been prophesied concerning them, and also concerning all those who shall hereafter be scattered and be confounded, because of the Holy One of Israel; for against him will they harden their hearts;

1 Nephi 7:17 And after our seed is scattered, the Lord God will proceed to do a marvelous work among the Gentiles, which shall be of great worth unto our seed;

1 Nephi 7:21 And I would, my brethren, that ye should know that all the kindreds of the earth can not be blessed unless he shall make bare his arm in the eyes of the nations.

1 Nephi 7:22 Wherefore, the Lord God will proceed to make bare his arm in the eyes of all the nations, in bringing about his covenants and his gospel, unto those who are of the house of Israel.

1 Nephi 7:35 For he will not suffer that the wicked shall destroy the righteous.

1 Nephi 7:36 Wherefore, he will preserve the righteous by his power, even if it be so that the fullness of his wrath must come, and the righteous be preserved, even unto the destruction of their enemies by fire.

1 Nephi 7:46 And now I, Nephi, declare unto you, that this prophet of whom Moses spake, was the Holy One of Israel;

1 Nephi 7:60 And because of the righteousness of his people, Satan has no power;

1 Nephi 7:65 And now I, Nephi, make an end; for I durst not speak further as yet, concerning these things.

1 Nephi 7:67 And they testify that a man must be obedient to the commandments of God.

1 Nephi 7:68 Wherefore, ye need not suppose that I and my father are the only ones that have testified, and also taught them.

2 Nephi 1:9 And also all those who should be led out of other countries, by the hand of the Lord.

2 Nephi 1:10 Wherefore, I, Lehi, prophesy according to the workings of the Spirit which is in me, that there shall none come into this land, save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.

2 Nephi 1:12 And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them;

2 Nephi 1:17 For, behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance.

2 Nephi 1:25 Yea, as one generation passeth to another, there shall be bloodsheds and great visitations among them;

2 Nephi 1:55 And now, Zoram, I speak unto you: Behold, thou art the servant of Laban; nevertheless, thou hast been brought out of the land of Jerusalem, and I know that thou art a true friend unto my son Nephi, for ever.

2 Nephi 1:57 And nothing, save it shall be iniquity among them, shall harm or disturb their prosperity upon the face of this land for ever.

2 Nephi 1:61 Nevertheless, Jacob, my first born in the wilderness, thou knowest the greatness of God; and he shall consecrate thine afflictions for thy gain.

2 Nephi 1:62 Wherefore thy soul shall be blessed, and thou shalt dwell safely with thy brother Nephi; and thy days shall be spent in the service of thy God.

2 Nephi 1:63 Wherefore, I know that thou art redeemed, because of the righteousness of thy Redeemer: for thou hast beheld, that in the fullness of time, he cometh to bring salvation unto men.

2 Nephi 1:70 Yea, by the temporal law, they were cut off; and also by the spiritual law they perish from that which is good, and become miserable for ever.

2 Nephi 1:72 Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.

2 Nephi 1:75 That he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.

2 Nephi 1:78 And because of the intercession for all, all men come unto God;

2 Nephi 1:79 Wherefore, they stand in the presence of him, to be judged of him, according to the truth and holiness which is in him.

2 Nephi 1:82 If not so, my first born in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass; neither wickedness; neither holiness nor misery; neither good nor bad.

2 Nephi 1:83 Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one;

2 Nephi 1:84 Wherefore, if it should be one body, it must needs remain as dead, having no life, neither death nor corruption, nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

2 Nephi 1:85 Wherefore, it must needs have been created for a thing of nought;

2 Nephi 1:86 Wherefore, there would have been no purpose in the end of its creation.

2 Nephi 1:92 And if these things are not, there is no God.

2 Nephi 1:98 Even the forbidden fruit in opposition to the tree of life; the one being sweet and the other bitter;

2 Nephi 1:99 Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man, that he should act for himself.

2 Nephi 1:101 And I, Lehi, according to the things which I have read, must needs suppose that an angel of God, according to that which is written, had fallen from heaven;

2 Nephi 1:103 And because he had fallen from heaven, and had become miserable for ever, he sought also the misery of all mankind.

2 Nephi 1:107 And the days of the children of men were prolonged, according to the will of God, that they might repent while in the flesh;

2 Nephi 1:112 And all things which were created, must have remained in the same state which they were, after they were created; and they must have remained for ever, and had no end.

2 Nephi 1:118 To act for themselves, and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the Lord, at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.

2 Nephi 2:5 For behold, thou art the fruit of my loins; and I am a descendant of Joseph, who was carried captive into Egypt.

2 Nephi 2:18 And not to the bringing forth my word only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing them of my word, which shall have already gone forth among them.

2 Nephi 2:44 And now, behold, my son Joseph, after this manner did my father of old prophesy.

2 Nephi 2:48 And now, blessed art thou, Joseph.

2 Nephi 3:5 And they are written upon the plates of brass.

2 Nephi 3:11 For behold, I know that if ye are brought up in the way ye should go, ye will not depart from it.

2 Nephi 3:12 Wherefore, if ye are cursed, behold, I leave my blessing upon you, that the cursing may be taken from you, and be answered upon the heads of your parents.

2 Nephi 3:15 And he spake unto them, saying: Behold, my sons and my daughters, who are the sons and the daughters of my second son;

2 Nephi 4:2 But behold, their anger did increase against me; insomuch that they did seek to take away my life.

2 Nephi 4:7 And it came to pass that the Lord did warn me, that I, Nephi, should depart from them, and flee into the wilderness, and all those who would go with me.

2 Nephi 4:8 Wherefore, it came to pass that I, Nephi, did take my family, and also Zoram and his family, and Sam, mine elder brother, and his family, and Jacob, and Joseph, my younger brethren, and also my sisters, and all those who would go with me.

2 Nephi 4:11 And after we had journeyed for the space of many days, we did pitch our tents.

2 Nephi 4:23 For they were not to be found upon the land;

2 Nephi 4:29 And behold, the words of the Lord had been fulfilled unto my brethren, which he spake concerning them, that I should be their ruler and their teacher;

2 Nephi 4:30 Wherefore, I had been their ruler and their teacher, according to the commandment of the Lord, until the time they sought to take away my life.

2 Nephi 4:34 For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint;

2 Nephi 4:46 And it came to pass that the Lord God said unto me, Make other plates; and thou shalt engraven many things upon them which are good in my sight, for the profit of thy people.

2 Nephi 5:9 And now, behold, I would speak unto you concerning things which are, and which are to come;

2 Nephi 5:13 And now the words which I shall read, are they which Isaiah spake concerning all the house of Israel;

2 Nephi 5:27 And the day cometh that they shall be smitten and afflicted.

2 Nephi 5:32 For the Lord God will fulfill his covenants which he has made unto his children: and for this cause the prophet has written these things.

2 Nephi 5:36 And behold, according to the words of the prophet, the Messiah will set himself again the second time, to recover them;

2 Nephi 5:50 Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away;

2 Nephi 6:5 For I know that ye have searched much, many of you, to know of things to come;

2 Nephi 6:14 And because man became fallen, they were cut off from the presence of the Lord;

2 Nephi 6:16 Save it should be an infinite atonement, this corruption could not put on incorruption.

2 Nephi 6:27 And this death of which I have spoken, which is the spiritual death, shall deliver up its dead; which spiritual death is hell;

2 Nephi 6:33 Save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect;

2 Nephi 6:38 And assuredly, as the Lord liveth, for the Lord God hath spoken it, and it is his eternal word, which can not pass away, that they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they who are filthy shall be filthy still;

2 Nephi 6:50 For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, hath spoken it;

2 Nephi 6:59 When they are learned, they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves;

2 Nephi 6:62 But wo unto the rich, who are rich as to the things of the world.

2 Nephi 6:87 I pray the God of my salvation that he view me with his all- searching eye;

2 Nephi 6:99 Come, my brethren, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; and he that hath no money, come buy and eat; yea, come buy wine and milk without money and without price.

2 Nephi 7:2 For behold, the promises which we have obtained, are promises unto us according to the flesh;

2 Nephi 7:4 And our children shall be restored, that they may come to that which will give them the true knowledge of their Redeemer.

2 Nephi 7:9 But because of priestcrafts and iniquities, they at Jerusalem will stiffen their necks against him, that he be crucified.

2 Nephi 7:15 Yea, the kings of the Gentiles shall be nursing fathers unto them, and their queens shall become nursing mothers;

2 Nephi 7:21 For I the Lord, the King of heaven, will be their king; and I will be a light upon them forever, that hear my words.

2 Nephi 7:22 Wherefore, for this cause, that my covenants may be fulfilled, which I have made unto the children of men, that I will do unto them while they are in the flesh, I must needs destroy the secret works of darkness, and of murders, and of abominations;

2 Nephi 7:26 For I will fulfill my promises which I have made unto the children of men, that I will do unto them while they are in the flesh.

2 Nephi 7:28 Nevertheless, I will soften the hearts of the Gentiles, that they shall be like unto a father to them;

2 Nephi 7:29 Wherefore, the Gentiles shall be blessed and numbered among the house of Israel.

2 Nephi 7:31 For it is a choice land, saith God unto me, above all other lands;

2 Nephi 7:36 But great are the promises of the Lord unto those who are upon the isles of the sea;

2 Nephi 7:38 For behold, the Lord God has led away from time to time from the house of Israel, according to his will and pleasure.

2 Nephi 7:40 Therefore cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves; to choose the way of everlasting death, or the way of eternal life.

2 Nephi 7:42 And remember after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.

2 Nephi 8:3 For I will liken his words unto my people; and I will send them forth unto all my children: for he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I have seen him.

2 Nephi 8:4 And my brother Jacob also, has seen him as I have seen him; wherefore, I will send their words forth unto my children, to prove unto them that my words are true.

2 Nephi 8:73 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

2 Nephi 9:92 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and to her idols?

2 Nephi 11:3 For I, Nephi, have not taught them many things concerning the manner of the Jews; for their works were works of darkness, and their doings were doings of abomination.

2 Nephi 11:4 Wherefore, I write unto my people, unto all those that shall receive hereafter these things which I write, that they may know the judgments of God, that they come upon all nations, according to the word which he hath spoken.

2 Nephi 11:5 Wherefore hearken, O my people, which are of the house of Israel, and give ear unto my words: for because the words of Isaiah are not plain unto you, nevertheless, they are plain unto all those that are filled with the spirit of prophecy.

2 Nephi 11:8 Yea, and my soul delighteth in the words of Isaiah, for I came out from Jerusalem, and mine eyes hath beheld the things of the Jews, and I know that the Jews do understand the things of the prophets, and there is none other people that understand the things which were spoken unto the Jews, like unto them, save it be that they are taught after the manner of the things of the Jews.

2 Nephi 11:12 Nevertheless, in the days that the prophecies of Isaiah shall be fulfilled, men shall know of a surety, at the times when they shall come to pass;

2 Nephi 11:13 Wherefore, they are of worth unto the children of men, and he that supposeth that they are not, unto them will I speak particularly, and confine the words unto mine own people:

2 Nephi 11:16 And never hath any of them been destroyed, save it were foretold them by the prophets of the Lord.

2 Nephi 11:19 And now this I speak because of the spirit which is in me.

2 Nephi 11:22 Behold, they will crucify him, and after he is laid in a sepulcher for the space of three days, he shall rise from the dead, with healing in his wings, and all those who shall believe on his name, shall be saved in the kingdom of God;

2 Nephi 11:24 And behold, it shall come to pass, that after the Messiah hath risen from the dead, and hath manifested himself unto his people, unto as many as will believe on his name, behold, Jerusalem shall be destroyed again: for wo unto them that fight against God and the people of his church.

2 Nephi 11:28 And the Lord will set his hand again the second time to restore his people from their lost and fallen state.

2 Nephi 11:29 Wherefore, he will proceed to do a marvelous work, and a wonder among the children of men.

2 Nephi 11:39 Yea, behold, I say unto you, that as these things are true, and as the Lord God liveth, there is none other name given under heaven, save it be this Jesus Christ of which I have spoken, whereby man can be saved.

2 Nephi 11:40 Wherefore, for this cause hath the Lord God promised unto me that these things which I write, shall be kept and preserved, and handed down unto my seed, from generation to generation, that the promise may be fulfilled unto Joseph, that his seed should never perish as long as the earth should stand.

2 Nephi 11:45 And notwithstanding we believe in Christ, we keep the law of Moses, and look forward with steadfastness unto Christ, until the law shall be fulfilled; for, for this end was the law given;

2 Nephi 11:48 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

2 Nephi 11:51 And after the law is fulfilled in Christ, that they need not harden their hearts against him, when the law ought to be done away.

2 Nephi 11:55 And now behold I say unto you, that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel:

2 Nephi 11:63 And they perish because they cast out the prophets, and the saints, and stone them, and slay them;

2 Nephi 11:64 Wherefore the cry of the blood of the saints shall ascend up to God from the ground, against them.

2 Nephi 11:73 But the Son of Righteousness shall appear unto them; and he shall heal them, and they shall have peace with him, until three generations shall have passed away and many of the fourth generation shall have passed away in righteousness.

2 Nephi 11:86 For thus saith the Lord God: They shall write the things which shall be done among them, and they shall be written and sealed up in a book, and those who have dwindled in unbelief shall not have them, for they seek to destroy the things of God;

2 Nephi 11:96 He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life, that he may draw all men unto him.

2 Nephi 11:106 He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold, priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain, and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion.

2 Nephi 11:107 Behold, the Lord hath forbidden this thing; wherefore, the Lord God hath given a commandment, that all men should have charity, which charity is love.

2 Nephi 11:126 And behold the book shall be sealed: and in the book shall be a revelation from God, from the beginning of the world to the ending thereof.

2 Nephi 11:127 Wherefore, because of the things which are sealed up, the things which are sealed, shall not be delivered in the day of the wickedness and abominations of the people.

2 Nephi 11:132 And all things shall be revealed unto the children of men which ever have been among the children of men, and which ever will be, even unto the end of the earth.

2 Nephi 11:134 And there is none other which shall view it, save it be a few, according to the will of God, to bear testimony of his word unto the children of men: for the Lord God hath said, that the words of the faithful should speak as if it were from the dead.

2 Nephi 11:140 Then shall the learned say, I can not read it.

2 Nephi 11:141 Wherefore, it shall come to pass, that the Lord God will deliver again the book and the words thereof, to him that is not learned; and the man that is not learned, shall say, I am not learned.

2 Nephi 11:143 Touch not the things which are sealed, for I will bring them forth in mine own due time: for I will shew unto the children of men, that I am able to do mine own work.

2 Nephi 11:160 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

2 Nephi 12:57 And I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?

2 Nephi 12:59 Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another?

2 Nephi 12:63 And because that I have spoken one word, ye need not suppose that I can not speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be, until the end of man; neither from that time hence forth and for ever.

2 Nephi 12:81 And then shall the remnant of our seed know concerning us, how that we came out from Jerusalem, and that they are descendants of the Jews.

2 Nephi 12:95 They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

2 Nephi 12:97 There is nothing which is secret, save it shall be revealed; there is no work of darkness, save it shall be made manifest in the light; and there is nothing which is sealed upon the earth, save it shall be loosed.

2 Nephi 13:2 And I can not write but a few things, which I know must surely come to pass; neither can I write but a few of the words of my brother Jacob.

2 Nephi 13:5 For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding: for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.

2 Nephi 13:9 But notwithstanding he being holy, he sheweth unto the children of men, that according to the flesh, he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments;

2 Nephi 13:12 And he said unto the children of men, Follow thou me.

2 Nephi 13:14 And the Father said, Repent ye, repent ye, and be baptized in the name of my beloved Son.

2 Nephi 13:15 And also, the voice of the Son came unto me, saying, He that is baptized in my name, to him will the Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto me; wherefore, follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do.

2 Nephi 13:21 And now, my beloved brethren, I know by this, that unless a man shall endure to the end, in following the example of the Son of the living God, he can not be saved;

2 Nephi 13:28 Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far, save it were by the word of Christ, with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save;

2 Nephi 13:29 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men.

2 Nephi 14:2 But behold, why do ye ponder these things in your hearts? Do ye not remember that I said unto you, that after ye had received the Holy Ghost, ye could speak with the tongue of angels?

2 Nephi 14:3 And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels, save it were by the Holy Ghost? Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ.

2 Nephi 14:4 Wherefore, I said unto you, Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.

2 Nephi 15:1 And now I, Nephi, can not write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I mighty in writing, like unto speaking: for when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost, the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.

2 Nephi 15:5 And the words which I have written in weakness, will he make strong unto them; for it persuadeth them to do good; it maketh known unto them of their fathers; and it speaketh of Jesus, and persuadeth them to believe in him, and to endure to the end, which is life eternal.

Jacob 1:Intro The words of his preaching unto his brethren. He confoundeth a man who seeketh to overthrow the doctrine of Christ. A few words concerning the history of the people of Nephi.

Jacob 1:5 For because of faith and great anxiety, it truly had been made manifest unto us concerning our people, what things should happen unto them.

Jacob 1:6 And we also had many revelations, and the spirit of much prophesy; wherefore, we knew of Christ and his kingdom, which should come.

Jacob 1:7 Wherefore, we labored diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God, that they might enter into his rest, lest by any means he should swear in his wrath they should not enter in, as in the provocation in the days of temptation, while the children of Israel were in the wilderness.

Jacob 1:8 Wherefore, we would to God that we could persuade all men not to rebel against God, to provoke him to anger, but that all men would believe in Christ, and view his death, and suffer his cross, and bear the shame of the world; wherefore, I, Jacob, take it upon me to fulfill the commandment of my brother Nephi.

Jacob 1:9 Now Nephi began to be old, and he saw that he must soon die; wherefore, he anointed a man to be a king and a ruler over his people now, according to the reigns of the kings.

Jacob 1:16 Yea, and they also began to search much gold and silver, and began to be lifted up somewhat in pride;

Jacob 1:19 And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads, if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence;

Jacob 2:8 And it supposeth me that they have come up hither to hear the pleasing word of God, yea, the word which healeth the wounded soul.

Jacob 2:11 But, notwithstanding the greatness of the task, I must do according to the strict commands of God, and tell you concerning your wickedness and abominations, in the presence of the pure in heart, and the broken heart, and under the glance of the piercing eye of the Almighty God.

Jacob 2:33 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives, and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord,

Jacob 2:34 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.

Jacob 2:35 Wherefore, I, the Lord God, will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.

Jacob 2:37 And whoredoms are an abomination before me: thus saith the Lord of hosts.

Jacob 2:43 For they shall not commit whoredoms, like unto them of old, saith the Lord of hosts.

Jacob 2:55 For they have not forgotten the commandments of the Lord, which were given unto our fathers, that they should have, save it were one wife: and concubines they should have none; and there should not be whoredoms committed among them.

Jacob 2:57 Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands, and their husbands and their wives love their children;

Jacob 2:59 O my brethren, I fear, that unless ye shall repent of your sins, that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God.

Jacob 2:61 But ye shall remember your own filthiness, and remember that their filthiness came because of their fathers.

Jacob 3:6 And for this intent, we keep the law of Moses, it pointing our souls to him; and for their cause, it is sanctified unto us, for righteousness, even as it was accounted unto Abraham in the wilderness, to be obedient unto the commands of God, in offering up his son Isaac, which is a similitude of God and his only begotten Son.

Jacob 3:10 How unsearchable are the depths of the mysteries of him; and it is impossible that man should find out all his ways.

Jacob 3:12 For behold, by the power of his word, man came upon the face of the earth; which earth was created by the power of his word.

Jacob 3:13 Wherefore, if God, being able to speak, and the world was; and to speak, and man was created, O then, why not able to command the earth, or the workmanship of his hands upon the face of it, according to his will and pleasure.

Jacob 3:15 For behold, ye yourselves know, that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works;

Jacob 3:19 Behold, my brethren, he that prophesieth, let him prophesy to the understanding of men; for the Spirit speaketh the truth, and lieth not.

Jacob 3:22 But behold, the Jews were a stiff-necked people; and they despised the words of plainness, and killed the prophets, and sought for things that they could not understand.

Jacob 3:35 And it came to pass that the master of the vineyard saw it, and he said unto his servant, It grieveth me that I should lose this tree;

Jacob 3:38 And it mattereth not that if it so be, that the root of this tree will perish, I may preserve the fruit thereof unto myself;

Jacob 3:43 And the Lord of the vineyard caused that it should be digged about, and pruned, and nourished, saying unto his servant, It grieveth me that I should lose this tree;

Jacob 3:44 Wherefore, that perhaps I might preserve the roots thereof that they perish not, that I might preserve them unto myself I have done this thing.

Jacob 3:63 And it came to pass that the servant said unto his master, How comest thou hither to plant this tree, or this branch of the tree? for behold, it was the poorest spot in all the land of thy vineyard.

Jacob 3:72 And it came to pass that a long time had passed away, and the Lord of the vineyard said unto his servant, Come, let us go down into the vineyard, that we may labor again in the vineyard.

Jacob 3:79 And the Lord of the vineyard said unto the servant, What shall we do unto the tree, that I may preserve again good fruit thereof unto mine own self?

Jacob 3:111 And the Lord said, Yea, I will spare it a little longer: for it grieveth me that I should lose the trees of my vineyard.

Jacob 3:115 And behold, the roots of the natural branches of the tree which I planted whithersoever I would, are yet alive;

Jacob 3:124 And that I may have joy again in the fruit of my vineyard; and perhaps that I may rejoice exceedingly, that I have preserved the roots and the branches of the first fruit.

Jacob 3:125 Wherefore, go to, and call servants, that we may labor diligently with our mights in the vineyard, that we may prepare the way, that I may bring forth again the natural fruit, which natural fruit is good, and the most precious above all other fruit.

Jacob 3:127 Graft in the branches; begin at the last, that they may be first, and that the first may be last, and dig about the trees, both old and young, the first and the last, and the last and the first, that all may be nourished once again for the last time.

Jacob 3:131 And ye shall not clear away the bad thereof, all at once, lest the roots thereof should be too strong for the graft, and the graft thereof shall perish, and I lose the trees of my vineyard.

Jacob 3:149 And for the last time have I nourished my vineyard, and pruned it, and dug about it, and dunged it;

Jacob 4:7 And they are a stiff-necked, and a gainsaying people; but as many as will not harden their hearts, shall be saved in the kingdom of God.

Jacob 5:5 And he knowing that I, Jacob, had faith in Christ who should come, he sought much opportunity that he might come unto me.

Jacob 5:7 And he had hope to shake me from the faith, notwithstanding the many revelations, and the many things which I had seen concerning these things; for I truly had seen angels, and they had ministered unto me.

Jacob 5:20 And this is not all: it has been made manifest unto me, for I have heard and seen; and it also has been made manifest unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost;

Jacob 5:28 And it came to pass that he was nourished for the space of many days.

Jacob 5:40 And they sought by the power of their arms to destroy us continually;

Jacob 5:41 Wherefore, the people of Nephi did fortify against them with their armies, and with all their might, trusting in the God and rock of their salvation; wherefore, they became as yet, conquerors of their enemies.

Jacob 5:43 That the time passed away with us, and also our lives passed away, like as it were unto us a dream, we being a lonesome and a solemn people, wanderers, cast out from Jerusalem;

Jacob 5:44 Born in tribulation, in a wilderness, and hated of our brethren, which caused wars and contentions; wherefore, we did mourn out our days.

Enos 1:7 And there came a voice unto me saying, Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed.

Enos 1:10 And he said unto me, because of thy faith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen.

Enos 1:11 And many years pass away, before he shall manifest himself in the flesh; wherefore, go to, thy faith hath made thee whole.

Enos 1:15 I have given unto them this land; and it is a holy land; and I curse it not, save it be for the cause of iniquity;

Enos 1:22 And they swore in their wrath, that if it were possible, they would destroy our records and us; and, also, all the traditions of our fathers.

Enos 1:26 And he covenanted with me that he would bring them forth unto the Lamanites, in his own due time.

Omni 1:1 Behold, it came to pass that I, Omni, being commanded by my father Jarom, that I should write somewhat upon these plates, to preserve our genealogy;

Omni 1:8 For the Lord would not suffer, after he had led them out of the land of Jerusalem, and kept and preserved them from falling into the hands of their enemies; yea, he would not suffer that the words should not be verified, which he spake unto our fathers, saying, That insomuch as ye will not keep my commandments, ye shall not prosper in the land.

Omni 1:16 And behold, the record of this people is engraven upon plates which is had by the kings, according to the generations;

Omni 1:42 But behold, the Nephites did obtain much advantage over them; yea, insomuch that King Benjamin did drive them out of the land of Zarahemla.

Omni 1:48 And now, I would speak somewhat concerning a certain number who went up into the wilderness, to return to the land of Nephi:

Omni 1:49 For there was a large number who were desirous to possess the land of their inheritance; wherefore, they went up into the wilderness.

Jarom 1:1 Now behold, I, Jarom, write a few words, according to the commandment of my father Enos, that our genealogy may be kept.

Jarom 1:17 But our kings and our leaders were mighty men in the faith of the Lord; and they taught the people the ways of the Lord;

Jarom 1:23 And it came to pass that the prophets of the Lord did threaten the people of Nephi, according to the word of God, that if they did not keep the commandments, but should fall into transgression, they should be destroyed from off the face of the land;

Words of Mormon 1:7 Yea, and I also know that as many things as have been prophesied concerning us down to this day, have been fulfilled; and as many as go beyond this day, must surely come to pass;

Words of Mormon 1:10 And I do this for a wise purpose; for thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me.

Words of Mormon 1:13 And now I, Mormon, proceed to finish out my record, which I take from the plates of Nephi; and I make it according to the knowledge and the understanding which God has given me.

Words of Mormon 1:26 And there were many holy men in the land; and they did speak the word of God, with power and with authority; and they did use much sharpness because of the stiff-neckedness of the people;

3 Nephi 6:31 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

3 Nephi 9:34 Nevertheless, so great and marvelous were the words which he prayed, that they can not be written, neither can they be uttered by man.

Ether 1:31 And now we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise, and whatsoever nation shall possess it, shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fullness of his wrath shall come upon them.

Ether 3:90 And they were kept up by the power of the devil to administer these oaths unto the people, to keep them in darkness, to help such as sought power, to gain power, and to murder, and to plunder, and to lie, and to commit all manner of wickedness and whoredoms.

Ether 3:95 And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed, for the Lord will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by them, shall always cry unto him from the ground for vengeance upon them, and yet he avenge them not;

Ether 4:42 And the Lord did shew forth his power unto them in preserving them from famine.

Ether 4:49 And he did erect him an exceeding beautiful throne; and he did build many prisons, and whoso would not be subject unto taxes, he did cast into prison; and whoso was not able to pay taxes, he did cast into prison;

Ether 4:54 And after that he had established himself king, he did ease the burden of the people, by which he did gain favor in the eyes of the people, and they did anoint him to be their king.

Ether 4:57 And Morianton did live to an exceeding great age, and then he begat Kim; and Kim did reign in the stead of his father; and he did reign eight years, and his father died.

Ether 4:65 And it came to pass that Lib also did that which was good in the sight of the Lord.

Ether 4:70 And the whole face of the land northward was covered with inhabitants; and they were exceeding industrious, and they did buy and sell, and traffic one with another, that they might get gain.

Ether 4:96 And their bones should become as heaps of earth upon the face of the land, except they should repent of their wickedness.

Ether 4:109 And it came to pass that there arose another mighty man; and he was a descendant of the Brother of Jared.

Ether 5:1 And it came to pass that the days of Ether were in the days of Coriantumr; and Coriantumr was king over all the land.

Ether 5:3 For he did cry from the morning, even until the going down of the sun, exhorting the people to believe in God unto repentance, lest they should be destroyed, saying unto them, that by faith all things are fulfilled;

Ether 5:6 And now I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would shew unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen;

Ether 5:7 Wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith, for it was by faith that Christ shewed himself unto our fathers, after he had risen from the dead;

Ether 5:9 But because of the faith of men, he has shewn himself unto the world, and glorified the name of the Father, and prepared a way that thereby others might be partakers of the heavenly gift, that they might hope for those things which they have not seen;

Ether 5:10 Wherefore ye may also have hope, and be partakers of the gift, if ye will but have faith.

Ether 5:12 But in the gift of his Son, hath God prepared a more excellent way, and it is by faith that it hath been fulfilled;

Ether 5:17 And it was by faith that the three disciples obtained a promise that they should not taste of death; and they obtained not the promise until after their faith.

Ether 5:20 And behold we have seen in this record, that one of these was the Brother of Jared; for so great was his faith in God, that when God put forth his finger, he could not hide it from the sight of the Brother of Jared, because of his word which he had spoken unto him, which word he had obtained by faith.

Ether 5:25 Behold, thou hast not made us mighty in writing like unto the Brother of Jared, for thou madest him that the things which he wrote, were mighty even as thou art, unto the overpowering of man to read them.

Ether 5:30 And I, Moroni, having heard these words, was comforted, and said, O Lord, thy righteous will be done, for I know that thou workest unto the children of men according to their faith; for the Brother of Jared said unto the mountain Zerin, Remove, and it was removed.

Ether 5:31 And if he had not had faith, it would not have moved; wherefore thou workest after men have faith; for thus did thou manifest thyself unto thy disciples.

Ether 5:33 And again I remember that thou hast said that thou hast loved the world, even unto the laying down of thy life for the world, that thou mightest take it again to prepare a place for the children of men.

Ether 5:34 And now I know that this love which thou hast had for the children of men, is charity; wherefore, except men shall have charity, they can not inherit that place which thou hast prepared in the mansions of thy Father.

Ether 5:36 And it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord that he would give unto the Gentiles grace, that they might have charity.

Ether 6:2 For behold, they rejected all the words of Ether; for he truly told them of all things, from the beginning of man; and that after the waters had receded from off the face of this land, it became a choice land above all other lands, a chosen land of the Lord;

Ether 6:4 Behold, Ether saw the days of Christ, and he spake concerning a New Jerusalem upon this land; and he spake also concerning the house of Israel, and the Jerusalem from whence Lehi should come; after it should be destroyed, it should be built up again a holy city unto the Lord;

Ether 6:6 And that a New Jerusalem should be built up upon this land, unto the remnant of the seed of Joseph, for which things there has been a type; for as Joseph brought his father down into the land of Egypt, even so he died there;

Ether 6:7 Wherefore the Lord brought a remnant of the seed of Joseph out of the land of Jerusalem, that he might be merciful unto the seed of Joseph, that they should perish not, even as he was merciful unto the father of Joseph, that he should perish not;

Ether 6:16 And it came to pass that in that same year which he was cast out from among the people, there began to be a great war among the people, for there were many who rose up who were mighty men, and sought to destroy Coriantumr, by their secret plans of wickedness, of which hath been spoken.

Ether 6:18 But he repented not, neither his fair sons nor daughters; neither the fair sons and daughters of Cohor; neither the fair sons and daughters of Corihor; and in fine, there was none of the fair sons and daughters upon the face of the whole earth, who repented of their sins;

Ether 6:35 And now there began to be a great curse upon the land, because of the iniquity of the people, in which, if a man should lay his tool or his sword upon the shelf, or upon the place whether he would keep it, and behold, upon the morrow, he could not find it, so great was the curse upon the land.

Ether 6:58 And so swift and speedy was the war, that there was none left to bury the dead, but they did march forth from the shedding of blood, to the shedding of blood, leaving the bodies of both men, women and children, strewed upon the face of the land, to become a prey to the worms of the flesh;

Ether 6:65 And Coriantumr pitched his tents in the valley of Shurr.

Ether 6:70 And Coriantumr having lost his blood, fainted, and was carried away as though he were dead.

Ether 6:77 And it came to pass that the people repented not of their iniquity; and the people of Coriantumr were stirred up to anger against the people of Shiz;

Ether 6:79 And when Coriantumr saw that he was about to fall, he fled again before the people of Shiz.

Ether 6:85 And it came to pass that Ether did behold all the doings of the people; and he beheld that the people who were for Coriantumr, were gathered together to the army of Coriantumr; and the people who were for Shiz, were gathered together to the army of Shiz;

Ether 6:91 And it came to pass that Coriantumr wrote again an epistle unto Shiz, desiring that he would not come again to battle, but that he would take the kingdom, and spare the lives of the people.

Ether 6:101 And it came to pass that when the men of Coriantumr had received sufficient strength, that they could walk, they were about to flee for their lives, but behold, Shiz arose, and also his men, and he swore in his wrath that he would slay Coriantumr, or he would perish by the sword;

Moroni 1:2 For behold, their wars are exceeding fierce among themselves; and because of their hatred, they put to death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ.

Moroni 1:3 And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ; wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can, for the safety of mine own life.

Moroni 4:1 The manner of their elders and priests administering the flesh and blood of Christ unto the church:

Moroni 7:2 And now I, Mormon, speak unto you, my beloved brethren; and it is by the grace of God, the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, and his holy will, because of the gift of his calling unto me, that I am permitted to speak unto you at this time;

Moroni 7:6 For behold, it is not counted unto him for righteousness.

Moroni 7:7 For behold, if a man being evil, giveth a gift, he doeth it grudgingly; wherefore it is counted unto him the same as if he had retained the gift; wherefore he is counted evil before God.

Moroni 7:8 And likewise also is it counted evil unto a man, if he shall pray, and not with real intent of heart; yea, and it profiteth him nothing; for God receiveth none such; wherefore, a man being evil, can not do that which is good; neither will he give a good gift.

Moroni 7:9 For behold, a bitter fountain can not bring forth good water; neither can a good fountain bring forth bitter water; wherefore a man being a servant of the devil, can not follow Christ; and if he follow Christ, he can not be a servant of the devil.

Moroni 7:10 Wherefore, all things which are good, cometh of God; and that which is evil, cometh of the devil; for the devil is an enemy unto God, and fighteth against him continually, and inviteth and enticeth to sin, and to do that which is evil continually.

Moroni 7:11 But behold, that which is of God, inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, everything which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.

Moroni 7:13 For behold, my brethren, it is given unto you to judge, that ye may know good from evil; and the way to judge is as plain, that ye may know with a perfect knowledge, as the daylight is from the dark night.

Moroni 7:14 For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that they may know good from evil; wherefore I shew unto you the way to judge: for everything which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ;

Moroni 7:17 And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the light by which ye may judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that ye do not judge wrongfully; for with that same judgment which ye judge, ye shall also be judged.

Moroni 7:23 And behold, there were divers ways that he did manifest things unto the children of men, which were good; and all things which are good, cometh of Christ, otherwise men were fallen, and there could no good thing come unto them.

Moroni 7:26 And as sure as Christ liveth, he spake these words unto our fathers, saying, Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be done unto you.

Moroni 7:27 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased, because Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men;

Moroni 7:41 Behold I say to you, Nay, for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men;

Moroni 7:42 Wherefore if these things have ceased, wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain; for no man can be saved, according to the words of Christ, save they shall have faith in his name;

Moroni 7:47 Behold I say unto you, that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal; and this because of your faith in him according to the promise;

Moroni 7:49 And again, behold I say unto you, that he can not have faith and hope, save he shall be meek and lowly of heart; if so, his faith and hope are vain, for none is acceptable before God, save the meek and lowly of heart;

Moroni 7:50 And if a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power of the Holy Ghost, that Jesus is the Christ, he must needs have charity; for if he have not charity, he is nothing; wherefore he must needs have charity.

Moroni 7:51 And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things; wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth.

Moroni 7:52 Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail; but charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth for ever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with them.

Moroni 8:8 And the word of the Lord came to me by the power of the Holy Ghost, saying, Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord, and your God.

Moroni 8:9 Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me.

Moroni 8:13 But little children are alive in Christ, even from the foundation of the world; if not so, God is a partial God, and also a changeable God, and a respecter to persons; for how many little children have died without baptism.

Moroni 8:14 Wherefore, if little children could not be saved without baptism, these must have gone to an endless hell.

Moroni 8:17 Wo be unto him that shall pervert the ways of the Lord after this manner, for they shall perish, except they repent.

Moroni 8:19 For I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity.

Moroni 8:25 For behold that all little children are alive in Christ, and also all they that are without the law.

Moroni 9:3 And now behold, my son, I fear lest the Lamanites shall destroy this people, for they do not repent, and Satan stirreth them up continually to anger, one with another.

Moroni 9:25 And if it so be that they perish, we know that many of our brethren have dissented over unto the Lamanites, and many more will also dissent over unto them;

Moroni 10:5 And if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost; and by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.

Moroni 10:6 And whatsoever thing is good, is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.

Moroni 10:14 And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren, that ye remember that he is the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever, and that all these gifts of which I have spoken, which are spiritual, never will be done away, even as long as the world shall stand, only according to the unbelief of the children of men.

DC 1:2a Behold, this is mine authority, and the authority of my servants, and my preface unto the book of my commandments, which I have given them to publish unto you, O inhabitants of the earth;

DC 1:2e unto the day when the Lord shall come to recompense unto every man according to his work, and measure to every man according to the measure which he has measured to his fellow man.

DC 1:3e but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and whose substance is that of an idol, which waxeth old and shall perish in Babylon, even Babylon the great, which shall fall.

DC 12:5a Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of the living God, who created the heavens and the earth; a light which cannot be hid in darkness;

DC 15:2d and he has translated the book, even that part which I have commanded him, and as your Lord and your God liveth, it is true.

DC 16:1a Now, behold, because of the thing which you, my servant Oliver Cowdery, have desired to know of me, I give unto you these words:

DC 16:1c and if you know that they are true, behold, I give unto you a commandment, that you rely upon the things which are written; for in them are all things written concerning the foundation of my church, my gospel, and my Rock;

DC 16:2a Behold, the world is ripening in iniquity, and it must needs be that the children of men are stirred up unto repentance, both the Gentiles, and also the house of Israel;

DC 16:2c And now marvel not that I have called him unto mine own purpose, which purpose is known in me;

DC 16:3b for, behold, I command all men everywhere to repent, and I speak unto you, even as unto Paul mine apostle, for you are called even with that same calling with which he was called.

DC 16:3d And he hath risen again from the dead, that he might bring all men unto him on conditions of repentance.

DC 16:4f Behold, Jesus Christ is the name which is given of the Father, and there is none other name given whereby man can be saved;

DC 16:5b and the twelve are they who shall desire to take upon them my name, with full purpose of heart; and if they desire to take upon them my name, with full purpose of heart, they are called to go into all the world to preach my gospel unto every creature;

DC 16:5e And, behold, you are they who are ordained of me to ordain priests and teachers to declare my gospel, according to the power of the Holy Ghost which is in you, and according to the callings and gifts of God unto men; and I, Jesus Christ, your Lord and your God, have spoken it.

DC 16:5f These words are not of men, nor of man; but of me; wherefore, you shall testify they are of me, and not of man; for it is my voice which speaketh them unto you; for they are given by my Spirit unto you;

DC 16:7b and by your hands I will work a marvelous work among the children of men, unto the convincing of many of their sins, that they may come unto repentance, and that they may come unto the kingdom of my Father;

DC 17:4c But by the transgression of these holy laws, man became sensual and devilish, and became fallen man.

DC 18:1c retaining all power, even to the destroying of Satan and his works at the end of the world, and the last great day of judgment, which I shall pass upon the inhabitants thereof, judging every man according to his works, and the deeds which he has done.

DC 18:1e yea, to those who are found on my left hand; nevertheless, it is not written that there shall be no end to this torment; but it is written endless torment.

DC 18:2a Again, it is written eternal damnation; wherefore it is more express than other scriptures, that it might work upon the hearts of the children of men, altogether for my name's glory;

DC 18:2c I speak unto you that are chosen in this thing, even as one, that you may enter into my rest; for, behold, the mystery of godliness, how great is it?

DC 18:2e Eternal punishment is God's punishment. Endless punishment is God's punishment.

DC 18:2j nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men;

DC 18:2l And I command you that you preach naught but repentance, and show not these things unto the world until it is wisdom in me;

DC 19:1c which church was organized and established, in the year of your Lord eighteen hundred and thirty, in the fourth month, and on the sixth day of the month, which is called April.

DC 19:3a For, behold, I will bless all those who labor in my vineyard, with a mighty blessing, and they shall believe on his words, which are given him through me, by the Comforter, which manifesteth that Jesus was crucified by sinful men for the sins of the world; yea, for the remission of sins unto the contrite heart.

DC 20:1a Behold, I say unto you, that all old covenants have I caused to be done away in this thing, and this is a new and everlasting covenant; even that which was from the beginning.

DC 20:1c for it is because of your dead works, that I have caused this last covenant, and this church to be built up unto me; even as in days of old.

DC 21:2a Behold, I speak unto you, Hyrum, a few words, for thou also art under no condemnation, and thy heart is opened, and thy tongue loosed; and thy calling is to exhortation, and to strengthen the church continually.

DC 22:2 And God spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, I am the Lord God Almighty, and Endless is my name, for I am without beginning of days or end of years; and is not this endless?

DC 22:3b for my works are without end, and also my words, for they never cease;

DC 22:10 And he also gave unto me commandment, when he called unto me out of the burning bush, saying, Call upon God in the name of mine Only Begotten, and worship me.

DC 24:3b And it shall be given thee, also, to make a selection of sacred hymns, as it shall be given thee, which is pleasing unto me, to be had in my church; for my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me.

DC 26:1c remembering unto the Father my body which was laid down for you, and my blood which was shed for the remission of your sins;

DC 26:1d wherefore a commandment I give unto you, that you shall not purchase wine, neither strong drink of your enemies; wherefore ye shall partake of none, except it is made new among you; yea, in this my Father's kingdom which shall be built up on the earth.

DC 26:3c and for the fullness of times, in the which I will gather together in one all things, both which are in heaven and which are on earth; and also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world;

DC 28:2c and as it is written, Whatsoever ye shall ask in faith, being united in prayer according to my command, ye shall receive; and ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect, for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts;

DC 28:4c and it shall come to pass, because of the wickedness of the world, that I will take vengeance upon the wicked, for they will not repent; for the cup of mine indignation is full; for, behold, my blood shall not cleanse them if they hear me not.

DC 28:7b and the righteous shall be gathered on my right hand unto eternal life; and the wicked on my left hand will I be ashamed to own before the Father;

DC 28:8e speaking unto you that you may naturally understand, but unto myself my works have no end, neither beginning; but it is given unto you that ye may understand, because ye have asked it of me and are agreed.

DC 28:10d and it must needs be that the Devil should tempt the children of men, or they could not be agents unto themselves, for if they never should have bitter, they could not know the sweet.

DC 28:11a Wherefore, it came to pass, that the Devil tempted Adam and he partook the forbidden fruit, and transgressed the commandment, wherein he became subject to the will of the Devil, because he yielded unto temptation;

DC 28:12d for they can not be redeemed from their spiritual fall, because they repent not, for they will love darkness rather than light, and their deeds are evil, and they receive their wages of whom they list to obey.

DC 29:1b but your mind has been on the things of the earth more than on the things of me, your Maker, and the ministry whereunto you have been called; and you have not given heed unto my Spirit, and to those who were set over you, but have been persuaded by those whom I have not commanded;

DC 29:2d and none have I appointed to be his counselor, over him, in the church, concerning church matters, except it is his brother Joseph Smith, Jr.

DC 30:2c You shall begin to preach from this time forth; yea, to reap in the field which is white already to be burned;

DC 32:2b and even so will I gather mine elect from the four quarters of the earth, even as many as will believe in me, and hearken unto my voice;

DC 32:3d And the Book of Mormon, and the Holy Scriptures, are given of me for your instruction; and the power of my Spirit quickeneth all things;

DC 33:1b who so loved the world that he gave his own life, that as many as would believe might become the sons of God;

DC 33:1e The time is soon at hand, that I shall come in a cloud with power and great glory, and it shall be a great day at the time of my coming, for all nations shall tremble.

DC 34:3e And there are none that doeth good except those who are ready to receive the fullness of my gospel, which I have sent forth unto this generation.

DC 34:4f and in weakness have I blessed him, and I have given unto him the keys of the mystery of those things which have been sealed, even things which were from the foundation of the world, and the things which shall come from this time until the time of my coming, if he abide in me, and if not, another will I plant in his stead.

DC 35:3a And this commandment shall be given unto the elders of my church, that every man which will embrace it with singleness of heart, may be ordained and sent forth, even as I have spoken.

DC 36:7d Behold, I am God; Man of Holiness is my name; Man of Counsel is my name; and Endless and Eternal is my name, also.

DC 36:7f Satan shall be their father, and misery shall be their doom; and the whole heavens shall weep over them, even all the workmanship of my hands.

DC 36:7h But, behold, these which your eyes are upon, shall perish in the floods; and, behold, I will shut them up: a prison have I prepared for them.

DC 36:7i And that which I have chosen has pleaded before my face. Wherefore he suffers for their sins, inasmuch as they will repent in the day that my chosen shall return unto me; and until that day they shall be in torment.

DC 36:8a And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto Enoch, and told Enoch all the doings of the children of men.

DC 36:8c And Enoch saw Noah, also, and his family, that the posterity of all the sons of Noah should be saved with a temporal salvation.

DC 36:10g and the Lord said, Blessed is he through whose seed Messiah shall come: for he says, I am Messiah, the King of Zion; the Rock of Heaven, which is broad as eternity.

DC 36:12a And Enoch beheld the Son of man ascend up unto the Father; and he called unto the Lord, saying, Will you not come again upon the earth, for inasmuch as you are God, and I know you, and you have sworn unto me, and commanded me that I should ask in the name of your Only Begotten,

DC 38:2a But, behold, verily, verily I say unto you, that mine eyes are upon you:

DC 38:4c Therefore, be ye strong from henceforth; fear not for the kingdom is yours: and for your salvation I give unto you a commandment, for I have heard your prayers, and the poor have complained before me, and the rich have I made, and all flesh is mine, and I am no respecter of persons.

DC 38:5a But verily I say unto you, that, in time, ye shall have no king nor ruler, for I will be your king and watch over you.

DC 38:6c Ye hear of wars in far countries, and you say that there will soon be great wars in far countries, but ye know not the hearts of men in your own land.

DC 38:7a And that ye might escape the power of the enemy, and be gathered unto me a righteous people, without spot and blameless:

DC 39:4d And inasmuch as my people shall assemble themselves to the Ohio, I have kept in store a blessing such as is not known among the children of men, and it shall be poured forth upon their heads. And from thence men shall go forth into all nations.

DC 39:5a Behold, verily, verily I say unto thee, that the people in Ohio call upon me in much faith, thinking I will stay my hand in judgment upon the nations, but I can not deny my word; wherefore lay to with thy might and call faithful laborers into my vineyard, that it may be pruned for the last time.

DC 40:1a Behold, verily I say unto you, that the heart of my servant James Covill was right before me, for he covenanted with me, that he would obey my word.

DC 41:3d And this because his heart is pure before me, for he is like unto Nathaniel of old, in whom there is no guile.

DC 43:5b For the day cometh that the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven; the heavens shall shake and the earth shall tremble, and the trump of God shall sound both long and loud, and shall say to the sleeping nations;

DC 43:6d Behold, the day has come, when the cup of the wrath of mine indignation is full.

DC 45:1d Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;

DC 45:2d And even so I have sent mine everlasting covenant into the world, to be a light to the world, and to be a standard for my people and for the Gentiles to seek to it, and to be a messenger before my face to prepare the way before me.

DC 45:2e Wherefore come ye unto it; and with him that cometh I will reason as with men in days of old, and I will show unto you my strong reasoning;

DC 45:2h a day which was sought for by all holy men, and they found it not, because of wickedness and abominations, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth, but obtained a promise that they should find it, and see it in their flesh.

DC 45:7a But before the arm of the Lord shall fall, an angel shall sound his trump, and the saints that have slept, shall come forth to meet me in the cloud;

DC 45:11a And now, behold, I say unto you, It shall not be given unto you to know any further concerning this chapter, until the New Testament be translated, and in it all these things shall be made known;

DC 45:11c ye hear of wars in foreign lands, but, behold, I say unto you, They are nigh, even at your doors, and not many years hence ye shall hear of wars in your own lands.

DC 45:13b And there shall be gathered unto it out of every nation under heaven; and it shall be the only people that shall not be at war one with another.

DC 46:3c walking uprightly before me, considering the end of your salvation, doing all things with prayer and thanksgiving, that ye may not be seduced by evil spirits, or doctrines of devils, or the commandments of men, for some are of men, and others of devils.

DC 46:8a And it shall come to pass that he that asketh in spirit shall receive in spirit; that unto some it may be given to have all those gifts, that there may be a head, in order that every member may be profited thereby:

DC 47:2a And again, I say unto you, that it shall be appointed unto him to keep the church record and history continually, for Oliver Cowdery I have appointed to another office.

DC 49:1b Behold, I say unto you, that they desire to know the truth in part, but not all, for they are not right before me, and must needs repent;

DC 49:2b I, the Lord God, have spoken it; but the hour and the day no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor shall they know until he comes;

DC 49:2c wherefore I will that all men shall repent, for all are under sin, except them which I have reserved unto myself, holy men that ye know not of;

DC 49:2e and, if not of themselves, they shall come down, for that which is now exalted of itself, shall be laid low of power;

DC 49:3a And again, I say unto you, that whoso forbiddeth to marry, is not ordained of God, for marriage is ordained of God unto man;

DC 49:3e for, behold, the beasts of the field, and the fowls of the air, and that which cometh of the earth, is ordained for the use of man, for food, and for raiment, and that he might have in abundance, but it is not given that one man should possess that which is above another;

DC 49:4a And again, verily I say unto you, that the Son of man cometh not in the form of a woman, neither of a man traveling on the earth;

DC 50:3b but the hypocrites shall be detected and shall be cut off, either in life or in death, even as I will, and woe unto them who are cut off from my church, for the same are overcome of the world;

DC 50:4a And now come, saith the Lord, by the Spirit, unto the elders of his church, and let us reason together, that ye may understand: let us reason even as a man reasoneth one with another face to face:

DC 50:5c therefore, why is it that ye can not understand and know that he that receiveth the word by the spirit of truth, receiveth it as it is preached by the spirit of truth?

DC 50:6c And again, verily I say unto you, and I say it that you may know the truth, that you may chase darkness from among you, for he that is ordained of God and sent forth, the same is appointed to be the greatest, notwithstanding he is least, and the servant of all:

DC 50:6f but know this, it shall be given you what you shall ask, and as ye are appointed to the head, the spirits shall be subject unto you.

DC 50:8b and also my servant John Corrill, or as many of my servants as are ordained unto this office, and let them labor in the vineyard; and let no man hinder them of doing that which I have appointed unto them:

DC 50:8e Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me; and none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost;

DC 51:1a Hearken unto me, saith the Lord your God, and I will speak unto my servant Edward Partridge, and give unto him directions; for it must needs be that he receive directions how to organize this people; for it must needs be that they are organized according to my laws; if otherwise, they will be cut off;

DC 51:3a And let that which belongeth to this people not be taken and given unto that of another church;

DC 51:4c And thus I grant unto this people a privilege of organizing themselves according to my laws; and I consecrate unto them this land for a little season, until I, the Lord, shall provide for them otherwise, and command them to go hence; and the hour and the day is not given unto them;

DC 52:1b I, the Lord, will make known unto you what I will that ye shall do from this time until the next Conference, which shall be held in Missouri, upon the land which I will consecrate unto my people, which are a remnant of Jacob, and those who are heirs according to the covenant.

DC 52:4b And again, I will give unto you a pattern in all things, that ye may not be deceived; for Satan is abroad in the land, and he goeth forth deceiving the nations;

DC 52:4e And again, he that trembleth under my power shall be made strong, and shall bring forth fruits of praise, and wisdom, according to the revelations and truths which I have given you.

DC 54:1e but blessed are they who have kept the covenant, and observed the commandment, for they shall obtain mercy.

DC 56:1b And he that will not take up his cross and follow me, and keep my commandments, the same shall not be saved.

DC 56:2a Behold, I the Lord commandeth, and he that will not obey shall be cut off in mine own due time; and after that I have commanded and the commandment is broken, wherefore I the Lord command and revoke, as it seemeth me good, and all this to be answered upon the heads of the rebellious, saith the Lord;

DC 56:2c for, behold, I revoke the commandment which was given unto my servants Selah J. Griffin and Newel Knight, in consequence of the stiffneckedness of my people which are in Thompson; and their rebellions;

DC 57:1a Hearken, O ye elders of my church saith the Lord your God, who have assembled yourselves together, according to my commandments, in this land which is the land of Missouri, which is the land which I have appointed and consecrated for the gathering of the Saints:

DC 57:1d Behold, the place which is now called Independence, is the Center Place, and the spot for the temple is lying westward upon a lot which is not far from the courthouse;

DC 58:2a Ye can not behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow, after much tribulation.

DC 58:5a Let no man think that he is ruler, but let God rule him that judgeth, according to the counsel of his own will; or, in other words, him that counseleth or sitteth upon the judgment seat.

DC 58:6a And now, as I spake concerning my servant Edward Partridge, this land is the land of his residence, and those whom he has appointed for his counselors, and also the land of the residence of him whom I have appointed to keep my storehouse;

DC 58:6b wherefore let them bring their families to this land, as they shall counsel between themselves and me;

DC 58:9e And now, verily I say, concerning the residue of the elders of my church, The time has not yet come, for many years, for them to receive their inheritance in this land, except they desire it through the prayer of faith, only as it shall be appointed unto them of the Lord.

DC 59:1c and it shall bring forth in its strength; and they shall also be crowned with blessings from above; yea, and with commandments not a few, and with revelations in their time; they that are faithful and diligent before me.

DC 59:5b and in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments.

DC 60:3c And let my servant Edward Partridge impart of the money which I have given him, a portion unto mine elders who are commanded to return; and he that is able, let him return it by way of the agent, and he that is not, of him it is not required.

DC 61:1e yea, and especially upon these waters; nevertheless, all flesh is in mine hand, and he that is faithful among you, shall not perish by the waters.

DC 61:2b nevertheless I would not suffer that ye should part until you are chastened for all your sins, that you might be one; that you might not perish in wickedness;

DC 61:3a Behold, I, the Lord, in the beginning, blessed the waters, but in the last days by the mouth of my servant John, I cursed the waters;

DC 61:3e I, the Lord, have decreed, and the destroyer rideth upon the face thereof, and I revoke not the decree; I, the Lord, was angry with you yesterday, but today mine anger is turned away.

DC 61:5a And, behold, this commandment you shall give unto all your brethren; nevertheless unto whom it is given power to command the waters, unto him it is given by the Spirit to know all his ways;

DC 62:Intro SECTION 62 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., on the bank of the Missouri River, August 13, 1831. The prophet and his party on their way from Independence to Kirtland met several elders who were going to the land of Zion. This revelation is addressed to these elders.

DC 63:2a Behold, I, the Lord, utter my voice, and it shall be obeyed.

DC 63:3b Yea, signs come by faith, not by the will of men, nor as they please, but by the will of God.

DC 63:3c Yea, signs come by faith, unto mighty works, for without faith no man pleaseth God: and with whom God is angry he is not well pleased: wherefore, unto such he showeth no signs, only in wrath unto their condemnation.

DC 63:5a And verily I say unto you, as I have said before, He that looketh on a woman to lust after her, or if any shall commit adultery in their hearts, they shall not have the Spirit, but shall deny the faith and shall fear:

DC 63:8b Behold, the Land of Zion, I, the Lord, holdeth it in mine own hands; nevertheless, I, the Lord, rendereth unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's:

DC 63:8c wherefore, I, the Lord, willeth, that you should purchase the lands, that you may have advantage of the world, that you may have claim on the world, that they may not be stirred up unto anger;

DC 63:9c nevertheless, I, the Lord, am with them, and will come down in heaven from the presence of my Father, and consume the wicked with unquenchable fire.

DC 63:9e and that every man should take righteousness in his hands, and faithfulness upon his loins, and lift a warning voice unto the inhabitants of the earth; and declare both by word and by flight, that desolation shall come upon the wicked.

DC 63:13d they shall rise from the dead and shall not die after, and shall receive an inheritance before the Lord, in the holy city, and he that liveth when the Lord shall come, and has kept the faith, blessed is he; nevertheless it is appointed to him to die at the age of man;

DC 63:13e wherefore children shall grow up until they become old, old men shall die; but they shall not sleep in the dust, but they shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye;

DC 63:13h and in that day will I send mine angels, to pluck out the wicked, and cast them into unquenchable fire.

DC 63:15c I am over all, and in all, and through all, and searcheth all things; and the day cometh that all things shall be subject unto me. Behold, I am Alpha and Omega, even Jesus Christ.

DC 63:15d Wherefore let all men beware how they take my name in their lips; for, behold, verily I say, that many there be who are under this condemnation; who use the name of the Lord, and use it in vain, having not authority.

DC 63:15e Wherefore, let the church repent of their sins, and I, the Lord, will own them; otherwise they shall be cut off.

DC 64:Intro SECTION 64 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., September 11, 1831, at Kirtland, Ohio. Joseph was preparing to go to Hiram, more than thirty miles southeast of Kirtland, to continue his work on the Inspired Version of the Scriptures. Meanwhile some of the brethren were busy preparing for their journey to Independence. This revelation is directed primarily to the elders who were leaving for Zion. This was the last revelation printed in the Book of Commandments, the type having been set as far as "blood of Ephraim" (7b) when the mob at Independence, Missouri, destroyed the press.

DC 64:2c My disciples, in days of old, sought occasion against one another, and forgave not one another in their hearts, and for this evil they were afflicted, and sorely chastened;

DC 64:5a Behold, now it is called today (until the coming of the Son of man), and verily it is a day of sacrifice, and a day for the tithing of my people; for he that is tithed shall not be burned (at his coming); for after to day cometh the burning: this is speaking after the manner of the Lord;

DC 64:6a Behold, it is said in my laws, or forbidden, to get in debt to thine enemies; but, behold, it is not said at any time, that the Lord should not take when he please, and pay as seemeth him good:

DC 64:6b wherefore, as ye are agents, and ye are on the Lord's errand; and whatever ye do according to the will of the Lord, is the Lord's business, and he hath set you to provide for his Saints in these last days, that they may obtain an inheritance in the land of Zion, and, behold, I, the Lord, declare unto you, and my words are sure and shall not fail, that they shall obtain it;

DC 64:7a Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days;

DC 65:1e that the inhabitants thereof may receive it, and be prepared for the days to come, in the which the Son of man shall come down in heaven, clothed in the brightness of his glory, to meet the kingdom of God which is set up on the earth;

DC 67:3b not with the carnal, neither natural mind, but with the spiritual; for no man has seen God at any time in the flesh, except quickened by the Spirit of God;

DC 68:1c and whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be Scripture; shall be the will of the Lord; shall be the mind of the Lord; shall be the word of the Lord; shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God unto salvation:

DC 68:2b There remaineth hereafter in the due time of the Lord, other bishops to be set apart unto the church to minister even according to the first;

DC 68:4f Now I, the Lord, am not well pleased with the inhabitants of Zion, for there are idlers among them: and their children are also growing up in wickedness; they also seek not earnestly the riches of eternity, but their eyes are full of greediness.

DC 68:4h And a commandment I give unto them, that he that observeth not his prayers before the Lord in the season thereof, let him be had in remembrance before the judge of my people.

DC 69:Intro SECTION 69 Revelation given through rough Joseph Smith, Jr., November 1831, at Hiram, Ohio. The compilation of the revelations to comprise the "Book of Commandments" was authorized at one of the four special conferences held in Hiram during the first half of November 1831. It was decided that Oliver Cowdery and John Whitmer should carry the revelations to Independence, Missouri, where they would be printed by W. W. Phelps and Company. This instruction was sought and received in connection with the mission of these brethren.

DC 70:1a Behold and hearken, O ye inhabitants of Zion, and all ye people of my church, who are far off, and hear the word of the Lord, which I give unto my servant Joseph Smith, Jr., and also unto my servant Martin Harris, and also unto my servant Oliver Cowdery, and also unto my servant John Whitmer, and also unto my servant Sidney Rigdon, and also unto my servant William W. Phelps, by the way of commandment unto them, for I give unto them a commandment;

DC 70:1b wherefore hearken and hear, for thus saith the Lord unto them, I, the Lord, have appointed them, and ordained them to be stewards over the revelations and commandments which I have given unto them, and which I shall hereafter give unto them;

DC 70:1c and an account of this stewardship will I require of them in the day of judgment; wherefore I have appointed unto them, and this is their business in the church of God, to manage them and the concerns thereof; yea, the benefits thereof.

DC 71:2a Verily I say unto you, Proclaim unto the world in the regions round about, and in the church also, for the space of a season, even until it shall be made known unto you.

DC 71:2d Now, behold, this is wisdom; whoso readeth let him understand and receive also; for unto him that receiveth it shall be given more abundantly, even power;

DC 71:2e wherefore, confound your enemies; call upon them to meet you, both in public and in private; and inasmuch as ye are faithful, their shame shall be made manifest.

DC 71:2f Wherefore let them bring forth their strong reasons against the Lord.

DC 74:3a And it came to pass that the children being brought up in subjection to the Law of Moses, and giving heed to the traditions of their fathers, believed not the gospel of Christ, wherein they became unholy;

DC 75:4b Behold, I say unto you, that it is the duty of the church to assist in supporting the families of those and also to support the families of those who are called and must needs be sent unto the world to proclaim the gospel unto the world;

DC 75:5b Let every man be diligent in all things. And the idler shall not have place in the church, except he repents and mends his ways.

DC 76:3k And while we were yet in the Spirit, the Lord commanded us that we should write the vision; for we beheld Satan, that old serpent, even the Devil, who rebelled against God, and sought to take the kingdom of our God and his Christ;

DC 76:4h that through him all might be saved, whom the Father had put into his power, and made by him; who glorifies the Father, and saves all the works of his hands, except those sons of perdition, who deny the Son after the Father has revealed him;

DC 76:4j neither was it revealed, neither is, neither will be revealed unto man, except to them who are made partakers thereof:

DC 76:5g they are they who are priests and kings, who have received of his fullness, and of his glory, and are priests of the Most High after the order of Melchisedec, which was after the order of Enoch, which was after the order of the only begotten Son:

DC 76:5h wherefore, as it is written, they are gods, even the sons of God; wherefore all things are theirs, whether life or death, or things present, or things to come, all are theirs, and they are Christ's, and Christ is God's; and they shall overcome all things;

DC 76:6e these are they who receive of his glory, but not of his fullness;

DC 76:6f these are they who receive of the presence of the Son, but not of the fullness of the Father; wherefore they are bodies terrestrial, and not bodies celestial, and differ in glory as the moon differs from the sun;

DC 77:2c otherwise Satan seeketh to turn their hearts away from the truth, that they become blinded, and understand not the things which are prepared for them;

DC 77:4c and he who receiveth all things, with thankfulness, shall be made glorious, and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundredfold, yea, more;

DC 78:1b proclaiming glad tidings of great joy, even the everlasting gospel, and I will send upon him the Comforter which shall teach him the truth and the way whither he shall go;

DC 79:1b Go ye, go ye into the world, and preach the gospel to every creature that cometh under the sound of your voice, and inasmuch as you desire a companion I will give unto you my servant Eden Smith;

DC 80:1f and in doing these things thou wilt do the greatest good unto thy fellow-beings, and will promote the glory of him who is your Lord;

DC 84:1c and after they have fallen asleep, the great persecutor of the church, the apostate, the whore, even Babylon, that maketh all nations to drink of her cup, in whose hearts the enemy, even Satan, sitteth to reign;

DC 85:1b Behold, this is pleasing unto your Lord, and the angels rejoice over you; the alms of your prayers have come up into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded in the book of the names of the sanctified, even them of the celestial world.

DC 85:6a And again, verily I say unto you, The earth abideth the law of a celestial kingdom, for it filleth the measure of its creation, and transgresseth not the law.

DC 92:1a Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you, whom I love; and whom I love I also chasten, that their sins may be forgiven; for with the chastisement I prepare a way for their deliverance, in all things, out of temptation; and I have loved you:

DC 95:2c I, the Lord God, make you free; therefore, ye are free indeed: and the law also maketh you free; nevertheless when the wicked rule the people mourn;

DC 98:5h And all they who suffer persecution for my name, and endure in faith, though they are called to lay down their lives for my sake, yet shall they partake of all this glory.

DC 104:31c and also teachers to preside over those who are of the office of a teacher, in like manner; and also the deacons:

DC 104:31d wherefore, from deacon to teacher, and from teacher to priest, and from priest to elder, severally as they are appointed, according to the covenants and commandments of the church;

DC 104:31f From the same comes the administering of ordinances and blessings upon the church, by the laying on of the hands.

DC 104:43c And these Seventy are to be traveling ministers unto the Gentiles, first, and also unto the Jews, whereas other officers of the church, who belong not unto the Twelve neither to the Seventy, are not under the responsibility to travel among all nations, but are to travel as their circumstances shall allow, notwithstanding they may hold as high and responsible offices in the church.

DC 105:7b for on them have I laid the burden of all the churches for a little season;

DC 108:1b For he shall make bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of their God.

DC 108:5c Prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths strait, for the hour of his coming is nigh, when the Lamb shall stand upon Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand, having his father's name written in their foreheads;

DC 108:12b For, behold, the day cometh that shall burn as an oven, and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

DC 108:13a Behold, and lo, there are none to deliver you, for ye obeyed not my voice when I called to you out of the heavens, ye believed not my servants; and when they were sent unto you ye received them not;

DC 113:4c The same morning, after Hyrum had made ready to go--shall it be said to the slaughter? Yes, for so it was--he read the following paragraph near the close of the fifth chapter of Ether, in the Book of Mormon, and turned down the leaf upon it:
